Prompt: This storkie is a typically gentle one, acting as somewhat of a protector for the forest that they call home, specifically the fungi within it. They act as a sort of 'broodmother' (for lack of a better word) for the fungi in particular, helping them grow and even sprouting tiny mushrooms as they walk.
They're connected to the fungal network that their mushrooms have formed, giving them eyes all over the forsest. If something happens to their beloved home, they'll know about it.

Enoki started out their existence as a mushroom, doing the standard mushroom things :D
There was a cat named Thea who loved and cared for the mushrooms. Although she made sure to help every storkie who passed through the territory, Thea was often lonely and spent her days longing for a friend. That must have been what caused the demigod Auralee to take pity on her and turn the mushroom into a cat. It was a confusing experience for Enoki, for sure. Enoki and Thea were quickly close platonic partners, and they spent their days adventuring. Auralee may have been careless, or maybe clueless, about how her spell would carry on, though. Enoki eventually passed away, returned to the earth, and become a mushroom again. However, after some time… he simply was a cat again, awakening covered and surrounded by mushrooms. Although Enoki doesn’t remember her past lives, she has lived many. Enoki awoke in Courage of the Clouds territory one day and currently takes part in cultivating fungi for the health of the colony. Sometimes when Enoki is alone around the mushrooms, she feels a loneliness that cannot be explained and longs for a friend she is sure she once knew, with a fuzzy memory hovering out of reach… but there is a cat in the colony that has a similar vibe, and maybe they’ll get to know them better,,, someday.

Agara (from Fly Agaric) loves mushrooms and fungai. She found her mushroom hat when out exploring with her gf, Amanita one day. Their favorite pastime is to go exploring in the woods and search for new types of mushrooms and fungi. This was the biggest one the pair had ever seen! While Agara likes to avoid picking mushrooms unless they have a specific purpose for them, this one was different. Amanita helped fit the mushroom to Agaras head and she has been wearing it since then, her love for fungi unquestioned.

Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita, is a basidiomycete of the genus Amanita. It is also a muscimol mushroom.

They're much like the fungus they can control. Unobtrusive, oft overlooked, but an essential part of the place they live nonetheless. A messenger and caretaker, carefully cultivating close relationships both with others and between them. Quietly delivering materials to a working engineer before they need them, leaving behind warm drinks and a snack for a scholar, passing letters between lovers.

While fond of their native element, they don't spend much time actively pursuing study. Instead, when they do interact with fungus, it tends to be in cultivation. Mushrooms are a good source of nutrients, and carefully tending the mycelium as it grows is soothing. They also find themselves assisting in the introduction of symbiotic fungi to more traditional farming or gardening ventures, gently coaxing growth from the disturbed earth.

But they quickly realized that it was fungi that caught their attention, and so they opted to learn more about the various mushrooms around them and out in the world! They use their knowledge to teach others and post their videos online of cool mushrooms to eat, ones not to eat, ones that ooze colors, one that replace steak, and even ones that explode into mist!
