i thought the collies could use an a-locus modifier that still shows a decent amount of red pigment. the light grey areas would act as a "sable", that then blends into the whiter areas that act like a "urajiro". in order for the gene to pass, it would need a urajiro locus present along with the new a locus. i was also thinking that in order to have the facial marks, there would need to be a masking locus, but that could easily be disregarded and the black facial marks could just be apart of the a locus

Breed-Specific Suggestion: An a-locus modifier that resembles the Thylacine, or Tasmanian tiger. The collie’s coat would predominantly show pheomelanin, with the eumelanin presenting in the stripes stretching up the back from the base of the tail, and shading the length of the tail as well as the ears and occasionally the paws. Under the eyes, the end of the snout and the belly have diluted pheomelanin.
