Finn came to Slate Mine as a puppy, something the trainers there really hadn't done before. The plan was to raise the pup to be a herding dog, but what could a four month-old puppy possibly herd by herself? They soon found out that Finn had her own plays for what she would herd when she decided to take on the goats that lived at the estate.
It turns out that Finn's favorite things to herd are animals that are much larger than she is. As soon as she could walk she was trying to herd the cats at the breeder's house. A few weeks later, it was the chickens that the family owned. Then it was the goats, then sheep, and finally cows and even horses. Finn loves the challenge and the thrill. It's dangerous, sure, and challenging enough that she comes home after each session completely wiped out from exhaustion. But it makes her feel in control and intimidating, and Finn always comes home with a smile on her face.
