"Hey Badger! Remember that one time I needed your bow for practice, 'cause I forgot about the archery test Whistling Slash set up?" Foggy Cavern padded up to Howling Badger, his fluffy cheeks bouncing. The other cat looked up with a deadpan expression, nodding ever so slightly. "Well, good news, 'cause I'm here to repay that debt! So," the grey tom leaned his face closer to the other's, eyes wide," what favors do you need done?"
Howling Badger inhaled deeply, exhaling the breath and rustling a couple blades of grass in the process. He opened his jaw to say, "I need you to fill in for me at the nursery. I have an important patrol to get to, but I promised Cherry I'd help out by taking the kits for a while."
Foggy Cavern yipped and nodded with excitement. He'd never taken care of kits before! Without asking for details or a safe word in the most definite case that things got out of paw, Cavern zipped off to the nursery, a snug, wool-lined, circular hut off in the safest corner of the campground. He poked his head in between the soft, thick curtains and saw fuzzy little ovals nested in piles of moss and wool. He crept further in and curled up in the corner.

Cavern opened his eyes with a jolt, only to see a soft, white belly in his face. A kitten had been trying to use his muzzle to climb onto his head! The cat very slowly lifted up his body, careful not to throw off the baby. Then, angling his head, he let the thing slide off and back onto its wool bed. It squeaked in surprise, but nestled down easily. Foggy Cavern smiled, and his chest filled with a happy warmth.
MewThe cat's ears perked up, as his wide yellow eyes surveyed the room, looking for the source of the cry. He saw a brown, striped kit squirming in its bed. Cavern strategically bounded from one space in between nests to the other, trying not to step on any children He finally reached the kit and curled around it. The thing felt movement around its bed and the noise it was making grew louder and more helpless. Other kits started to stir from their slumber, looking up and mewing. The tom blinked and stroked the brown kitten with his tongue, calming it unsuccessfully . The other kits got up, stretched, and waddled over to the new adult, tails waving back and forth for balance.
"Oh no..." His wide yellow eyes grew wider.
The tiny children crowded around Foggy Cavern and climbed on him, needle-thin claws poking into his skin, and fur muffled his cries for help. A fluffy paw pressed into his side; a tiny nose sniffed inside his ear, and a thin tail brushed against his eyeball. Everywhere were tiny cat parts doing whatever that part was supposed to do. Cavern was being bombarded by children, and he, terrifyingly enough, had no way out, except to wait for the furry kitten storm to pass. the end ;-;
