Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness. With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.
Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.
Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.
Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.
This kiddo seems to have a lot of scars (aka grease spots; where the hair follicle got damaged)
Tell me about a time this Trotter got in a fight with another animal?

Show Name: Ashes to Dust
Barn Name: Goldrush
Gender: stallion
Height: 15hh
Halter Color: gray with golden highlights
Prompt: You remember that scene in Spirit where they had to pull the train over a mountain/hill? Yea, Goldrush was there too. He witnessed it all and was just a few rows behind the legendary Spirit. When The golden stallion, the hero of all the equines there, dropped seemingly dead to the ground, Goldrush was shocked. Was that supposed to be the hero, the wild untameable Mustang everyone was talking about? Then the chaos began, surprisingly Spirit stood up, overpowered all his enemies and freed the horses pulling the train. Everyone was cheering, but unfortunately, the humans had dogs with them who now began to attack the scared, fleeing horses. In that battle with a big dog, he got his scars and tells everyone proudly he got them while fighting side by side with the legend Spirit himself.
His chae looks like gold veins to me and I had to think of goldmines

Barn Name: Kintsugi
Gender: Stallion
Height: 14.2hh
Halter Color: Gold
Prompt: Kintsugi has been a steady, confident horse his whole life. Calm and collected for a young rider and energetic and brave for those that are more advanced. He excels at dressage with his forward yet levelheaded personality, but the best rides for him are when he's taken on trail rides. It's a time to relax and be free, exploring the countryside with a a pep in his step and inquisitive eye. During one of these trail rides, the time had gotten away from his rider and the sun was starting to set. Although they turned to hurry home, the evening was already beginning to set and the creatures of the woods were starting to emerge. As Kintsugi and his rider quickly made their way back to the barn in the setting twilight, they started to hear growling and snapping from the undergrowth. All of the sudden, a pack of snarling coyotes leapt out in front of them, cutting off their path back to safety. Kintsugi reared up, striking out at the coyotes as they drew near to show them that he was not afraid and determined to protect his rider. His rider clung to his mane while he boldly struck and kicked at the coyotes with his hooves. Because of his bravery, Kintsugi was able to break his way through the pack of coyotes and gallop back to safety with his rider.
I was inspired to call him Kintsugi, meaning "golden seams," after the Japanese art of repairing cracked bowls with gold lacquer. His unique striping due to the grease spots reminded me of the beautiful art form.

Show Name: Rays Of Morning Sun
Barn Name: Billy
Gender: Stallion
Height:14hh
Halter Color: magenta
Prompt:
Billy's scars weren't from an animal per say but to him the creature was alive and scary. Billy was in his paddock on a very dark night and he was casually munching on the grass. It was peaceful and quiet until he heard a spine tingling metallic screech. When he looked up he noticed a creature with two wooden arms and covered in barbed wire. Billy thinking about protecting his heard charged foward tackling this beast head on. It was a vicious battle but soon he came out victorious. When morning came he sought out help from the vet and when he was cleared he walked back to spot when the battle ensued. When he got there all that remained was a broken fence and a pile of wire.
