"Mom, who is this?" The young foal asked hesitantly, peering from behind its mother.
"She's your aunt, Aro. She's very nice, you will get along with her for sure. She loves to play in the meadow just like you." The mare replied smiling.
She and Aro were not blood related sisters, but they were so close that they treated each other like siblings.
"You mean I can go play with her?" The young filly asked with a rapidly widening smile.
"Yes honey, just make sure to ask if you're disturbing first." By the time she finished speaking, the youngster was at full gallop, heading for the mare lying nearby.
"Good morning! Are you Aro? I'm not disturbing you, am i? Can we play? Or go for a run?" The mare was inundated with questions but Aro adored children and she was not afraid to entertain them.
"Yes, my name is Aro. And you must be Amethyst's daughter."
The mare replied calmly. "Why don't you sit here with me and watch the birds?"
"Isn't it boring?" Little zebra asked not being sure.
"If you lie down next to me on the grass and look up, you can imagine being able to fly like them." The mare smiled as her companion took her place next to her.
"Do you like to imagine yourself flying?" A curious zebra asked.
"Yes, I had a bird friend once. He would always come in early in the morning, and if I was patient enough, he would sit on my back and let himself rest." Aro said, remembering what she was like being a foal. "I have always been rather calm and loved observing nature, which does not change the fact that I would like to run in the meadow with you sometimes."
"Even now?" The young girl perked up.
"Who's last, the stinky fish!" Laughing, Aro took off towards the meadow. After all, running was one of her favorite activities.
