pkmn name: Katachi
gender: male
prompt:
The brown fox pants, eyes wide, overly focused on his opponent. In the background, he can hear his trainer screaming, but his mind isn’t rendering the commands. Yes, he could win if only he’d listen, but he’s too caught up in the moment. Power rushes through his veins, warms his fur until he feels nothing but heat.
There’s no time to think about what he should do; there’s never time to think in battle. Katachi takes one step forward, then he’s enveloped in dark, hostile energy. It sears his fur, burns his skin, and all the eevee can think is this is what power feels like—
—or, from his perspective as he faints, this is how weakness is.
[...]
Katachi wakes with his trainer’s hand in his fur. His head still hurts; he’s still drunk on power, but he’s sober enough to hear the subtle disappointment when the young man announces, “You lost.”
So what? Katachi thinks. He learned from fighting that umbreon. Now he has a goal: fight, evolve; evolution is power. Besides, his trainer loves dark-types.
Katachi nuzzles his trainer’s fingers, nips it once and lightly draws blood. His trainer looks down, and maybe he sees the dark intent in Katachi’s eyes because he scoffs: “You’re too much like me, Katachi. You lose, you want, you never stop.”
The eevee makes a noise akin to agreement, then closes his eyes. He and his trainer, they can strengthen themselves at a later time, once Katachi is rested. It’s enough for now that the young man approves of his choice. Their bond is strange, almost starter-like in appearance, but that’s fine — umbreons need trust to evolve, friendship, whatever. He and his trainer, they’re simply two shadows entangled too deep for their own good.
yours! this was extremely hard to decide, but this prompt answer is awesome! i love the connection to your trainer and found the battle scene really cool :00
