Two pesky little creatures
What sort of mischief have this collie and Echolocation gotten up to together? With a partner, tell me a short story (about 300-500 words) and provide one art piece about their best night of trouble! You must split the work evenly, one task for each partner.
Please post on the page of the collie that you are interested in winning - your partner will post on the other.

Name: adikia
Name Meaning: greek goddess of injustice, relating to the hard life her and her friend have to go through
Gender: female
Link to partner's form: marz barz
Prompt:
the building rose high into the night. the sky was full of clouds, allowing no light to pass through. because of this, the two dark figures dashing through the shadows blended into the darkness. one figure, a scruffy and thin collie looking like a rip-off raccoon lead the way down an alley. the other figure, a small male with large white stripes followed closely behind the leader.
“are you sure we should be doing this, adikia?” the male said, his voice quiet as to not alert anyone who may be awake.
“of course prometheus, we’ll be fine.” adikia reassured him, a small smile on her lips as she glanced back at him. “besides, we need the food.” she quickened her pace ever so slightly, her paws light and feathery to avoid noise. prometheus didn’t respond, but he joined her pace and walked up beside her.
at last, adikia stopped in front of a large fence near the end of the alleyway. the plan had been discussed beforehand, prometheus as a look out while adikia snuck into the fence to grab some food. they quickly stacked a few boxes for prometheus to stand on, giving him a clear view of the alley and the fenced in area. adikia crouched down near a small hole in the fence. it was just wide enough that she could get in.
“what do you see?” she whispered.
“theres a dog house in the far right corner, but it seems that the dog is asleep. there’s also a chain, so they may be chained up. oh! and a few feet away from the fence is the food. looks like some dog bag and a bowl, but the bowl’s empty.” prometheus gave a quick run down of the area, his eyes scanning to make sure there was anything else important to note. the area had a few toys strewn about, but that wouldn’t effect them.
adikia nodded and pushed herself through the hole. there was a quick struggle, but because of her malnourished body she was able to squeeze through. the goal was to grab the dog bag and get out as soon as possible. without waking up the other dog. she crouched down, her chest almost touching the pavement, and slowly stalked forward. her eyes were locked onto the bag and if felt like hours before she was close enough to grab it.
the bag was large enough to feed both of them for weeks and it seemed brand new too. she grabbed the edge of the food and slowly dragged it forward. but, she didn’t account for the piece of wood the bag was laying against. when she moved the bag, the wood fell to the ground and made a loud noise. both collie’s eyes darted toward the house. adikia pulled the bag quicker towards the hole. she laid it against the fence and pushed it toward prometheus. just as he grabbed the bag, a growl came from the dog house. adikia’s head swiveled to the noise and in the entrance a large mastiff stood.
prometheus hurriedly dragged the bag up the fence, his paws scrambling to find a proper purchase. the mastiff stalked fowards, it’s eyes locked onto adikia. when prometheus finally pulled the bag over, she dashed to the hole. in her scramble she misjudged it, but was still able to dash into it. her back legs kicked out, helping her scramble in. prometheus jumped down from his perch and grabbed her scruff to pull her through. just as the mastiff was about to grab her tail, she scrambled to the other side. they tumbled to the ground, panting hard and hearts racing. after making eye contact, prometheus broke out into small giggles, a wobbly smile across his face.
“well, at least we got food!”

Username: werepickle Name: Rac Name Meaning: (optional)
Gender: Female Link to partner's form: DuckLemmon8747 Prompt:
Let me introduce you to Rac and Echo, the towns resident thieves They were a pair of hungry, clever, mischievous, “good-for-nothing” strays, their dark coats aiding them to commit their thefts. The pair had an impeccable ability to sneak their way into the yards of unsuspecting victims. Rac and Echo never wanted to live like this, as strays. Rac used to live in a nice home with a great family and endless amounts of love but no discipline or training and the adults fed up with her antics and unable to find anyone to take her, threw her out to live on the streets. Echo on the other hand was born on a puppy farm and was bought by a disreputable, abusive man who raised him to be a hunting dog due to his dark colours being able to help him hide while hunting prey, eventually even though having a strong sense of loyalty Echo had to get out of there. One of their most memorable nights was when the pair caused an incredible amount of chaos and that was by stealing people's laundry. The pair would grab onto clothes and swing around on the clothesline before taking off with the clothing. They'd make off with t-shirts, pants, socks, anything they could get their jaws on, nothing was spared by the wrath of Rac and Echo. When Rac and Echo finished terrorizing a backyard they'd transport the clothing back to their den, inside an abandoned warehouse surrounded by weeds and rubble. The terrible duo would terrorize many backyards in a night and could practically blend in with their surroundings. Rac’s favourite were socks, they made great tug-o-war toys, while Echo loved swinging jumpers around. The town ranger could never catch them, especially when they used cunning and sly tricks.

Link to partner's form: Southern sweetiePrompt:Rapscallion wasn't entirely sure where to put the blame here.
Maybe it was on his restless paws demanding him sate his own boredom. Maybe it was his nostalgia that pulled him into the attic as he passed it on his way to the door. Maybe it was the whim that drew him toward the large leather bound book. Maybe it was his curiosity, intrigued by what such an old leather bound book was doing dispersed among the old photographs there.
Or maybe it was the fact he'd seen the words When You're in Need of Mischief scrawled at the top of a random page in his mother's elegant hand and had immediately been hooked.
But who could say? It's not like it actually mattered who's fault this was (not his, certainly). In the end all that mattered was before he knew it it was night and he was alone in the woods, a pile of scattered bones and trinkets laying in a pit before him. Mist coiled around him, so thick it almost felt heavy. Something was in the air.
"This will be perfect… Everything is going according to plan," he chirped out, a happy wiggle shivering through his body. He nosed the last piece into place and stepped back, grinning with pride at his own efforts.
The mist exploded outward in a rush, curling like claws through the night. Energy hissed like gas releasing and sparks shot out, sending Rapscallion tumbling backwards away from the lit in a shock. He ducked down, head under his paws protectively.
A loud "ahhhhhh!" and the faint cracking of bone cut through the commotion. This was followed quickly by the sound of someone shaking themself. Wait. Was someone stretching??? What??? Scal stood up, head tipping to the side curiously as he approached the pit again. He wasn't sure what he expected, exactly, but what he saw made his jaw drop.
Standing there, amongst the remnants of the smoke, was another dog. "W-wait.. HuH?!" His dumb mouth declared. The strangers face whipped toward him, eyes almost glowing as they zeroed in on him. He winced, stepping back nervously, hair on end and fear gripping his gut.
"'It is about time someone called for me," crooned the stranger, his voice coming from behind now. Scal jumped, all but tumbling down into the pit, with a shout of surprise. The other collie chuckled, teeth glinting and head thrown back in delight at this reaction.
"Please don't eat me!"
Okay, maybe, maybe, in retrospect, that was a stupid conclusion to jump to, but in his defense he was pretty freaked out. Either way, the striped dog seemed to take delight in it, all but howling in amusement. After a moment he stopped, those amber eyes running over him once again, "That seems a bit counterproductive, evolutionarily speaking, given you are of my line."
Rapscallion blinked. And blinked again. Then his head tilted slowly as he replied, eloquently as always. "What?"
The older dog let out a soft huff, almost exasperated. "You. Are descended from me," he explained slowly, as if talking to a child. "My name is Salvatore."
Rapscallion huffed, indignant at this, and puffed his chest out as if that alone would prove that he was no child. "O-oh?" he demanded, wincing internally at the crack in his own voice. "Why are you here?"
His ancestor stared a moment, his own head slowly tilting, as if he couldn't understand this situation any better than Rapscallion did. That made him feel better, marginally. "Well," he drawled, stepping back toward him, movement like a shadow. "If you have nothing in mind… I do not typically concern myself with satisfying such childish desires but I find myself feeling quite generous. And I suppose you do deserve some sort of reward for awakening me after so long. How would you feel about indulging this restless spirit in a bit more mischief?"

Name: AAKs The Masked Prowler | Dolos
Name Meaning: In Greek mythology, Dolos is the spirit of trickery, master at deception and craftiness.
Gender: Male
Link to partner's form: buckskin.
Prompt:
“Come on come on come on!” Dolos shout-whispered through the bag he was carrying in his mouth. He and Drac had just hit another unsuspecting house for dog treats and food, and the person had almost caught them red-handed.
“I’m coming!” Drac barked back, gathering up his bag in his mouth and turning to follow Dolos. They heard a person shout “hey!” as he caught a glimpse of two streaks of grey rushing out the open back doggy door, but the two dogs were too quick, too quiet, too good at this to get caught.
Keeping their footsteps as light as possible, they high-tailed it out of the yard, carrying as much of their new stash as they could. Dog treats flew out of Drac’s bag through a small tear, but all he could do was keep running. Eventually they made it to their spot in the small forest outside of town where they kept their stash. It had been running out for days.
“Phew that was a close one!” Drac said, putting down his bag and adding the meager additions to the pile hidden behind some rubble, where their treats and food were kept safe from being found and safe from the elements.
“Yeah, we need to be more careful…” Dolos said, sighing. He turned over his bag and added what he had gotten to the bag as well. “That was one of the nicest houses in the neighborhood, I’m surprised they didn’t have even better security.”
They looked at the pile and exchanged glances. “One more?” Drac asked. “Sounds good.” Dolos responded with a nod.
Making sure their pile was safe by dragging the tarp over it, they turned around and started back towards the suburban neighborhood they had come from. Those houses were nice, but when they got lucky, the security was lax enough to allow them access to the house through an unwatched and unlocked doggy door. Dolos had discovered this secret a while ago, and since Drac was always up to help him, they had formed a team.
Once more, they snuck around the back streets and yards, looking with their keen eyes for an entrance. Spotted. The pair snuck up to the door, careful to pad softly so as to not alert anyone. It was dark, and the lights were off, but they noticed and nodded to Daisy. She was one of the neighborhood dogs that they knew, that would mind her business as they crept into the house. In, follow their noses, grab as much as they could without a sound, and out. This one had been easy.
Once they had gone back to their hidden food and treats with their new considerable supply, they loaded up the food onto a cart they had along with it. Wheeling it through side streets they knew weren’t occupied, they made it to a communal area where stray dogs were gathered. “Hey guys!” They barked, alerting them to their presence. “We’ve got some food for everyone!”

everyone had such amazing forms, it was hard to choose just one pair to award these collies to! however, paopu and southern sweetie took a very vivid turn from the prompt and provided such a detailed story of mischief (and misadventure) that they stood out among the rest. congratulations to the both of you for winning this pair of creatures!
and congratulations to everyone who entered as well - all of you provided such well thought out stories and artwork, often telling stories of hardships and familial bonding, that I couldn't let you all walk away empty handed - I'd like to offer everyone runner-up semi custom collies! these collies will also be related, but will not have the same markings as the two you entered for - each pair is welcome to come up with a new 'theme' to base their collies on, or simply provide a couple of markings they're interested in.
here's how to claim your pair:
- try and come up with a unifying theme with your partner. maybe you'd like two dark coated collies that blend into the night, or perhaps you'd like for them to be 'ghosts and spirits'!
- have one person from each partnership message me (discord is preferred) with a theme name and/or the basic unifying features (ie, ghost and spirit - both high white, one with Kb ghost markings, spirit has blue eyes). you may also each choose a single breed specific marking and specify a base coat color (black and red, blue and silver), but you may not design their entire coats.
- coats for these runner-up collies will be smooth (L_), with a small random chance of each pair carrying rough or curly.
- and feel free to message me if there are any questions or concerns!
