You're walking by on a somewhat chilly autumn morning when out of the bushes lining the sidewalk behind you something rather large and fluffy grabs onto the back of your pants. You turn to see what it could of been, but the husky quickly retreats back into the hedge. You can see a pair of dark eyes looking out at you, but that's it. Though they don't appear aggressive, just a little mischievous.

you laugh lightly, a small smile gracing your lips. the husky lets out a yip and disappears into the brush. you have the need to chase it, but upon thinking it out, that wouldn’t be a good idea. so you sit down and wait for it to appear again. soon after, two eyes glow back at you, the husky returning from where ever it dashed off to. moving your hand forward, you feel a light breath against it, letting the husky sniff you.

the eyes disappear again, but after a quick rustling of leaves a snout pops out of the brush. in the husky’s maw is a smooth black rock. it drops the rock into your still outstretched hand. the husky seems pleased with itself, as you can here more leaves moving behind it. almost like their tail was wagging. you laugh again, your small burst of joy making you close your eyes. when you reopen them, you jump back in shock. the husky’s now sitting in front of you!

she’s a beautiful color, her coat the most stunning you’ve ever seen. her head is eye level with your own, and you get a great opportunity to look at her eyes. all it took was to let the husky do what she needed to do and now she seemed to be attached to you.

With Badger Buddies Working Dogs Kennel being, well, a kennel that focuses on training working dogs, everyone around the kennels always has a treat pouch on them. So when a mysterious husky emerged from the foliage before quickly retreating, there was no question on what to do. The treat pouch clipped to the jeans of the trainer who had encountered the mystery pup was filled with just some basic kibble, as she was going to work with one of the more advanced dogs at the training center who no longer needed as enticing of a reward. The kibble was not enough to motivate the hidden dog to reemerge. The trainer called in for backup, telling a colleague “Get the cheese”. The temptation of both cheese and a new friend was too much for the hidden pup, and they quickly bolted out from the bushes to gobble up the cheesy goodness and for some cuddles from their new friend.

Prompt: I approach the shy little pup slowly, giving them some space. I'd crouch down to their level so they wouldn't be threatened by my height. I'd then hold out my hand with a treat in it and wait for him to take it. "It's ok, I won't hurt you", I'd whisper. I'd slowly reach my hand up and stroke their head. "That's a good dog" I whispered.

250/250
My first thought was this Baltic was too nervous to approach me, perhaps they saw me as threatening or dangerous. Thankfully, I had a book in my backpack. Unzipping it, I sit down in the autumn leaves and begin to softly read it aloud. I keep my eyes on the book to take the pressure off the pup, but also allowing it to hear my voice and perhaps begin to feel more comfortable. But I soon begin to fear he or she may not come after all.

Taking a baggy of cheese out of my backpack, and a small saucer, I place the saucer next to me with a few strong-smelling pieces of cheese on it. I then revert my eyes to the book and continue to read aloud. "And so with a soft smile, I continued on my walk down the neverending path," I begin, when I suddenly hear the soft chewing sounds of a dog. Success! The removal of the pressure of being watched and the strong mouth-watering smell of the cheese must have finally lured the husky out of his or her hiding place. Smiling, I look back up and they lift their head to watch me as they chew. "You're safe here," I smile, but move my eyes back down to the ground as to not intimidate them once more.

Reaching my hand out with a piece of cheese, I smile as a slobbery pair of jowls take it from my hand. "Good dog," I whisper.

Not sure how I managed exactly 250 but I'm proud

Prompt: Its late at night and youre sitting by the warm campfire when you notice two eyes peering at you through the darkness. Unsure on what to do you you stay by the campfire and start cooking some vension. The eyes appear to move closer you assume because of the smell of the cooking meat. Your careful tear a piece off and throw it towards to bushes. All you hear is a small snap as the creature gobbles up the meat. Suddenly the creature comes through the bushes and realise that its a dog. You go into your tent and grab two bowls and retreat back outside. You walk towards the dog but it retreats back into the bushes. You place the bowls next to each other and fill one with water. You carve some of the tender meat off the vension and place it in the empty bowl. You resume you place next to the fire and wait for the meat to finish cooking. A small rustle gets your attention and you glance up to see the dog emerg from the bushes and pad its way over to the bowls. After enjoying its meal it pads the the furthest side of the fire and lays down. You realized this is the start of a wonderful journey.

I wasn't expecting a nip on my jeans as I trudged back towards the train. I had come into the city to fetch the chocolate my mother was waiting for back home, since she must've forgotten we were out before deciding to bake muffins.
I looked back and saw a wet nose pull back into the bushes. The nose was that of a dog.
I looked around for an owner. Across the road I saw another pedestrian, otherwise the street was empty. Everyone was inside today, sheltered from snowy weather.
I knelt down before the beast. Peering into the shrub, the streetlight above me highlighted the dog's eyes. It looked at me, I looked back. I was as uneasy as she was.
The street remained quiet. A breeze rolled over my body, and I heard the jingle of a bell from a keychain on my backpack.
The dog yipped. It seemed she wanted to nip at me again.
      Was it the bell....?
I slid the backpack off my shoulder and unclipped the charm that held the bell.
I stepped back and jingled the bell. The dog's paws poked from underneath the leaves as she inched towards me.
      ---
Her infatuation with bells became clear when I introduced her to some dogs back home. When the dogs had their jingly harnesses on, she tried to suckle one of the dams. It must be that her mother, before she had become abandoned, wore a bell. The poor pup simply misses her mom. [249]

The pair of eyes followed me, watching my every movement. I lowered myself to the ground and reached into my pouch for a treat before tossing it towards the hedge. Its nose poked out and sniffed it before it snorted and swatted the treat away. Its eyes continued to gleam at me.

I took a nearby fallen branch and slid it on the floor in an effort to coax it out through play. That seemed to catch its attention more as its eyes lid up at the branch swishing just out of reach. Its paws slid out every so often, trying to reach for the branch. Despite the effort, it still remained in the shadows of the shrubbery.

How odd. It was rather cat-like.

That’s when I got an idea and reached into my back pocket for a laser pointer. I pointed it to the ground and moved its the glowing red dot seemed to do the trick as within moments, the husky came bounding out of the hedge, excited to chase down the little dot.

walking with a large pack of huskies was a talent. one that needed fine honing and quick counting skills.

and given i had just done a headcount and found that none had strayed too far for comfort, the undoubtedly husky shaped figure in the bush made very little sense. blinking down at the dog and then away - just for a moment, half expecting them to disappear as i checked for someone who could be accompanying them, though no one should be: this part of the property wasn't open for dog walkers - and found no one around.

slipping my hand into my pocket, i fished out a treat and tossed it down just in front of their paws - just from what i could make out, they seemed to be on the larger scale - before turning to call the pack back from where they'd strayed out of sight, doing a quick count with the command to sit and wait. all there, and grumbling noisily at being recalled. but none of them broke the command as i moved to sit in front of the hedge - success!

"hello, stranger," i murmured, reaching into my pocket and tossing out another treat of beef or chicken, as those were the flavours i had used in the batch i brought out with me, just in front of their paws. and then another. and another, until the dog made their way back out from hiding to take one gingerly from my hand, tail wagging. "good pup."
