euphorian thoroughbred 1246

Postby mongrel » Sat Aug 14, 2021 10:40 am

Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings, but otherwise, they share the same long, strong legs, powerful hind, and great speed of ordinary Thoroughbreds. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually are somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Pick how your Euphorians move forwards!

the final horse from the 1243 build a horse!!
does this horse follow his head or his heart? if he follows his head, tell me about a time he followed his heart. if he follows his heart, tell me about a time he followed his head.

show name: Second Wind
barn name: Verdant
gender: Stallion
halter: (#F7E7CE) with silver buckles
height: 16.2hh

prompt:
Verdant has always been a thinker, turning to logic when it came to making big decisions or giving advice. To him, there was nothing better than thinking from a more logical perspective, finding that using problem-based reasoning had given him the best chance at making better choices and allowed him to find better opportunities. Verdant always has put his faith and confidence in book smarts, rather than taking a more holistic perspective and acknowledging that some decisions are best made with your feelings in mind.

For as long as Verdant has lived, he still has trouble using his heart instead of his head, his advice during hard times coming off more insensitive than what he truly meant them to be. He has never been very good at picking up on what is the right or wrong time to use logistics when it comes to comforting his friends, so he tends to let his other peers worry about it, so he doesn't make things worse. There are points in time however, where he wishes he could be a bit more empathetic, so he can truly be there for the people he cares for.

There had been a point in time where one of the ladies he fancied responded to his hello with a sad grunt, to which immediately worried him. After asking what ailed her, she had explained how she had just gotten news that her close childhood friend passed away. Immediately Verdant balked, knowing all too well that this was dangerous territory for him. How could he comfort the girl he liked without making the situation worse?

He battled with himself mentally over what to say for long enough that the girl sighed, wishing him a good day, and making her way to the barn. Before she could get any further, he stopped her, sighing and uttering a soft "I'm sorry", before offering his condolences and a shoulder to lean on during this difficult time. The filly smiled softly then, nudging against him before returning to her stable.

Sometimes, it's best to offer a safe space for someone to vent their frustrations without having to say a single word back on your part. That day, Versant realized just how true that was.

show name: SLA Head Over Hooves
barn name: Cupid
gender: Stallion
halter: Artist choice
height: 18hh

prompt: Cupid was notorious for too often following his heart over his head, which would sometimes lead to him being emotionally manipulated by those who felt the need to take advantage of his heart.

One day, a rather scrawny, underweight stallion had stopped and asked Cupid for assistance finding his long-lost daughter, a filly named Faline. Feeling a twinge of sympathy as he listened to the stallion talk so fondly about this "daughter" of his, he remembered there was a young mare in his herd named Faline. But then it occurred to him- Faline had always said her father had passed away. So who was this stranger claiming to be her long-lost father?

Feeling conflicted, Cupid realized he had to make a decision. Should he believe this unfortunate story of this stallion and bring him to Faline? His story just didn't seem to add up. Finally coming to a conclusion, Cupid decided that he should be logical rather than emotional, and ask Faline first. And boy was he glad he did, as upon bringing this up to Faline, the mare confirmed her father had passed away years ago, and that she did not know of this strange stallion.

From that day forward, Cupid still wore his heart on his sleeve, and followed his heart often, however logic and his head now played a bigger role in his descisions after the close call.

show name: SC I'll Still Dream of You
    barn name: Fellow
    gender: Stallion
    halter: #386e4f with gold hardware
    height: 16 HH

    prompt:

Well there's that handsome fella. Sweetest damn colt we got, doesn't even kick at his ma or nothing.

      -

Fellow is his name and his heart is what he follows. There's not a single mean bone in his body, and he's well-known for it. That's the horse you can put the kids on, that's the horse you can trust to never start a fight with another stud. Even if that other stud is snorting and pawing and acting like he needs to show up every other horse in the vicinity just to let the mares know how big and bad he is. Fellow? No, he won't even huff. He just pricks his ears and watches with his gentle eye.

Fellow is a bit of a romantic, finding joy in everything, no matter how little. He's the first to comment on the sunrise or sunset, the first to call a compliment to the horse passing his stall, and the only one who finds happiness in everyone's least favorite pasture. 'That barren bit, there,' he'd tell you, 'is perfect for rolling if you fluff it up a touch first. And the grass 'round the poplar is a bit tough, but the grains on the tops are delicious.'

His heart is warm and kind, patient and understanding. Fellow has always followed it, and would again and again. Because when he does he can brighten another horse's day, make a child smile, or even make his own day just a little happier. That's not to say his heart hasn't gotten him in trouble before. After all, doesn't it make everyone happy when he notices that no one locked the pasture gate? That grass on the lawn is all tender... and sweet... It really is better on the other side of the fence.

      -

Fellow thinks poorly of leading life by following his head rather than his heart. It's too logical, too practical. It feels cold and resigned, like looking at the sunset and simply realizing that night is coming instead of enjoying that last trace of warmth, or the warm colors that fade into the dusky blue of late evening. Still, there was one time when he found it safer to follow his head instead.

It happened when he had to leave to another stable. It was a change he didn't welcome. He had been on this farm since he was three. The older man who had been there when he was born had swooped him up in an instant when his racing career didn't turn out, and brought Fellow to his own farm where he lived with his daughter and her children. Fellow realized, when a young woman showed up, checked him over, rode him around the arena in each of his gaits, and talked a long time with the man, that he was being sold again.

Fellow's heart? It said he wanted to stay in the only place he ever really knew. He wanted to kick up a fuss and mope and never take a step out of his stall ever again. This was where he was happy! Why would he ever want to leave?

But his head? His head said to be logical, and for once in his life it felt safer to listen. He was leaving, no matter how much of a fuss he made, because humans could be just as stubborn as he could be. This new stable would have new opportunities, new riders to meet and take care of. There would be new pastures to explore and new trees to lounge under. He would find new favorites. He would explore new trails.

His head did the thing his heart usually did. It whispered, It will be okay.

A week later Fellow said his goodbye to the old man and his grandchildren, who clung to his lowered head and wet his fur with their tears. In the trailer, he watched the farm go by, with its sprawling green pastures and white-painted fences and quaint little farm house. He watched it grow smaller and smaller, until a bend in the road made it quite suddenly disappear. His heart clenched in his chest. But his head -

It will be okay, his head whispered. It will be okay.
