Thylacines were marsupials which meant the females had pouches to contain their young. But unlike other marsupials the pouch is more back on the female’s tummy

Fun fact: These animals could open their mouths almost 90 degrees, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica. However, a study in the August 2011 Journal of Zoology found that the Tasmanian tiger wouldn’t have been able to kill large prey because of its weak jaw. The authors thought that the animal would have hunted for small marsupials like wallabies and possums.

Fun fact: Although Tasmanian Tigers looked like dogs, they didn't walk or run like modern canines. When startled, Thylacines briefly and nervously hopped on their two hind legs, and eyewitnesses attest that they moved stiffly and clumsily at high speeds.

Fun fact: While thylacines certainly looked dangerous, they were incredibly timid. Most of them were captured without a fight! They were also very sensitive, most said to have, 'died suddenly' - likely from stress and shock.
