Movie and Why: One of my favorite movies from my childhood is Princess Mononoke. Lady Eboshi is the leader of the iron town, headstrong, confident, and ambitious. She saves women from indentured servitude and provides work for those deemed inefficient for work during that time period. She destroys the forest surrounding the town to fuel the flames of progress. She single-handedly leads the effort to create a powerful weapon, the rifle, to protect her people from the samurai war. She goes as far as to hunt the Forest Spirit, to create a utopian sanctuary for her town. In the climax of the movie, Lady Eboshi is the one to shoot and kill the Forest of the Spirit - without fear and hesitation.

Lady Eboshi dominates every scene she is in with a quiet presence that just couldn’t be ignored. Instead of being lead by the plot, she’s one of those characters that pushed it forward. Just like this fantastic and complex character, Lady of the Iron is a challenging but a rewarding companion. Fiercely loyal, protective, and independent. She can be difficult to handle, but you can take advantage of her competitiveness to get her more motivated ; ) Her handsome looks is always a show-stopper and calls for attention, just like Lady Eboshi in Princess Mononoke.

movie and why: a silent voice is a japanese animated coming-of-age psychological drama produced by kyoto animation, directed by naoko yamada and written by reiko yoshida. based on the manga of the same name by yoshitoki oima, themes covered by the film include school bullying and the integration of disabled people in society. characters deal with handling guilt within a community, redemption for mistakes of the past, forgiveness and self-respect.

i chose this movie and name because of the personality i see this tibetan spitz having. she is young with an amazingly positive outlook on life, and even with all of the challenges thrown her way she still always has a smile on her face. she is hard to anger and cares deeply for those around her. despite her trouble communicating with others, she is driven to making friends and showing everyone just how much they matter. she gives herself wholly to those around her.
