He did not have a name. Upon his tag he merely had an array of names that others had called him.

Upon his desk, however, he found a letter. Handwriting from someone he did not recognize, although when he picked up the letter, he knew it was a prayer to him. Or so he thought, anyways.

Dearest God, or whoever this concerns,

I have been informed through one way or another that you have been interceiving my contract requests. I am not aware of how, whether it be the Exalted or some other freak of nature, but I am requesting, politely, that you cease what you are doing immediately. You are interfering with my work, and I do not appreciate it.

In case you need it stated again, I am requesting you cease whatever you are doing to interfere with my contracts.

Next to the very brief signature was a sticker of an eye, and the god thought that was charming.
Until it blinked at him, anyways.
As soon as he finished reading the letter, the paper it was written on disintegrated - all written prayers did that up here. He mulled over what he’d seen on the letter, pondering what it meant - and who it was from. He wasn’t aware he was interfering with others’ work - he had recently been appointed by someone he knew only as “Tristan”.
He simply shrugged and focused on the other tasks he had at hand.


He’d helped a young blonde man with something he was having trouble with a couple of weeks later. He hadn’t caught the man’s name, although he seemed very polite - after he had helped, the man had run over to someone else, another male with darker blue hair.
After that task, he returned to his desk a day later to find another letter. It had the same handwriting as the first one he had received, and he gave a laugh. Uh oh.

To whom it may concern.

Word has gotten to me through my dear Watcher that you are still interfering with my contracts. He seemed surprised when he found out I had already sent you a prayer before. I assume you haven’t seen him, which means he’s doing his job well and not taking stupid risks.

Perhaps I was not clear the first time. Stop interfering with my work, and stop intervening with Riley. I have as much of a job to do as you do, you know; so it would be very much appreciated if you would take your leave.
I will not be happy if I have to find you again. And the next one may not be through letter.

Once again, the letter was adorned with an eye sticker, and he felt like he was being watched. The letter disintegrated in his hands. He was just doing what he was supposed to, how was he to know that what he was doing was interrupting someone else’s work?


He spent more of his time figuring out who it was that sent him the letter. He’d reached out to Tristan about it, and Tristan didn’t know much about the sender - only that they were another god of the universe or something, with an affinity for eyes. What a puzzle to behold, really.
He’d almost forgotten about the letters when he received a knock on his door.
“Yes?”
“Someone is here to speak with you.”
The god got to his feet, pushing his chair in neatly before taking his leave to the appropriate meeting room.
“I assume you’re here for a verbal prayer?”
“You know, I’ve started to think that perhaps you are bad at your job.”
Seated in one of the chairs on one side of the table was a cream & white tabby with large wings and folded ears. His blue & red eyes met his own cyan ones, and he couldn’t read an expression.
“I’m going to need your name before we can begin.”
The cat in front of him sighed. “The name is Eyeris.”
Made sense, he figured. Fitting name for someone who had an affinity for eyes. He settled in the chair across from Eyeris, clasping his hands together. “So, please make your prayer.”
“I presume you are already aware of the two previous prayers I have sent to you. When you very clearly disregarded what I wrote, I felt it was time to pay a visit face to face.” He paused, quirking his brow toward the Kalon. “I am requesting, in person this time, that you cease what you’re doing.”
“I am unaware of how I am interfering with your work, so I am sorry with that.” He replied. “I can possibly see what I could do, but no promises.”
“One more thing.” Eyeris’ gaze seemed to firm on him, and he suddenly felt small.
“Yes?”
“If I find out you’re interfering with Riley, I will be paying another visit. And I will ensure it will not be pleasant.”
He pushed himself up from the table. “I will be taking my leave now. Don’t forget what I’ve said to you.”
With a flick of his tail, Eyeris was gone.
Perhaps the unnamed god would have to file his own prayer to whoever was above him.

"For such a little guy, you really pray big."

That's all Aries could remember hearing after waking up in a strange place. Everything was metal and cold to the touch. The fluorescent lights made Aries' eyes water and he rolled away from them. A solid cement wall is what was in front of him now. Aries didn't like where he woke up as his skin shuttered. He slowly sat up and looked around the tiny cube he was trapped in. Scared, cold, lost, and hungry, Aries curled himself up into a ball to hopefully preserve what little body heat he had. He started to close his eyes once again but through the vents, a voice echoed,

"Are you okay kid?"

This made Aries perk up in a second, looking for vent where the voice came from. He opened his mouth to call back out to the voice but he couldn't make a sound. He ran his hands over his neck and felt a deep scar that was sore to the touch. Aries had lost his voice. Someone or something had taken his voice. He wanted to scream back to the voice and ask them all the questions running through his head like where am I, what is happening, how did I get here, and many others. But without a voice, Aries couldn't do anything but hit the wall twice for yes. A few moments passed and there was no response from the voice. Aries' hope left his body. Without a voice, he was out of options.

"I heard two knocks, so I'm going to assume you're okay."

Aries rushed back to the wall to knock twice again. He looked at the air vent with hope filling his eyes. Another few words from this voice were all that Aries could hope for. The only communication he had with anyone was coming through an air vent and that was the only thought that repeated in his head. Aries could feel his body shaking with anxiety. Time passed and nothing came from the vent. Aries let the hope leave his eyes in tears. Through the tears, he looked around the small room. The walls were all cement and one wall had a heavy metal door with a small barred window. Aries slowly shuffled towards the door when all of the sudden,

"I would get away from the door if I was you."

Aries jumped back from the door and stared back at the air vent. He sent back two knocks on the wall hoping to get more words out of the voice from the vents. But once again nothing. Aries sunk back to the cold cement floor. The room felt smaller and smaller as time passed. Everything in there was bare. With a deep sigh, Aries knocked back on the wall twice hoping that maybe the voice would call back to him. Aries heard someone clear their voice and his ears perked right up.

"I'm Godfred, but just call me God."

The voice echoed back through the vents. Aries knocked twice to show that he heard it and knew who he is talking to. "Godfred, what an interesting name..." is what popped into Aries' head. After another long pause from the voice again, Aries just sat and tried to remember how he got here. Aries couldn't remember anything and not just about how he got there, but he couldn't remember anything that had ever happened to him. He started to panic. "How could I not remember anything about anything?" was running through his mind.

"Child calm your mind down, it's going to be okay and I'm going to save you."

Aries was stunned for a second, but he knocked twice against the wall once more. "Who is going to save me?" puzzled Aries' mind as he stared at the air vent. With nothing to do in the room but wait, Aries tried to make himself as comfortable as possible while he waited for another message from God. Time passed and passed and Aries could feel himself falling asleep. He didn't release how tired and exhausted he was. As Aries drifted to sleep God spoke in such a calm soothing voice that it felt like they were right there next to Aries on the cold hard floor.

Dream sweet Aries, I will rescue you tomorrow.

Aries finally drifted to sleep on the frigid floor. His mind started to dream. At first, it was all abstract shapes and colors but then out of all the abstractness came a face. The eyes were bright and broke through the darkness first. They were neon pink and blue blazes of light. Then came a golden face shape with large teeth. The face was terrifying at first but then a wave of security came over Aries and he just felt like he needed to trust this mysterious floating head. The face became smaller and a body started to appear below it. The being was all black with pops of pink and blue, the same shades the eyes were. Once the body was fully in focus, all the abstract colors left and it was just this being standing in front of Aries.

"Welcome to your mind Aries, I'm God"

Aries froze in his dream. "Was this the kal that was attached to the voice talking to him through the vents?" Aries could do nothing but stand in shock. "Although this form was terrifying if this is God, can he truly save me like he says he can?" That feeling of safety once again washed over Aries and he knew at that moment if he wanted to be saved from wherever he was, he had to trust God. Aries bowed his head in respect towards God. God smiled a toothy grin and bowed his head too. They had come to the conclusion of mutual respect. Then God spoke,

Hello Aries. I'm glad I'm finally able to see you, face to face. You look a lot better than I would've expected since what they put you through was the worst treatment I've seen to this day."

Aries' eyes widened. "Worst treatment? They? Better?" Aries didn't know what to make of this. "What had been happening to him and how can he not remember anything. Why was he trapped here? Who is this Godfred and how would he get me out." So many thoughts just kept racing through Aries' mind when all of the sudden God had clapped and Aries' head immediately stopped worrying and thinking.

"If you want to get out of here and be free, you will do exactly what I say."

Aries nodded with no hesitation. Even though he had no clue what he would be free from or what he would have to do, he knew that he was meant to trust God. God smiled then Aries was jolted awake by thunder. "I must've been asleep for a long time." Aries sat up and rubbed his eyes. Looking around the small bare room, he noticed there was a piece of paper with words written on it. For Aries was scribbled on the front side and inside was a prayer. It read,

Aries,
Repeat this 3 times and tonight I will save you from this horrible place.
-God

Aries took a deep breath as he read the prayer that was inscribed on the paper. He looked towards the air vent. This seemed like the way out. Aries had no clue what he was being saved from but for God to appear in his dreams felt like proof enough that he should trust the prayer on the piece of paper. What harm could it do if he repeated it three times? Aries finally sorted through his thoughts and came to the conclusion to recite the prayer.

"Im calling out into the void
Searching for a savior
Someone to save me from this place
And to watch over me

I ask this out of grace
For someone great to hear me
I am lost and need a rescuer
For someone to take me away

Im looking for someone who is bold
Who is strong enough
Someone who is powerful
With enough humanity

Im calling out into the void
For Godfred to rescue me"

Aries looked around for a sign with hopeful eyes. Nothing had changed though. The door was still bolted shut. The air vent was untouched. Aries smile turned into a frown and his brow furrowed. He had no clue what was going to happen next. What if he had just imagined it all? Aries sat down with his frustration. He was tired once again and he wasn't wanting to fight the feeling. Aries wrapped himself up in a tight ball to keep himself warm. His eyes slowly closed as he dazed off, not knowing what to expect from tomorrow.

"Wake up now and go Aries!"

Aries arose in a second at the sound of God's voice booming through his cell. He didn't know where God's voice came from this time but he knew that it was important. As his eyes scanned the barren room, he noticed the door was cracked open. Aries figured that this is what God meant by go. Aries took a deep breath and pushed the door open. All of the hallway lights flickered from the storm outside. Aries followed the hallway until he was met by two big doors open just enough that Aries could fit through. Aries went through the door and was met by a face full of cold rain. As he slithered through the doors, he turned around the see the place he was leaving and he saw in pink and blue spray paint a note from God.

"Leave this place and I'll protect you"

Aries knew that he could trust God. He nodded and finished leaving the building's doors. He was free from this place. He was going to be safe, no matter what happens. Aries ran into the deep tree that surrounded the building. Not once did Aries turn back to face the place that tortured him to the point where he is a completely lost soul. Aries knew that he would met Godfred again and that gave him the most grounding sensation, to have someone looking out for you. The night engulfed Aries and slowly a soft glow started to follow Aries.

"You're safe now, I'm your guardian now."

Prompt: I forgot how much I missed written prompts its been so long!

It was dark and cold, the trees looking like faces the farther I left reality. My stomach yowled in pain, screaming and begging to eat just whatever it could get a hold of. My vision was distorted, eyes aching from being awake for so long. As my body began to fail, I rolled next to a rotting stump of a fallen tree. I closed my eyes, maybe I can rest here. Everything lost meaning within seconds. From seeing nothing to seeing everything. Bright blue and pink swirled around within my head. "Dear Xoloti please let this end," I thought, "Am I dead? If so, please help me" Not eating for a while has taken its toll, but has it really killed me?

My body felt lifted, was I awoken? I tried to open my eyes, they still felt quite tired. Blue and pink were all I could seem to see as of current, though the only thing that I could control was my consciousness. I wasn't truly seeing this. Suddenly, my eyes were forced open. Two big blue and pink eyes were staring at me, a bright gold face with large fangs following the eyes. I gasped and backed up into the tree.... there is no tree? I looked around quickly, trying to understand what the hell was going on. There was nothing. Everything and nothing all at once.
"Well that's a shame," a low voice stated. The fangs I was looking at weren't moving, but something told me the voice belonged to this being in front of me. They smelled me and peered around. "So you died of starvation? How sad. You could have done better. But seeing that you are here, you truly are pitiful." They walked a light circle in front of me, then proceeded to lay down. "What are you?"

The big creature got up and looked at me. "You really don't know? I'm the god you pleaded for mercy." They snickered and let out a smirk. They poked my exposed ribcage, which left a searing pain due to how skinny I had become. "You asked for my help, so now I am here. You are dead now, though, so I hope you will find it worth it." Yet there's nothing here, I thought. The creature bellowed loudly, clearly amused. This time the face distorted with the laugh, which confirmed my thoughts of this voice belonged to this being. "Well, isn't that unfortunate. You should have asked the others, yet you asked for me. Why would you make such a horrible pick as to which god should be your savior? I'm the reason you got into this mess in the first place." The creature winked, and then disappeared faster than they appeared. Am I alone forever now?

Delightful prompt, glad to be back to try out for kalons after like a year or two. Thank you for the opportunity!

"You go around treating people like trash and getting everything on a silver platter at a wave of your tiny little finger while others have to beg and hope and pray for even the smallest morsel of what you have! Don't you understand? You're the problem in my life. It's not money o-or the poverty, it's you. You make my life so miserable I would rather be without you!" she sobs out the last bit and without turning to look back at him, runs off into the night. His heart breaks as he watches her go but he doesn't know why. She was the main problem in his life too. Always so annoying and too much of a goodie to live her life. He felt something wet on his face and looked up, puzzled at why it was raining. He saw no clouds and reached up to his face and gasped- he was crying. With a small sob he falls to his knees and finally realizes he lost the person who was most dear to him.
