Prompt:Mudstar pads silently through the alley on her way back towards camp. She and her deputy had been chasing some little dogs off their territory, and got separated. She wasn’t worried though, this area was relatively safe. The twolegs are active enough in this area that the ground predators avoid it and the tight alleys discourage the flying predators from hanging around. She glances up at the tall structures the twolegs created, noticing a box on one of their little climbing things. She paws up there to make sure there are no kits in the box. She’s seen entirely too many kits left alone in boxes to trust any boxes she happens across to
not have kits in them.
Once she gets up to the box she’s surprised to find it’s full of twoleg trinkets, usually they keep these inside their structures. The only time she usually sees trinkets like these are when they are damaged, but these all look to be intact best she can tell. She paws through the items curiously, wondering what about them interests the twolegs so much.
She picks up a little brown thing with a yellow star on it, setting it outside the box to examine more closely. She’s seen twolegs put these on their head… she flips it up onto her head experimentally. She wonders what it feels like, would it feel different from the feathers she tried wearing once? She’s not really ever tried to wear the trinkets before.
She’s surprised how light it feels, it also seems to be staying on quite well. She pads in a little circle to test if it will stay on when she walks, then hops up on the railing, walking along that to test if it still stays on. Remarkably the little trinket stays on just fine, she’s never had anything like this before… is this normal? She hops back down carefully pawing the hat off and setting it aside. She decides to try on some more of the trinkets.
She flicks another little hat, this one shaped like a cheese, up on to her head. She does her little circles and hops again, giggling at the little cheese hat bouncing on her head. It’s a very silly little trinket but is such fun to play with. She paws it off her head to grab another little hat to try on, then another and another. This is such fun!
There are other little trinkets in the box though, so she moves to experiment with those too, starting with some colorful cloths she can tie around her neck. There are so many fun patterns and weights of cloth, some are quite thick and hard to tie on her own. But she pads around and hops up on the railing with each to see how it interferes with her movement. Surprisingly the cloths don’t interfere all that much with her ability to move freely. At the end of each
game test she removes the trinket into a pile forming next to the box.
She finds a lot of ribbons as well, testing tying those on various places. These aren’t as fun to wear, she prefers to bat them around when they aren’t attached. She moves on to various bows attached to come kind of clip. She carefully hooks the clips to her fur but immediately yowls batting them off when it pinches her. She
definitely doesn’t like those.
She unceremoniously dumps all those into the pile, moving on to the strings that are continuous loops, she tilts her head humming as she tries to think of the best way to wear them. Eventually she settles on experimentally wrapping them around her tail, paws, and neck. She pads about with them, they are quite light so she doesn’t dislike wearing them like this. But they aren’t as fun as the hats were.
Eventually she puts everything but the little brown hat with a star back in the box. She flicks the hat back up onto her head with a little purr. She likes this one best, but maybe the others will enjoy some of the other trinkets. She nudges the box over the edge, hoping it stays right side up.
The box lands with a loud thump, thankfully remaining right side up. She hops down biting the edge of the box and starts dragging it back to camp with her, the trinkets are rather fun to wear and she wants to share the new accessories with her clan. She’s sure Shadowwish will enjoy them in particular since they are always complaining they are cold when there’s even a slight breeze. Some of these trinkets would cover up more of Shadow’s thin fur helping keep them warm.
