Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness.With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.

Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.

Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.

Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.

Prompt:

"Has anyone seen my hat?" The cold December air was biting, and the stablehand searched the stables desperately, not wanting to brave the weather without at least some protection for her ears.
"Have you checked Ursa's stall?" Came an answer, leading to a scoff from the stablehand.
"No? I haven't even been over there toda-" Peeking over the stall door, just in case, sure enough, buried under a shallow pile of bedding, peeked the gray fabric of her hat.
"Awh," Came a voice from nearby, "She officially loves you."

"Has anyone seen my gloves?" The annoyed tone of the instructor carried out through the arena, the man marching solidly towards the edge of the arena, running a hand over the post where he had definitely left them, he was sure of it. Scanning the area, he spotted someone walking a horse to pasture, the tell-tale black-and-white tail of the thief walking calmly next to her handler. Cheekily, the mare glanced backwards, the white gloves dangling from her lips, still unnoticed by the person next to her.

"This is ridiculous!!" The rider cried, leaning against the trailer, sockless foot held off the ground to prevent mud hitting bare skin. "The class is in twenty minutes! Who took my sock?!"
Sure enough, pushed into the bucket of feed, inconspicuously under a layer of pellets, the sock was found, and nobody lost any money betting on who's feedbucket it was hidden in.

Ursa's a keen collector of clothing! No one's really sure why she does it, it could be the smell of her favourite people, but if the stable staff aren't careful, she'll end up with a wardrobe's worth of various clothing items stashed away in various corners of her stall, or by the tree in her paddock. Her largest haul has been a whole winter coat (no one's really sure how she snuck it past everyone) and her strangest - a boot... that no one seemed to remember losing.

Prompt: Butterfly trotted through the pasture, Where are they?. She snuffled the ground with her snout and her breath caught on a delicate, rare, four-leafed clover. Butterfly's eyes widened in pure glee. She neighed happily and picked the base of the four-leafed clover ever so delicately. Butterfly, once she had gotten a hold on the clover, trotted happily back to her wide open stall were beside the feed bucket lay her tiny green-leafed pile.

A swift, crisp breeze blew through her mane as nostalgia hit her once more. Her mother, Moth, carefully twining four-leafed clovers into her baby's mane with her teeth. "Now I'll always be with you..." Her mother's voice whisper-echo through her ears as she curled up carefully by her pile in her stall, her mother's faint scent pressing against her. "I'll always be with you." The echo said before disapearing.
