Buff held the object in his hand close to his face, a complicated expression of unwillingness to admit defeat and frustration at his situation present on his face. He was simply confused as he held the object closer in an attempt to investigate its inner workings. No button, no openings, no key holes present, simply nothing he could go off of… truly infuriating. Now what he was holding you ask, well it’s very simple, he was currently holding a wooden puzzle, and it was the hardest one he had challenged yet. With all his willpower and sheer determination he looked for any sort of clue to complete this puzzle, at this point in time this was his fifth afternoon spent on it and he had yet to find a clue for its completion.
Why tourture himself in this game of frustration and confusion? Well Buff despised the start of a puzzle, the middle of a puzzle, but absolutely LOVED finishing a puzzle. The thrill, excitement and overall happiness at accomplishing something difficult gave him immense satisfaction and puzzles were an easy/hard way of doing this. He would challenge himself to many different puzzle situations such as escape rooms, chain puzzles, sudokus, word finds, picture puzzles and right now he was testing himself out on a wooden puzzle. This wooden puzzle however, at this moment was the vain of his existence.
He twisted and turned the wooden puzzle over and over, as if he hadn't already done this multiple times already, but he was truly out of thoughts so could only keep doing such repetitive and pointless motions. With a sigh of frustration he slouched into his beanbag still fiddling with the puzzle, wishing for a magical fairy to give him the solution. And you'd never guess, the magical fairy did come. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted in his cabinet draws the answer to all his problems, he couldn’t help but wonder why he had never thought of this before. So five minutes later Buff stood with the unopened puzzle in hand, and a brilliant smile on his face thinking to himself what a genius he was.
I think I forgot to tell you at the start, Buff sometimes used some very unconventional methods to solve puzzles, this was one of those times. Other times included when he was in an escape room, he couldn’t find the locks to open the box so simply pried it open with his bare hands, another example is when he couldn’t complete a picture puzzle so resorted to painting all the pieces the same colour, sawing them into small squares and putting them together, this time he also resorted to some brute force. Buff once again smiled at the opened puzzle and also gave a ‘good job’ to the screwdriver with the word ‘fairy’ printed across it. A great team they made!
Afternoons are truly the best for doing puzzles.
