Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings. Everything else about the sub-type is the same. Long, strong legs, a powerful hind, and great speed. Their eyes are soft and the breed is incredibly smart, if not a bit goofy. They love kids and have the rare ability to excel in any discipline. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Some of these horses will come with a little training already, and will have their new discipline already determined. Although others you’ll get to pick how they move forwards!

gender: mare
age: 10 yr.
height: 16.2hh
halter: artist's choice
discipline: ranch versatility
prompt: she was born only a few months before lucy. the world was far too harsh for such a gentle, sensitive creature; eleanor, from the day the lighter mare hit the ground, took it upon herself to protect her from the brutal reality of the industry they were thrown into at only two years old. despite her best efforts, she couldn't prevent the stinging snap of a crop against lucy's fragile skin during races, lest she feel that same crop on her own hide, only harder, after they'd cross the finish line. she could control, however, whether it would be lucy or herself getting the sharp end of the stick after every race; eleanor was always had more muscle, and those muscles gave her the power to overtake lucy in stride whenever she desired. even as fillies, though, she would allow the smaller, weaker mare to win their kiddy races. as they grew taller and stronger, that same concept was applied to the real thing. no matter how much the crop came down upon her flank, eleanor never let lucy place behind her in a race - she knew if she did, the anger their owner would take out on her after failure to live up to his expectations would instead be directed onto lucy, who she knew was much too delicate to handle such atrocities.
and so she endured this for years, all so lucy would never have to witness the truth of their owner's intentions.
when he finally grew tired of the pair constantly disappointing him, their owner cast them aside as if they meant nothing now that they no longer served any purpose for him. after ages of drifting between barns, they came to a final stop at adagio stables, where they were promised the patience to allow for recovery on their own time.
there, eleanor met the strapping big jack, and for once in her life, she had someone who would stand by and protect her the way she had for lucy for so many years. and for once in her life, lucy was no longer her greatest worry. eleanor watched from afar as she befriended the gentle cecilia and patient lennon, who taught her how to let her fear go. while they still, of course, shared an experience that formed a great bond between them, she gradually started to discover what it meant to be her own individual, learning how to trust others with her precious lucy, and herself - starting with big jack. trust him, he told her, for he would never allow someone to put her through the pain she'd withstood for so long again. she had no reason not to trust him.
together, they spent countless hours wandering across the vast ranch land. he taught her what cows were, and laughed - though never in an ill-intended manner - when she spooked at those strange, big dogs. he waited in the middle of freezing rivers for her to build up the courage within herself to follow after him, and only when they were side-by-side did he continue at whatever pace eleanor was ready for. they would spend every morning and every evening grazing beside each other, and when carolina would tease over the fence about how their foals would be just perfect little darlings, jack would steal shy glances over at her in between bites of grass.
trust him, he told her.
and so she did, because she had no reason not to trust him.
eleanor was too enamored with him to see the subtle jealousy in lucy's eyes as when she gushed over this valiant powerhouse of a stallion.
only when lucy began to whisper to jack over the fence and invite him to come with her on trail rides did she start to take note of their interactions. she thought the way lucy started to cut their talks short with strange excuses that didn't line up was odd, and she couldn't help but feel as though the way jack averted his eyes when eleanor asked of the mare wasn't right. she didn't say anything of it, though, for fear of causing a rift in a lifelong friendship, and because jack told her to trust him.
he started to rush through rivers without waiting for eleanor to catch up to him, and drift farther and farther away from her when they grazed - and closer to the fence, where it seemed lucy would stand inconspicuously more and more.
it was always hard for eleanor to gather the courage to do anything that scared her. she was scared to lose the first one to ever look out for her to the one she had looked out for for years.
but by the time she'd finally pulled herself together to talk to jack about her worries regarding these moments between him and lucy, it was too late. after everything she'd sacrificed for that mare, eleanor couldn't believe she would take away the one she trusted - and loved - the most.
and to think she trusted him.

Barn Name: Hestia
Gender: Mare
Age: 6yrs
Height: 15hh
Halter: Royal purple w/ bronze hardware
Discipline: dressage
Competition: The phrase ‘Fire breathing Dragon’ is something hestia definitely does not fall short of. This sassy little lady has more then just a chip on her shoulder. She’s got it out for someone. And that someone is definitely the farm gander.
The mare shook her mane as Cassidy turned her out to the pasture. Stress wasn’t even something to explain what the poor mare was feeling. Having already had her hooves picked and nasty paste shoved within her mouth. Just about any sensible horse would be just as angry. Trotting with a grudged look on her face; she made quick of the distance between her and the feed bucket. Just as hestia began to actually calm down and enjoy her breakfast; a loud ear straining nose erupted. Mid chew she quickly looked over her bucket line to see a flurry of feathers practically tumbling her way. A low grumble came from deep within her chest. Trying to pin her ears as flat as possible to cancel out the ruckus; she continued on eating and hoping to enjoy whatever little happiness was left with her day.
