Ana tucked her ears behind her head, wrapping them loosely together as if putting hair in a bun. Her mother was always getting on her about those ears. Keep them tidy, her mother's voice rang in her thoughts, or before you know it you'll find yourself sprawled flat on the ground.

Ana wasn't a practiced babysitter. She was an only child, so there were no younger siblings to help care for. In fact, Ana probably never would've agreed to babysit if she had any other choice. But for now, she needed the cash. Odd jobs were all she'd been doing the past few months; keeping to a schedule was never something Ana was good at, so holding down a proper paying position was hard for her.

Tonight, that meant she was caring for a stranger's children. Satisfied with her ears tucked up neat and tidy, Ana worked up the courage to knock on the door. It swung open quickly. Two twins, little black spotted kits, stared up at her. Their parents rushed out the door, thanking Ana and giving a "make sure they're in bed by 8!" as they disappeared into the evening.

Suddenly, Ana was alone with the kits.

"Um. Hi," Ana offered weakly, suddenly nervous. Why did I think this was a good idea? I have no idea how to act around kids...

"Hi!" One of the boys chirped back, smiling widely. "I'm Jake. This is my brother, Todd." He gestured at his twin, an almost perfect mirror image of himself, though slightly smaller. Todd gave her a quick nod, seemingly nervous.

"Alright, well..." Ana began. Oh, crap. What do kids like? "So, uh... What do you boys like to do?"

Jake beamed. "I like to play video games! But mom said we can't play any after dinner." He looked disappointed.

Ana smiled. "I liked to play video games when I was your age, too, though they were a lot different back then. My mom was also pretty strict about them..." That's it, she realized. My mom!

"Y'know, when I was a kid, my mom and I would spend a lot of time making fudge. I could show you guys how, if you'd like." The boys perked up quickly at the mention of sweets. Ana laughed. "I thought so."

The three made their way to the kitchen, and Ana found herself enjoying the process of teaching the recipe to the youngsters. She remembered her own mother, guiding her paws as she first learned how to make fudge. Careful, now, her mom's voice rang in her ears. Not too hot, or it'll burn. As Ana showed the boys how to stir it, she saw her mother's paws where hers should be.

After pouring the liquid in a pan to set, Ana looked over her handiwork with pride. I haven't done this since mother's been gone, she realized. Ana smiled to herself. Maybe this job wasn't so odd. Perhaps sharing these sweets was what she wanted to do after all.

Weary from her hard work, Ana sighed and leaned against the cool, stone counter of the newly swept building. Smiling at her handiwork, she tucked the broom behind the counter and finally let down her tied-up ears. She was ready. The display case built into the counter was full of fudge, truffles, and all manner of sweets, all made by Anabelle. Glancing out the window, where rain pattered against the concrete, she smiled to herself. Reflected in a quickly pooling puddle of water, the neon sign she'd installed on the outside of the shop reflected back at her: Anabelle's Confections.

Tomorrow, it will all be worth it, Ana thought to herself. After babysitting the kits, she'd finally felt some semblance of direction in her life. Anabelle quickly became their go-to sitter as she started saving up her money. It took quite a bit of work, but two years later, she found herself with enough money to comfortably start up the new business. Now, on the eve of the shop's grand opening, Anabelle finally felt proud of herself. Ana smiled.

Mom would be proud, too.

ivory was never planning to be a babysitter, considering not being the most found of kids and having little to no patience. However after getting out of high school, and needing money for college, she decided to start babysitting. At first it was a bit scary and new to iv,; then that was when she got to babysit her first kid. He was shy, and rather not talk to anyone. Ivory realized this pretty quickly, and decided to try to make some fun. After some stubborn no's from the kit after offered a bubble bathe, building blocks, and dress up, ivory decided to do the one thing she loved to do when she was a kid. she loved to play with stuffed animals. you could create your own world, and characters just from a little plushed animal. so with a last idea, she went over to the kit again, approaching the idea she had differently this time. she just started playing, making the stuffed animals talk and move in front of the kit. finally, she saw the spark in the kit's eye of curiosity and happiness. she knew she had done it then. they then proceeded to laugh and play this for the rest of the time., and that's when she thought, maybe i can make babysitting more than a one time thing.

prompt: Aster really enjoys kits, and after ultimately snagging herself a job to babysit some, it was a full journey to find the perfect kit who shared what she loved most - peaches. there were many kits she met who preferred other sweets like apples or oranges, but finally she found the perfect kit, and from then they were the only kit she wanted to babysit. Anytime it's her day to babysit, she happily skips her way over with a basket of fresh-picked peaches tied around her waist to share with her fated little kalon friend. She's even been given the special little nickname 'Peaches' by the little kit's parents, and she adores it. If she sadly doesn't have peaches though, they're replaced with other berries like raspberries or blueberries, which are the kit's second favorite little snacks.
