You are sitting in a field
The wind carries the scent of spring on her breath
Full of damp earth and new life
Nature is waking from her winter slumber
She watches you from under the cherry tree
Eyes soft like the loam under your feet
Blossoms in her fur
With a slow blink that says "take your time here"
So you close your eyes and go to sleep.

You are sitting in a field
Summer swelter baking the plants and dirt
The wind baked up by the sun's unrelenting pressure
A tinderpile waiting for the slightest spark to set it off
She's laying under the tree
Soaking in the shade provided by pink petals
Unyielding in the heat
Eyes closed to the world, inviting you to join her in her slumber
So you close your eyes and go to sleep.

You are sitting in a field
Tinted red and gold by light through dying leaves
Anticipation of frost riding on a wind that turns your nose cherry red
The bounty of the earth is finally reaped by nature's children
She takes no part in the harvest
Her tree's blossoms still blush-pink
Life when its kin are wilting
Eyes half-lidded with exhaustion
So you close your own eyes and go to sleep

You are sitting in a field
The ground pillowed by brilliant snow
Copses of trees nothing more that gaunt figures clawing for the sky
An ambivalent sun provided no relief to this world in stasis
She does not notice this frost
Her tree lively as ever
The grass in its wake as green as after a fresh rain
Tempting you to join in her oasis
But you close your eyes and go to sleep

You are sitting in a field
Season after season, year after year
The field has changed beyond recognition
Trees felled and grass uprooted by the slow scythe of time
But her tree is still there, petals still pink
And honey-brown eyes still watching you
You remember how to stand, muscles thin with age and disuse
And join her in her shade
The sky is tinted pink as you sit with your back against the trunk
Air as warm as spring
So you close your eyes and go to sleep

pink petals upon your back, unfurl,
through sweet spring breeze, they swirl.
like a gentle tornado, or a summer storm,
though the breeze isn't cold, but warm.

you head to the stream, so cold and clear,
the place you visit every year.
the petals, like ducks, float down the creek,
you take in the moment, they'll be gone next week.

though the trees of earth don't last,
after spring's song is sung they pass.
yours never leave your back, you know,
unlike earth's that come and go.

you don't have many feelings for them,
other than the frustration of a spikey stem,
all they're worth is decoration,
and sometimes a fleeting conversation.

given the chance, would you say goodbye?
after all, you wouldn't cry.
you made yourself that one promise,
prayed upon your personal goddess.

but no, you'll give them another chance,
try to learn your own romance.
maybe the appreciation will come,
when all is said and done.

it's why my souls sings.
at home or in the fields, there's no restriction,
it's even better than watching science-fiction!

I run and run, simply enjoying the fun,
as the time goes by almost unnoticed,
if my best friend just continues to throw this.
It makes me happy with every single fall,
I just love it! it's my ball!

you can probably tell that I've never written a poem before, but it was actually more fun than I though haha
