Finnley stared at the crystalline surface.
What others said blackened the silvery glass.
She seemed faded as she stared at her face.
It stayed the same at every pass.

"Sticky fingers",
"Dirty thief",
Disdain lingers,
"Good grief"!

All she saw was darkness.
Her dreams shattered.
Nothing said was harmless.
Her efforts never mattered.

This was not the life she chose.
She had only wanted to live.
Along the path she made many foes.
It seemed even she could not forgive.

Lies were told.
Everything was altered.
She didn't fit the mold.
Her self image faltered.
