favorite drink: Champurrado. It's a chocolate-based atole, a warm and thick Mexican beverage, prepared with either masa de maíz, masa harina, or corn flour; piloncillo; water or milk; and occasionally containing cinnamon, anise seed, or vanilla. A super yummy drink!!

a drink on a cold november, in the chill of celebration for the dead, nothing beats the warmth
of atole - a corn-based drink, used for dipping in pan de muertos, made of masa harina flour.
non-alcoholic, and technically a porridge, this beverage is flavored with cinnamon, brown suga
r and occasionally chocolate (although this makes it champurrado), and has roots dating back t
o the Aztecs.
araceli remembers those celebrations. bright and cheerful, lighting up the dark nights as they
pressed offerings against the ofrendas, bright pops of yellow marigolds and bitter cold breezes
that had no marring on their spirit those nights. after dinner, they would toast their glasses to
the deceased, to cheerful existence and passage to the next world. the incense would carry s
cents through the air, but the cinnamon of the warm drink would reign superior, warm in their
hands, warm in their bodies and only echoing the warmth of their hearts those three nights.
i loved your story and felt super connected to it, please take good care of araceli and you will be added shortly!!
everyone else i loved your stories! i felt so relaxed and warm/fuzzy reading them!
