What did they do?:
"Finally! It's about time someone turned up" The Hydra grumbled accompanied by multiple hisses from his many snake tails. Evelyn merely huffed quietly but waited to hear more all the same. "I can't fight anyone while chained up like this! It's not even my fault, it was their fault for messing too much with my snakes! Of course, they got bitten, any idiot that tried to take one would have been bitten" he rambled angrily, ignoring her attempts to say something.
"Would you just, be quiet for a second?" Evelyn demanded, she'd been struggling to get a word in edgeways for several minutes while the hydra chattered away. "I missed most of what you said, start again" she snapped. Lips pulled back exposing oddly sharp teeth in a silent snarl at a snake tail that dared test Evelyn's patience, it recoiled sharply choosing to cower against the body of the hydra. He chose not to respond, merely settling those intense yellow eyes on the grey female. It was sometime before he spoke again, seemingly much calmer than he had been before.
"As a child, I was never interested in fighting, that was something for the idiots to do because they lacked anything that made them interesting. Sadly as a teenager I grew hot-blooded and found the thrill in fighting, that was also when my original snake tail perished for the first time, imagine my surprise when she returned alongside a brand new one. I was mystified by this and threw myself into researching the situation when I wasn't fighting, I assumed myself safe in my hidey-hole. Able to sink my nose into books and fight to my heart's content whenever I felt like it, sadly it was not to last. Word got out about my miraculous re-growing snakes and as is common in all the stories and such, the wrong sort found out about it. I was lured away from my home with promises of gold and glory, it rang true for all of a single day, then came crashing down around me.
They locked me away, only letting me out for the dullest kind of testing and fighting, naturally, they told my opponents that if they cleanly managed to take down a snake they'd be handsomely rewarded or some rubbish like that." Asp paused for a moment assessing Evelyn with those brilliant yellow orbs before continuing with his tale. "Neither my jailors nor I realized that I and my snakes were venomous, not fatal to anything bigger than your average woodland rabbit. Merely enough to take out an opponent with a single bite and leave them out for the count fr a week at least. Not until someone decided that trying to goad me into a fight so another could steal a snake while my chains were on was a good idea, my snakes strike faster than I can. We'd never bitten anyone before that, it was quite a surprise when the Lambicorn went down harder than a sack of potatoes.
So you see, I was chained because of my own stupidity and then because my snakes and I bite, using our venom efficiently to replace guards that would try harm us" Asp's tone was even throughout his story. Something that surprised Evelyn, he'd been rather hot-headed and inelegant when he first spoke, yet his story had been told in a much smoother manner.
"You spin an interesting story that much is clear" she began. "I usually would assume that only some violent mindless brute had been chained but you appear to be only dangerous to those who intend on doing you or those delightful snakes of yours harm" Evelyn continued. "Perhaps I may just consider freeing you from these chains" she hummed lightly.
