Dust rises, a swirling crest of bronze and gold wisps, chasing the soft breeze. And it dwindles, fading to reveal an old barn, still decked with the silver filaments of a spider’s web and the teasing lilt of a distant wind chime.

A light whistle echoes from inside the barn, joined with the warm, cadence of laughter as a head of lilac curls ducks through the rugged doors. Silver dust kisses the tips of his nose, traces of spiderwebs catching in curls forever astray and a crooked bandanna rests brandished across his chest.

“Well, hello there!” Mauve eyes twinkle, tossing a quick wink. “The name’s Birchmist! I see you’ve stumbled upon━ oh!”

His bandanna comes undone, stolen by a bright-eyed thief with paws still too small and a grin too wide. The apprentice waves the red silk like a flag, giggling as she disappears into the barn.

“Cheeky, isn’t she?” With a tiny shake of his head, Birchmist chuckles, a playful smile tugging. “And there’s more where that comes from! See, this barn… it’s a temporary hub for those looking for a home to call their own." His smile softens. "They come from all walks of life. Some are lost, while others are just looking for a fresh start at life. A life… with someone they can trust.”

His head perks. “Say… would you like to take a peek inside?”

Elkheart's spirit animal is the Elk! Elk are the largest species in the deer family, and that bit represents Elkheart's large heart. She is a very kind cat, and tries her best to be empathetic. She is social, just like the elk. She thrives in large groups, knowing that she has a place with the cats she loves.
Elk were given the name wapiti by the Native Americans meaning "light-colored deer" hence her light coat, and elk are also called "red deer" which attributes to the darkening on her nose.
