Augustus, or “Oggie” as others fondly refer to him as, stood stock-still, tail straight up and quivering. His wet nose was pressed forcefully against a small rose growing in the garden bed beside his owner’s front porch. The other dog of the household, Rue, was rather young and curious and often spent her days away from the house exploring the yard. Whenever she was gone, he would get to his old paws and wander outside. Every time he made it down the cavernous front stairs and across the mile-long pathway (it was only a few steps really, but no one corrects old Oggie) he would pause to sniff the air, and his nose would lead him to the small rose bushes along the side of the pathway. In his old mind it was always the first time he had smelt them, and he would press his nose to them and stand there for who knew how long.
“Oggie?” A voice interrupted his mindless sniffing and he turned away from the bush.
The small blue and white collie that had spoke stood a few pawsteps away, a knowing smile on her face.
“Come on Oggie, lets go inside.”
“But look at this,” He replied gruffly, turning back to the flowers.
“I know Oggie, you showed me them yesterday.” And the day before that… and the day before that…, she thought.
“No no, these are new. I’m sure of it.” Oggie huffed, confused.

A very bad habit her owner is fed up of is, when her humans put her bowl so she can eat twice a day, she always barks three times and start to hit the bowl with her paw a few times until she is satisfied, moving it with no apparent reason.
It was something she learnt long time ago that helped her when she suddenly found herself a couple years ago living with more dogs. Hitting the bowl would confuse other dogs, and also move closer the bowl to her, while if she pawed the food, she would be taking more pieces on her side. Sometimes, she simply does it and doesn’t it anything, which will soft the heart of their owner and let her eat something unusual, like a sausage or other human food.
Another bad habit she has recently learnt is that, if instead of jumping on her couch, she would whimper and look with puppy eyes to the nearest human, they will feel bad for her and help her to get on the sofa with no real effort. And if she did it in winter, she would also get a soft and warm blanket. She would take advantage of her age this way, after all, one gets older but also wiser. She has discovered the way to get up on the couch or other fluffy things with no effort.

Prompt: Oddly enough, Kreia's odd habit is suckling on her blankets! When she lays in her dog bed, or her human's bed, she'll fluff up the blanket and plop down onto it. After she's fluffed it, she'll use her paws to pull the blanket towards her mouth and she'll start to suckle on it! Kreia feels like she's a puppy again, nursing alongside her littermates in the warmth of her mother's belly! If she can't find any blanket to suckle on, she'll sit and stare right at her owner's and whine ever so quietly. However, it's the pitch of her whine that really tugs her owner's heartstrings, so they hurry to get her a blanket so she can happily suckle on her blanket. Normally her owners wouldn't let their collies suckle on blankets, due to how some of the pups have chewed holes into them, so they really tried their best to stop her odd habit. Alas, they realized that they couldn't teach their old dog new tricks.

With this newfound habit, Kreia has also become protective over her little dog bed and any/all blankets. She doesn't want any other collie to chew on them and ruin them! In the end, Kreia continues to suckle on blankets, and she'll even suckle when she's dreaming in her sleep!
