They spend the holiday with their family. First they wake up and they and their siblings help make breakfast for everyone. Usually French toast with eggs and toast. They don't eat again until the Christmas feast, so that they can eat as much as they want. After breakfast they go onto stocking presents. They sit by the table and take turns opening presents in the stocking until all the presents are open. After the stockings, they go into the presents under the tree. One person is the elf and gets a present for each person, then they take turns opening the presents, usually going from youngest to oldest. They take turns being elfs too. They continuing opening presents until they are all open. The presents are open by ones gotten for each other first, then they move on to santa gifts, lastly, big gifts. After all the presents are open, the children play with their gifts while the adults and older children help make the Christmas feast. They feast usually gets done around dinnertime and includes pies, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, and tofu turkey. After the feast, they watch movies until midnight. Then they go to bed.

Prompt: Nona's holiday celebration may be a touch unusual to most, but she really enjoys it! Instead of celebrating at home, Nona heads out to the streets on Christmas day, carrying a torch and lighting the way of her path-- sometimes people parade behind her and sometimes she's out walking alone, singing her solitary Christmas carols-- as she walks she observers the festivity, the lights, the trees, the happy families-- doing this makes her feel like there really is something good in the world, because even on the harshest, most unforgiving years, the town still lights up around the holidays and everyone is glowing with holiday cheer. Nona has never had a family to celebrate with at home, but her friends do go parading with her on the streets when they can! As a group they have a blast singing and dancing as the snow falls! Sometimes Nona's friends bake goodies and they hand those out to whoever else they may meet. Overall, Nona's tradition is one of lighting the way for others, and of taking in the festive cheer and helping others do the same. It helps her and her company to head into the new year with high spirits and hopes for the future!
