Your day in Castellina has found you at the nursery for a bit. It's a busy time over there with the blooming of spring and founding of the city! The demielder Ave is telling the tiny lambabies all kinds of stories—they're very attentive little things after all. Of course, it's just your usual fairytales... true love this-or-that, magic-something-other until something very peculiar catches your attention.

Ave gasps softly, her eyes sparkling as she leans closer to the lambabies as if to share a secret, "Oh my, you haven't heard the tale of the Hornless Child?" The hornless! Wha—h-hornless?! There's no way a lambicorn could possibly be hornless. You can't help but listen to her story now. Ave chuckles at the wide eyes of the children, "Ahh, a very special tale, how can a hornless lambicorn exist, after all? Oh, now, don't fret my dears—I think you'll find this story has a happy ending after all. Listen closely..."

---Our first nursery milestone is finally here! Thank you all for the patience, it's been a busy last few months! ^^


First things first, this lambaby is a perma-baby!
(meaning it CANNOT dreamfuse or grow ever! Please understand that when entering. They will be cute and little, forever. <3)


Step 1 of this comp is you will tell the Tale of The Hornless Child to the lambaby audience! You may either tell it as a general narrator or as Ave. If you choose to be Ave, just keep in mind her character is a very motherly/kindergarten teacher type when talking to the kids!

Your story will need to include the lambaby child pictured here and tell the tale of what happened to their horn (or if they were just born without it), and how they got it back! This can be as mystical or fantastic a tale as you'd like, just please don't make it dark (this is for the kids, after all!). It will need to have a "happy ending" as Ave promised where they get their horn at last.


Step 2 of this comp is to design the horn (does not have to be on the actual image unless wanted!) If you win, your horn design will be added to this little one as faithfully as I can recreate it! (after all, the 'hornless lambie' is just a story... right?!)

You'll also need to choose the "jewel" colors (forehead and beside the eyes) and eye color(s). This can be a palette or hex codes! You may leave the color choices blank until the comp is closed if you prefer, but the horn design IS required! You may retain the horn's design rights if you don't win of course!


There will be 2 permababy runner-ups on the regular nursery lines, also! Your horn design will be used if you win an RU and I'll design them using your horn as inspiration. ^v^ I may also toss a few extra bonuses out to entries!


Have fun!! Your story should be no less than 200 words, and you may pretty up your form as long as you credit outside images etc! I will be mainly looking for the story criteria and a good happy ending for this cutie. :>

Tell the Tale: a tale lost to almost all, but lucky you I still know it. The tail of a hornless lambicorn, ain’t that odd. Well I’ll tell you the story now just listen. A bright flash, so bright and sudden that all who saw it where almost blinded. But that light was a star falling to the ground and within was a lambicorn without a horn. Her eyes glowed with excitement as she looked around. But as she walked around she got everyone looking at her, specially her head. The small lambicorn knew she was a permababy but why was she getting stared at. Approaching the first lambicorn that wasn’t staring she asked “hi, is something wrong with me” after being told her horn was missing and she shouldn’t exist the colorful tiny lamb started to cry. “I don’t want to be different” she said. “You don’t” a voice whispered in her ear “just listen” they said “something of mine has been stolen and if you get it for me I’ll get you a horn, what’s your name little one” the hornless lambie nodded her head “I’m spirit” she said. A hour later her quest was explained, she was to do something so incredibly dangerous Spirit decided she would not. Friends that’s what she needed, and that’s what she got. “Friends, real friends” she said “you, whoever you are are probably using me” and just like that a glowing line appeared leading her to a small group of lambabys. The group of three lambabys quickly wanted to friend her. “Your horn it’s gone” one of them said. “We’re not that powerful but we might be able to help wait here” and they ran off. “Come back” spirit yelled “where’d you go” and at that moment she saw her three friends come back. “What happened” Spirit asked “your horn” one of the three said. Spirit touched her head “my horn” she whispered. And on her head sat a translucent rainbow horn

Tell the Tale:

One of the sea-faring Lambies gave a broad grin, as with a wave of his paw he gathered the young ones closer to him. His ears flopped over as he regarded the lot, and one could tell he had seen a few adventures from the leg he was missing. He smiled widely, before clearing his throat. "So little lambies, I'm told you want stories! So I figured a tale about a young 'in would be good for ya! Gather 'round, its a good one! Its called 'The Tale of the Hornless Child!'" He waited a moment, noting the many shocked gasps or horrified looks before chuckling warmly.

"Ain't ye kiddos worry none, this tale has a happy endin' I swear! Your caretaker would kick my tail otherwise!' He laughs, before inhaling deeply. "Now then, long time ago, there was a small problem with a batch of stones. Every single lambie that came from them had smaller than usual horns. It was strange, but they were alright. Mind, their magic was weak, and many of them were dull or plain in color. But they were a close band, united in their shared malady... although there was one single exception. A brilliant, rather large lambie by the name of Serenade had a horn easily three time the size of any of ours!"

"Were her kin jealous? Absolutely. She could perform amazing feats of magic with but a wave of a paw or a nod of a fin. But truth be told... she didn't want any of that. To see her siblings struggle so broke her wee heart. But she had a PLAN. Each of her kin she visited, one by one. She wanted to ensure that nobody figured out her plan. To each she granted a piece of her magic, a charm created by her own magic, will, and horn. Nobody is really sure how she broke her own horn to create the charms, all they know is that it worked!"

"You see, each of her kin took in the magic of those charms, magic strong as anyone's and colors bright as the sunset! A miracle they all said, they all rejoiced in as they danced together in the nursery. They all gathered as one, shouting praises and admiring each other. But slowly, they realized one of theirs was missing. They knew they had to find her, realizing what she had done! And they did, with all of them working together, finding a lambaby pale as the sands of the sea at moontide. Poor gal was drained, her horn entirely gone. She had given up everything to see them happy. If she could perform so many miracles.. couldn't a whole group of them make an even bigger miracle though?"

"So together they weaved a spell, lending their hearts into it. And wouldn't ya know it? It worked! A new horn born of their love and gratitude grew, even shinier and better than the original! Who'd have thought it eh? See, happy ending and my tail's intact! Now, next time I'll tell ya the tale of 'The Lambie with no Shadow...'"
