Cato was an orphan taken in by a wizard who wanted him because he saw his wings as special.
The wizard became his mentor and used Cato's talent to help him in making charms.
But Cato could never do anything to please his mentor even though he was a brilliant charmer and always felt like he wasn't good enough.
He dreams of a different life one where he can do what he wants but his mentor keeps a close eye on him and doesn't allow him to leave without permission.

"I'm looking for a way out"

After years of begging he got permission to go to the market by himself, with the promise to come right back.

Things didn't go as planned. After returning Cato tried to reason with his mentor to let him see more of the world, but his mentor didn't want his prized pupil to leave and locked him up in his room, telling him he could come down when he was through with these delusions.

Cato realized his mentor never cared for him and just used him for his abilities or to make himself look better. It was time to do things on his own.

In his mentor's haste to punish him he had forgotten to lock the windows in Cato's room and overlooked one small detail. Cato had wings.
Being locked in his room high in a tower didn't phase Cato as he flung the window open and squeezed out the small opening.
Taking his first flight towards freedom.

"Run wild, run free
The sky's beneath our feet"

He knew that someone might come after him but it didn't matter, he finally had the freedom to do what he wanted.

Cato was on his way to a better life.
