Route Two of the Hawthorn Hooves Stable Event
You were up before the dawn, but you weren’t the only one, and, as the sun rose its sleepy head into the sky, the Search and Rescue group were ready to head out again. The group stumbled across - or, more accurately, into - a small creek, and, even more exciting, the tell-tale hoofprints in the thick mud.

Following the creek led you all to a small oasis, and, relaxing in the cool midday sun, some dozing, some sipping from the water, others just sitting, the second group of horses.

This is a Route Two horse! Remember you must first enter in the Route Two prompt before you enter for any horses listed as route one. You may only win two horses per route, excluding the horses listed as "Special," of which you may only win one total.

Why did this horse run when the trailer crashed? Minimum of 150 words :)

When the trailer crashed, Patrick remained calm.

He rose from where he laid, to see most of the other horses run. He wanted to keep the situation calm, but too many horses were running away. In an attempt to keep the calm, he ran after a few horses, desperate to catch up with them. He knew well of the dangers of the forest, and wanted to keep everyone safe.

He ran, trying his best to keep up with the others. He had already been running for years, but his age was starting to set in. After feeling a few bones crackle as he ran, he stopped and sighed. If only he was as young as he'd used to be. He couldn't help but worry for the other horses, some of them were fairly young.

He whinnied out to try and call for help. He looked around, not even knowing where he had come from. He sighed and thought, "I'm getting too old for this."

Barn Name: Goober
Gender: Stallion
Age: 5 years old
Height: 15.1hh
Halter: surprise me please!<3
Discipline: Cutting
Competition: What made this horse run when the trailer crashed?
Goober was generally a lazy, laid back dude, and really didn't understand what all this fuss was about as he watched his buddies go taking off from the trailer once the doors flung open. The stallion shrugged, swishing his tail, gingerly stepping out of the trailer as the area cleared. He stood, observing his surroundings, taking in the sights and smells. At this time of year, there wasn't much green vegetation to munch on, but Goober attempted to gather up a snack for himself regardless.

After awhile of munching away, a blur of motion rushed through the woods, catching Goober's attention. It was a herd of deer.... and Goober's training as a cutting horse immediately kicked in. The normally lazy horse, when working, was more determined and hard working than any other horse around, and there was no stopping him when there was a job to do. Although he hadn't run off into the wilderness with his own herd, the stallion ran off from the trailer after this deer herd instead. Within a brief flash of time, Goober had already caught up to the herd of deer, and had already separated one doe from the rest of the herd. He kept up with them for such a long time, making sure that one doe was not able to rejoin her friends.

Before he knew it, the sun was beginning to set. Now sufficiently tired from all his hard work, Goober finally let the doe back with her family, and the poor frightened animals kept running, never looking back. Poor Goober began to feel nervous, as darkness was setting in and he was all alone, lost in the woods. He was so absorbed in his cutting work with the deer that he had no idea which direction the trailer was. Eventually, he found a creek, and noticed some hoof prints imprinted into the mud. Goober stood to ponder, should he follow the tracks and hopefully find his herd, or should he use them to backtrack towards the trailer, where he can take shelter for the night? It was a tough decision, but he was nervous he would lose the tracks and just get lost further in the woods overnight, which was not a chance he wanted to take. Exhausted from all his running, he trudged through the mud, hopefully back to the trailer where he could have a nice, long, rest.

Show Name: RG Just Before It's Done
Barn Name: Beizel
Gender: Stallion
Age: 8 years
Height:15.3hh
Halter: artist's choice! (or eye color)
Discipline: Western Trail
Competition: (What made this horse run when the trailer crashed?)

While the other horses dashed out of the trailer in blatant confusion, Beizel marched out in the most dignified manner as if the accident was all part of a large show. He circled around the herd, walked up to the front, then proceeded to turn back, proving that his previous actions had been completely pointless, to see what all the other equines were chattering about.

"What happened?" asked a horse.

"I'm not sure," responded another. "Perhaps we should stand around and wait."

Beizel chose that time to join the conversation. "Nonsense!" he neighed, shaking his mane out in superiority when multiple heads turned in his direction. "Obviously, this is a test," the stallion declared. "See that road? It's heading straight. Think of it as a race track. Our riders want to test us, so they left us on a track to see how far we could run on our own!"

Horses murmured in agreement. Yes, that made sense. He said it with so much confidence; he must be correct.

"But I'm not a race horse," a mare dared to speak up. "I'm a dressage novice, you see."

"Then you simply trot along the road looking all dainty as you are," Beizel explained with a nod to the mare.

She smiled. "I suppose I could," she relented, gladdened to hear the hidden compliment.

A different, older stallion shook out his mane, wanting to be involved in all the excitement. "Everyone in? We're gonna all run along the road, following the lead of this smart horse, here," he directed, signaling towards Beizel. "I hope you can run as well as you think, colt."

Beizel responded as if insulted, "I ain't no colt. I'm a trail horse. You'd be surprised. Bet I can run better than you."

"A trail horse riding better than a race horse? Oh, really?"

"Come, I'll prove it to you." Raising his voice, Beizel commanded, "Alrighty mares 'n stallions! Let's get a move on, now!"

And so, Beizel broke into a run along the road, the other stallion bolting to keep up with him while a variety of horses followed, whether it be at a trot or a gallop, trailing in anticipation after the others.
