prompt:Coro and Juniper were just outside Symphonic Cave on the beach. They were having a practice fight. Juniper used Double Team, and then prepared to use Swift. Coro analyzed the situation and used Dig. He emerged from the sand in a semicircle, wiping away all the false Junipers.
Just then, a voice came from the general direction of the cave.
"Smart move. It's a shame Dig takes two turns. The Cyndaquil could have used Double Team again and created even more copies, essentially nullifying what your Dig was trying to achieve."
They both looked at the cave. Nobody was there.
"Up here."
A Larvitar with bandages on his snout and one of his horns stood on the ledge above the cave. He wore a purple and orange striped scarf with a skull-shaped pin, which reminded Coro of the Poison Darts.
"By the way, have you seen a Chespin around here? I'm on a mission to find her."
Coro looked at Juniper, who shook his head. "We haven't, sorry."
The Larvitar nodded. "Okay then. I guess I should go keep looking." He turned to leave.
"Wait!" Coro shouted. "Can we c..come along a..and help you?"
He turned around and shrugged. "I guess if you really want to."
Coro and Juniper walked up the stairs to where the Larvitar was standing.
"I'm Warren, by the way."
Juniper smiled. "I'm Juniper, and that is Coro."
The three walked along for a while in relative silence. Juniper would soon break it.
"Excuse me if I seem rude, but, may I ask why you have those bandages?"
Warren answered without much thought. "They keep my psychic powers from coming out of the scars on my nose."
"Really?"
"No. Well, partially. My Hidden Power is actually Psychic type."
"Okay, then what's the real reason? In fact, how did you get those scars in the first place?"
Warren smiled and stretched his arms. "I thought you'd never ask."
"Way back when I was younger, I was playing with some of my friends. I mentioned something along the lines of how I once scared an Onix."
Coro looked at him. "Did you a..actually do that?"
"Yep. Snuck up behind him and shouted. Surprisingly easy. Anyway, my friends didn't believe I was brave enough to do something like that. So they proposed a test, and I accepted. You see, I grew up in the mountains on the other side of Melas. A lot of bird Pokemon nest up there. So, my friends dared me to steal a feather from a Braviary. You see where this is going. I went up there and got scratched up pretty badly. I actually ended up getting the feather, though. So that's pretty neat."
"Warren, that's really cool!" Juniper exclaimed.
"Yeah, I..." Warren suddenly stopped in his tracks. He took a moment before pointing into the forest. "She's that way."
Coro and Juniper looked at where he was pointing. It was a small slice of forest. Nothing out of the ordinary was there. There wasn't even any Pokemon. But before anyone could speak up, Warren was already heading in that direction. The two had no choice but to follow.
A few minutes of walking later, the three heard Chespin's cries for help. After running to her, they saw her being cornered by a Scyther.
Against his better judgement, Juniper immediately used Flame Charge, running directly into the Scyther. This was, obviously, enough to get the three noticed. The Scyther reared up in anger and began to slash. Juniper dodged and used Double Team. In retaliation, the Scyther used Double Team as well. Coro jumped in and used Dig. The Scyther used Double Team again, doubling the Scythers on the field. This bought Warren enough time to leap high into the air and prepare a Rock Slide directly above one of the Scythers. When Coro emerged, he swung in a full circle instead of the half circle he used against Juniper earlier. This erased all the Scythers except for the real one, who was directly below Warren's falling rocks. When the Scyther got free, it immediately took flight and went away.
The Chespin talked with Warren for a while before heading off.
"Well, it's been nice hanging out with you two." Warren said.
Juniper looked at him.
"Wait. About earlier, how did you know the direction she was in?"
"Well, let's just say it was my Hidden Power. I used it to know which Scyther to use Rock Slide on, too."
"Wait, what do you mean by "let's just say"?" Juniper paused. "Have you been lying to us?"
"Most of what I told you is true. Including the Hidden Power thing. You have no reason not to trust me."
Juniper waited a moment before responding. "What about the Braviary? Did that really happen?"
Warren hesitated. "No. To be honest, that's pretty much the only thing I lied about. The truth is... much less epic." He lowered his head. "It's just... my dad wasn't the nicest. And one day he just snapped."
"I'm s..sorry to hear that, W..Warren." Coro coiled himself up.
Warren lifted his head back up. "So, I made it a game for myself to tell a different story to everyone who asked. I think that was story number..... thirty something. You're the first Pokemon to catch on." He paused. "Don't worry. I scared that Onix, though. That really happened."
Both Coro and Juniper smiled. "Well, I guess we better get going." Juniper said.
"Alright. It was nice meeting you."
Both Warren and Juniper turned around to leave, but Coro wasn't done.
"I know we..we're just about to..to leave, but before we do, I'd li..like to ask one more ques..question."
"Sure. Fire away."
"I noticed all th..those skulls and things on you. Do you ha..happen to know about a gui..guild named the Poison Darts?"
"Indeed I do. Used to be a big fan. Now I just wear this around because I like it a lot. Fits my style." He paused. "I noticed your bandana. Are you a member?"
"I used t..to be. I left after a s..series of e..escalating events involving the Guildmaster."
"Huh. Y'know, I tried to join once. They didn't accept me. Something about not being a Poison type. I really don't care, though. I think I'm happier being free like this."
Coro and Juniper looked at each other. "Free, you say? Why don't you come with us? I'm sure our guildmasters would like to have a word with you."
