Legend Title: The Ghost of Eve
Prompt:
Beware, Beware, The ghost of eve,
Who's restless spirit will never leave,
For she stalks and haunts,
For what she wants,
Revenge upon her crew.

Some say it was what was right,
When upon that stormy night,
They tied her up,
And cast her down,
Into the raging blue.

They say she was a scoundral,
They say she was a stooge,
They say she had no mercy,
They say she had no mind.

Upon that day,
That stormy day,
She sunk beneath the sea.
The start of something new, they say
The start of something grand.

The start of her haunt,
On the very eve,
The ghost of her will never lay.

Lambicorn name:
Quick-Fin Kelby

Gender:
Female

Legend Title:
The Turn-Coat Siren

Prompt:

Down in the depths of the Viridian Sea dwelled a siren like no other, with voice was like starlight and fangs that'll make a devil shudder. She lived alone, as sirens do, luring sailors to them doom... except for Captain Sue!

Oh, Kelby was renowned for her voice of angel's light, and more-so for her cruel tricks. She lured the surliest of sailors and the most cunning of captains astray with her voice, molding melodies of paradise to guide them into danger. But as she sang of such riches, such splendor and delight, Kelby found her own life - full of murky depths and heartbreak - lacking. Her song became not one of cruel trickery, but 'vengeance' upon those who were able to live life more freely than she. Kelby became bitter vicious, and soon was known for her cruelty instead of her voice alone.

When Captain Sue was unfortunate enough to sail into the waters of Kelby's domain, the siren was surprised to find that no song of gold nor jewels could lure the captain or her crew from their path. Infuriated but curious, Kelby resplved to follow Captain Sue's ship, determined to bring the entire crew to the sea. As she studied them, she found them to be,,, different than the other pirates. There was rarely bickering between them, and Captain Sue and her crew seemed as carefree and wild as the sea. Kelby gave up her quest without realizing it, instead pursuing the pirates to simply... watch, enraptured with the freedom in their way of life.

One night, Kelby caught Captain Sue alone. Or rather, Captain Sue caught Kelby alone, as the pink lambicorn called out to her before the siren knew the captain was there. Sue had seen Kelby trailing them or all these weeks without trying to tempt them, and was curious about her motives. Kelby, of course, revealed little, though perhaps Captain Sue saw through her scathing words, for she offered the siren a place on her ship still.

Kelby has lived happily since then, free as a bird as she finally lives the life she sang about for so long.

      Prompt:

xxxxxxthe night is dark, heavy clouds cast over the sky, hiding the moon and the stars. the forest looms around the small encampment, the wind seeming to whisper as it blows. eyes blink from within the tall grass and an owl hoots far off. there's a crackling of a fire and the hushed sound of voices. a strangers shadow is cast over the fire and the voices go quiet. gather 'round the campfire young lambies and let me tell you a story. a story about the dread pirate who sailed the seas several hundreds years ago. a lambircorn says with a wicked grin, her gaze raking across the young lambicorns before her, the ever changing fire casting her face in evil looking shadows. speaking in a low, steely voice, she began her tale. don't be afraid and listen close, as there's a moral to be learned here. dare i say her name for i may be cursed just uttering it. she was a young and proud lambicorn who would guide her mighty war vessel through the night, pillaging all that she came across in search of gold, jewels, and other shining riches. in her wake she left burning homes and slain innocents with a bloodcurdling smile on her face. money, power, and fame is what she sought after, and none were at her mercy. not even you conniving little fiends her could avoid her fiery wrath. the lambicorn cast her paw around the fire, pointing at all of the young lambies listening to her tale. on one particular night as this pirate and her crew searched for new land, it is said that she met her fate as all evil should. in her search for gold a beautiful cacophony of voices filled her ears, singing of an endless bounty of all that she sought. gripping her wheel she turned her boat toward a shimmering mirage in the distance. greed shone in her eyes as she guided her boat toward the mound of gold and jewels, casting a beacon into the night sky. crew members jumped ship to their doom, swimming toward what they themselves were promised. the ship was battered against by the rough seas, the water dark and oily. sharp rocks tore at the hulls, ripping off chunks of wood and cannons, filling the mighty ship with water. those with their wits still about them abandoned their crazed leader. as the ship drew nearer the symphony of angelic voices grew louder, promising for all of her gold filled dreams to come true. it was all for nought, for after forcing her ship through the craggy rocks, half sunk and without a crew, the voices ceased. the visage of gold shimmered away and the night was dark once more. as the ship sunk with her aboard, she screamed in outrage. where was her promised riches? where was her fame? as she tried to keep her head above the crashing waves the sea overtook her. in the deep, dark gloom of the ocean shining rows of serrated teeth smiled, a thousand glowing eyes flickering open all at once. in an instant the water was painted red. now, on dark nights such as this, when the moon doesn't shine and the stars are gone, they say a warship can sometimes be seen floating in the far horizon of the sea because she is still in search of bountiful wealth, singing a song of despair that can lure in any lambicorn with the same promise of riches and fame she was offer. however, when a lambicorn gets close, they shall meet the same fate she did. the lambicorn ducks away from the campfire and the young lambicorns who were enraptured by the tale look around, the stranger having disappeared without a trace. a cold wind blows, the last fiery embers dying out with it, and all goes dark.

Legend Title: Hurricane
Prompt:

The sky was black, streaked with the occasional blast of lightning.
It was quiet, aside from the roaring downpour and the thunder.

Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip. Droplets of water dripped and trickled from the ceiling, onto the Lambi's nose. The little lambi looked up from her seaweed-and-seagull-feather bed, towards the mouth of the cave. She turned on the sea lantern beside her.

"What the Hades is happening now?" She muttered, "Surely last week's hurricane was enough." She hated not being able to sleep during such weather... but it was better than waking up in a pond. She shivered. Shaking her head again, she grabbed her dagger and strapped it to her belt. Then she picked up the lantern and walked towards the opening.

Awwwooooooooo wooooo woooo woooooooo...

"Just the wind." She told herself, ears pricked up, "Just the wind." She pushed aside the seaweed hanging from the entrance.

FWOOOOOOM!

The Lambi jumped aside just in time to avoid being knocked in the head by a coconut.

"At. Least. It. Wasn't. A. Seagull. Like. Last. Week."

She looked around a bit, "Just the usual it seems." She shook her head, ignoring the constant howls of the wind. "I JUST WANT TO SLEHP!" She yelled to the storm then marched back inside.

She picked up and inspected the now-cracked coconut, decided it was edible, and drank the water from it, then ate the white insides. Then she fell asleep.

She dreamed the same dream she's been dreaming about for the past month. She was standing on a rock, the wind whipping around her ankles, threatening to carry her away. As the water, the voice spoke, "Go west. Defeat the beast that rises above the waves. Claim their ship as your own and sail away to a new life."

"What does that mean disembodied voice?" The Lambi replied, but the voice was silent. The only sound was the waves, going
"SQUA! SQUA!"

"SQUAAAAAA!" The Lambi woke up in an instant, feeling the sharp peck on her horns. She looked at her attacker, then jumped up.

"EXCUSE ME MR. SEAGULL BU-" She started, but the bird flew away. Away? What was it doing in her ca-

She looked around, taking in her surroundings. She was floating on a small piece of driftwood in the middle of nowhere. She looked down, relieved that her dagger was still in her belt, but her lantern and bed... even her whole cave was gone.

"Now where did they go..." She asked, watching an orange float past. “Ooooh vitamin D.” She said, snatching the fruit up and placing it in her belt for safe keeping. It was a bit uncomfortable… and she would have high sodium orange juice, but she didn’t mind.

She thought back to her dream. Was it a dream? Or… was it something more? She thought back to her earlier memories… of another Lambicorn… whose name was Mama? She wasn’t sure.”You are destined for greatness little one.” The Lambicorn used to say, before she disappeared one night without a trace. Mama had also spoken of the Mighty Hoofcules, who had completed 12 labors in order to be free of a burden. Mama talked about the great Perseus who had slayed Manedusa, the spirited Lambalanta, the strong Cyrene, the determined Psyche… and of the beasts… cyclopes, harpies, sirens, lambai, gorgons…

The little Lambi remembered these tales… or were they real? It was possible… anything was possible. So maybe…

“I think I need to go west.” She told her new orange buddy. She peered towards the direction of the sun. “I assume it’s morning… and the sun is rising thataway. So I need to go opposite… since the sun sets in the west…” She moved so she was pointing west. “Alright! Here we go!” She used her hind legs and tail to propel herself forward, making sure her orange friend was secure. “Vrrrrrr vrrrrr vrrrrr vrrr.” She made sounds like the motor boats that used to pass her island every so often.

She swam/paddled/drifted for the rest of the morning, feasting on bits of seaweed that she found along the way. She continued throughout the afternoon. By sunset, she came across...a large mass in the middle of nowhere.

“RAAH-WOOOOOOOOH” The mass rose from the waves, causing the Lambi to have to struggle to stay on her driftwood. She swam back a few feet, even though the waves had pushed her back, and her jaw dropped.

The largest ship she had ever seen was in front of her. Sailing…. right towards her. Panicking, she abandoned her driftwood and flung herself into the water (the orange and dagger stayed secure). What was that? It didn’t seem normal. She swam up to the surface and poked her head out of the water. She was closer now, enough so that she see the beings on top of the deck, but not enough so that she could be spotted. Even so, she kept her head mostly beneath the waters. Night had fallen, so it was harder to see her from a distance.

“Great work.” A rough voice said from aboard. The Lambi could make out the silhouette of a wolf-ish creature. “Keep those storms roaring.”

Storms? The Lambi thought for a bit, then it dawned on her. These creatures were causing the storm… but how?

Her answer came a minute later, “Of course, Sir.” A second wolf-ish creature, this one actually with a more pointed tail, like an imp, said, and raised a stick into the air.

“A… stick… oh.” the Lambi realized seconds before the imp-wolf-thing blasted lightning into the sky, then a gust of wind, carrying it east… towards where her home used to be.

“Alright. This needs to stop. Now.” The Lambi said, then began making her way to the ship, being careful not to be spotted. She swam underneath the hull, looking for a way in… There! She spotted a hole patched up with duct tape. How it held, she wasn’t sure, but the hole was big enough for her to slip through. She carefully undid the duct tape, slid into the ship, then repatched it up. In the same second, she unsheathed her dagger, just in case. “This thing defies all rules of life.” She muttered. No one was below deck, from what she could hear. She carefully made her way updeck. Once there, she hid behind a barrel of fish, hoping it would mask her scent. She assumed these canines had a sharp sense of smell, and she already somewhat reeked of the sea.

She was able to see them more closely. They were mainly wolf-like, but had large tails, a more fox-like look to their eyes, and had a ruff of… clouds? The one who had spoken before was pure charcoal gray with dangerous yellow eyes - the leader perhaps. That’s the one to watch out for, not the magicker.

The imp-tailed magicker was preparing to cast another spell. “Not this time boi.” The Lambi said, throwing her orange into the center of the group. It worked.

“WHAT IS THAT?” The charcoal gray barked.

“I don’t know sir. Looks like an orange.” The smallest one, a dun yellow, said. The Lambi focused on the barrels in front of her.

“I KNOW THAT EDWARD.”

“Sorry sir.”

“But wher-” The group scattered as the Lambi pushed the barrels over and gave them a push with her tail and back hooves. Some of them jumped overboard and exploded into a cloud of dust.

“Huh. They live on a ship, but H2O is deadly to them.” She muttered, rolling into the open to grab her orange buddy, then readied her dagger.

They fought back, but to no avail. Using her tail to trip her foes, pushing them over the rail, etc. she was able to fight them all of… except.

“Ah a Lambicorn.” The leader snarled, teeth a dark yellow. The magicker stood behind him. Without hesitating, the Lambi smacked the stick out of his paws, causing it to hurl into the ocean.

“NUUUUU TWIGGY!” The magicker cried, throwing themselves after it.

“Wh- why.” The leader shook his head at the magicker’s dust. “Welp.” He turned to face the Lambi. “How about we make a deal. I can’t cause hurricanes to bring world domination without Stewart and… Twiggy. You can’t get out of here without a ship.”

“I can too.” The Lambi said with a glare.

“What’s your name lassie?” The leader nodded.

“I don’t have one.”

“Well, my name is Sir Casperian, the leader, well was the leader of the Voyagolves.”

“Sorry about that, but you guys kinda destroyed my home… among other things... “ The Lambi said.

“True, true. Tell you what, you let me go free - you’re not going to get anywhere with the water with me, I have resistance.”

That made sense. The leaders tended to be more powerful in some way, but the Lambi wasn’t too sure. Throwing him overboard would be a solid backup plan. “I let you go free and what?”

“You get the ship.” Casperian said.

The Lambi thought for a bit. She didn’t really want to fight, or worse. “Deal.” She said, shaking his paw. Casperian saluted, then flew off.

“Th-they can FLY?” The Lambi shook her head, then headed back below deck. Everything was still a blur.
They went over to where they boarded the ship and inspected the duct tape hole, then assumed it was enchanted. Then they looked at the chests open on top of the table in the middle of the room. Something was poking out. Curious, she pulled out a dark gray pirate hat, lighter in color than Casperian’s fur. Shrugging, she put it on.

“It is time.” She said, then patted her orange buddy, “I have to get one for you too don’t I.”

Weeks later…

The storm was too much, even for such a mighty ship. She could see the rocks in front of her, tried to steer around them… but it was too late…

And everything went black.

“Hey! Hey! Hey you! New Lambicorn. Wake up!” Something was prodding her shoulder.

“If I have to tell you one more time seagull.” The Lambi groaned and opened her eyes. A very pink, teal, and yellow snout was inches away from hers.

“Hey Moth! They’re awake!” The pink Lambicorn said as the Lambi sat up.

“Where am I?” She tilted her head to the side, then scrambled to find her orange buddy. Luckily, he was unharmed, strapped in her belt.

“Uh… I don’t know. MOTH does this land have a name?” The pink one asked the white winged Lambicorn who was walking towards them.

“Not that I know of, Mallow? Not yet?” Moth replied, with a shake of her head.

The Lambi looked behind herself, at the ocean waves lapping onto the beach… and something else. “Oh…” Her ship… the ship she had sailed… was broken in half. Literally… half of it was missing. The other half looked intact though, but it wouldn’t sail again.

“Yeah… that was fun to drag you out of. Not hurt, are you.” Mallow asked as Moth whipped out a first aid kit. Where had that come from?

“Nah.” The Lambi replied, “I’ve been through worse.”

“Good. What’s your name?”

The Lambi thought of her journeys, her adventures… then replied:

“Odyssey.”

Lambicorn name: Ligeia
Gender: Bigender
Legend Title: The Fearless Dragonslayer
Prompt:
Oh, this legend? This legend is a lie. It never happened. Everything you've ever heard about it, was made up by the people of the Siren Sea. As for Ligeia, the one in the legend... let's just say she's nothing close to what you may have imagined.

The tales you heard, he's all buff and strong, right? Is that how you envision him? Well, here's the reality; Ligeia is absolutely nothing like that. She... or he, whichever one you prefer, is actually rather skinny. One look, and you might see Ligeia as underfed, or maybe even a lambie that gets bullied a lot at school.

If you've never heard of this legend, let me tell you about it. It all started with a prophecy from centuries ago, prophesying a royal Siren lambie prince, with an eyepatch, three horns, black sclera, and magnificent, long, kelp-like hair. However, this prophecy... it did not start out well. Both the king and queen Sirens die at the beginning, leaving the only royal lambaby all alone in the harsh, harsh, world, to fend for himself. This lambaby, he would learn to survive on his own, and grow big and strong, protecting all the lambies around him, fighting the evil and all that whatnot. The point is, he would grow to be loved by the good and feared by the evil.

One day, that special “Siren Prince” would come across his birth town again, and encounter the reason his parents died - a pair of dragons, who had made themselves at home not far from the castle. The tales tell of a mighty battle, one that shook the sky and seas, with the Siren Prince emerging as the victor, and reclaiming his former home.

Evidently, that did not happen. Ligeia is, however, the one of the prophecy though, all the signs point to it, even if he is not a “prince” nor “princess,” but something in between, or as skinny as she is, both her parents had died shortly after her birth, when she was a mere lambaby. It’s clear that the legends and stories about the old prophecy have been altered, seeing as he has a little sister as well, and is not an only child.

Growing up weak and frail with nobody left to care for her, Ligeia had to strike out alone, trying to take care of her little sister, Raidne, at the same time. With everyone watching her every move, expecting her to go back and reclaim her home, Ligeia became very stressed and under pressure, but no lambie in the Siren kingdom helped her. They merely observed. They did absolutely nothing, not even when Ligeia nearly got his right eye torn out while protecting Raidne. The expectations crushed Ligeia, who only wanted a peaceful life and to take good care of his little sister.

After years of struggle, the pair finally stumbled into a small village in the corner of the kingdom, where they met a kind, elderly, Siren named Aglaope. He helped the young pair recover, and get their strength back. As for the Sirens from where they came - they became desperate, and fearful when they discovered Ligeia and Raidne had disappeared. I guess the saying is true, you don’t know how much something is worth until you lose it. But lambies are not objects either, they’re strong forces that are hard to be contained by any one group.

The two slowly recovered with Aglaope, getting stronger with every day. With each new day came new training, as Aglaope taught the two all he knew about fighting and hunting. Before long, the two were ready to set off on their own again, and waved goodbye to a dear friend they made on the way.

With their newfound skills, they were able to build a ship - one sturdy enough to sail for days on end, but not fancy enough to catch the attention of local Sirens. Soon, they set sail, heading into the unknown, vast, world, without much guidance. But one thing they knew for sure; if their parents weren’t really dead, if they were still out there somewhere, they could find them. And the first place to look, would be the place they were born, the place their parents were supposedly slaughtered by an unknown creature.

Ligeia’s reaction when her parents didn’t return:

These were all some FABULOUS entries, but interestingly enough—this one stuck with me the most! It not only stood out from the rest by approaching the character differently, but handled the question of "how does their legend go again?" in an interesting way! I really liked the "honest" retelling of Ligeia's 'legend' and how much everyone else had blown it out of proportion! The bit with protecting his little sister is really, really sweet too. So, congratulations on Ligeia! <3 You've been added. ^^
