Owner: AwkwardAnxiety
Name: Rowena
Age: 3.5 years
Prompt:
It seems every culture, and even every species, has some variation of a Cinderella story. In Rowena’s case, it was not of servant and prince but of deer and wings. She’d heard this story from her mother as a bedtime story and from then on would beg her to tell it again whenever she could. The story went something like this.

One upon a time, there was a deer named Cinder. As a fawn, Cinder had a shiny grey coat that caused all who saw her to simply adore her but when she grew older, her coat became dull and she was shunned by the other does who thought that having her around dulled their coats as well. The stags ignored her, and she became an outcast who simply lived on the edge of the herd, never getting a chance at the choicest foods or the handsomest stags like the other does.

Then one day she was tired and figured she’d lay down to rest for awhile but when she awoke, the herd was gone and they’d left nothing to guide her to them. She cried and wailed her lost herd and feared the dangers of the forest by herself. A creature of light appeared before her and told her that she did not need her old herd. As her eyes adjusted, she saw that it bore great wings. It told her that it would give her it’s wings for a day so that she could be free from her fears and woes and have a clear mind. Then she must return it’s wings and it would let her choose a gift to keep with her for the rest of her life.

Cinder knew what she wanted, she would ask for her coat to no longer be dull and boring. She asked the creature why she could not have the gift now and rather than answer, it glowed brighter than before, disappearing, while a pair of elegant wings grew on Cinder’s back. Cinder flapped them curiously and found them strong. She continued to experiment with them and found herself flying into the sky.

She reached past the clouds and played in the watery mists of them. She toyed with the winds and laughed, freer than she’d ever been. Summoned by her joy, other winged deer flew up to join her, creatures she never knew existed, called Perytons. They invited her to play and dance across the sky with them and she agreed, forgetting her life below for a little while.

They danced and played for many hours and Conder felt at home for the first time she could remember since she was a fawn. She laughed and smiled and sang like never before. Then she saw the moon begin to tip below the horizon and she felt herself begin to fall. The other Perytons were confused why she had to leave and begged her to stay but she could not explain that the wings were not hers and that she had to return them. The thought of losing these wings only to regain mere peer adoration saddened her.

When she landed on the ground, alone, the creature of light appeared before her once again. It took back its wings and asked if she’d had a good time. Better than any in her life, she told it. It seemed to be happy with this although she could not tell if it smiled. When it asked what she wanted, she did not ask for a shiny, attractive coat.

And every moon set after that fateful day, Cinder watched it fade into the morning from atop wispy clouds with her winged friends, silvery moonlight shining on her grey coat and black wings and giving her a perfect, ethereal glow, like this was where she was always meant to be. [636 words]

Owner: Blackhoeses
Name: Amalthea
Age: 2 years 3 months
Prompt: This little ladies favorite story is The Last Unicorn, Amalthea saw it as a young fawn. She was hiding in some bushes waiting for her mother to come back form a foraging trip. When a young human decided to sit down on a rock near by and watch this movie. The young fawn was utterly entranced by the story, so much so that when her mother got back. She told her Mother she wanted her name to be Amalthea and that when she grew up she was going to have a horn on her forehead like a unicorn. Her young mother thought this was a faze Amalthea would grow out of so she went along with it. The name has stayed and while Amalthea dose not make a big deal out to it she still has a secret wish to have a unicorn horn. Since she has grown up and is more realistic she wants to find the perfect Cerith shell and have it made in to a head piece she can ware.

Owner: DarkestWerewolf
Name: Amaryllis
Age: 7 years old
Prompt:
Amaryllis’ favourite story is from her favourite TV show; Steven Universe. She absolutely love the story and dynamics between Rose Quartz and Pearl.
Back when the show first started, Pearl was shown to be fiercely loyal to Rose Quartz - the leader of the rebellion. No matter what Rose Quartz did or say, Pearl would follow. Whether it was right or wrong, she would never question Rose. However, as the story progressed on, Pearl started to grow and started seeing that the leader she had adored so much had faults. She went from defending Rose Quartz’s every action to openly admitting that while she adored Rose, she was able to admit that not all her actions were right.
Pearl was eventually able to set herself free from the cage she created herself. Her judgement was no longer clouded by obsession.
