Lion gender: Male
Pride:Ndege PridePride Status: Champion
Prompt:AN INTERVIEW SESSION WITH RAMPAGINGBUFFALO:Interviewer: So RampagingBuffalo we are here to talk about you. To start us off, where you came from and where you were born!
RampagingBuffalo: Sure. Well, I don't remember much, but I was born in the pride nearby to Ndege called "Blood Rise Pride." All the lions there are expected to be hardcore and bloodthirsty and lions are not respected unless they show great strength. My mom was just on the edge of that when she had me. She didn't even know who my father was and didn't care. All she knew was I looked like I was very big for my age and would be a great fighter. That's all she cared about.
Interviewer: Oh, that sounds harsh! Did you become a great fighter like she expected?
RampagingBuffalo: At first, yes. She personally trained me to be a strong and vicious fighter and never let me have a doubt about what I was doing. I was never allowed to ask questions and followed blindly. I quickly became a great fighter at a young age and trained very hard. It wasn't until the first mission that I started to question...
Interviewer: Do tell!
RampagingBuffalo: All right. Well, the mission is kind hard to talk about because I did something I'm not proud of, but it changed my life. I was called by the leader himself to come on my first attack mission and was super excited as I was still very young. They led us to a large meadow, and only then told us the plan. There was a pregnant Loner lioness somewhere here and we were to kill her. Being the mindless servant I was, I followed the orders. I murdered a lioness. Afterwards, I was stunned and appalled. Why had I even done it?
Interviewer: That's awful!
RampagingBuffalo: I'm not proud of it and afterwards I did the worst thing a "BloodRiser" could do. I asked "why"? My mother felt ashamed and the whole Pride looked down on me. All because I had asked a question. They never answered it and instead tied me up by the feet in a trapper's net and hung me there while the others laughed at me. After an hour, they let me go, but I still couldn't stop the questions.
I tried to be obedient again, I really did but just couldn't focus or stop myself from thinking questions. Killing a pregnant lioness? I found out that this happened every day in the Pride and I didn't know it. A couple questions later, I was cast out as a Loner Lion.
Interviewer: That must have really hard on you.
RampagingBuffalo: Oh, it was. I was so used to brute strength and hunters getting food for me, I could barely live. Somehow, I managed, though. But I still murdered animals the way I was taught which I now realize was not okay morally. Sometimes I wouldn't even eat all of it and left it to rot.
Interviewer: Oof. But I'm guessing this is how you met the Ndege Pride?
RampagingBuffalo: That is correct. I met them when I accidentally injured one of their lions. They tried to capture me for a Trial, but realized I was too powerful. So instead, a lioness came up to me and started an in-depth debate with me. I realized from her argument that my ways were wrong and I really needed to figure out for myself what I wanted. At that point I wasn't even sure. I was just trying to survive. The lioness invited me to check out her Pride and see if it maybe helped me answer those questions.
At first everyone gave me weird looks, but I quickly found that this was where I was meant to be. I became a Novice and trained to be a Guard.
Interviewer: I heard that it didn't take you long to become Champion. Is this true?
RampagingBuffalo: Hehe, yeah. From my brute strength to dedication I became Champion quickly and knew it was my destiny.
Interviewer: Wow! So what are you hoping for now?
RampagingBuffalo: Well, I hope to be able to one day get rid of the Blood Rise Pride and keep my Pride safe for as long as I can. I will keep asking questions and finding answers. I hope one day I will even get a mate and have wonderful cubs. I don't want to be remembered, just make sure I atone for my horrible past.
Interviewer: RampagingBuffalo, I think you will be remembered.

Lion name: Rosso
'red' Lion gender: Male
Pride: EcholakePride Status: King
Prompt: Like many other lions his age Rosso had always dreamed of leaving his pride and exploring the great unknown he had heard stories of as a cub. The elders of his pride would always talk about the strange creatures that lurked, the jungle that seemed to come alive at night and the sky which always welcomed him first thing in the morning. It was all so fascinating to the impressionable cub who started training straight away. Everyday he would run laps around the pride and playfight with his littermates trying to get stronger and faster. It all seemed to pay off when he reached adulthood, everyone looked up to him for his determination and strength. As soon the coming of age ceremony was over, he was off to explore, all on his lonesome but happy, nonetheless.
Straight away Rosso noticed how different life outside the pride was. It seemed like everything was out to get him. First there had been a rather aggressive pack of wild dogs who refused to leave him alone. They would surround him and nip at his ankles and back, forcing him to spin in circles trying to defend himself. After many painful bites he was able to catch one of the canine’s around their muzzle forcing it to let out a whine as the group retreated to find easier prey. Exhausted, he found a tree to shelter under as he took a quick rest.
Not long was he unconscious, before he was awoken by a vibration in the ground that succeeded in shaking the soil on the ground. Scanning the horizon Rosso noticed a group of moving blobs in the hazy horizon. It was hard to see what they were exactly, but they were big, and they were moving fast. Scrambling to his feet the male braced his paws in the ground. After a couple of seconds, he could make out the horns proceeding out of the creatures heads. That could mean only one thing and if Rosso were right it wouldn’t be good. It didn’t take long for his thoughts to be confirmed and for him to turn and break into a sprint. Memories of the elder’s stories played in his head.
“If you want to succeed, avoid the stampede, they will surprise you with their speed and their ability to make you bleed.”
That was enough to push Rosso running faster, buffalo were certainly no joke to a lone lion. As he ran the ground kept shaking, snorts and huffs could be heard behind him as the stampeding line advanced on him until suddenly there was no more land beneath his paws. In slow motion he watched as the land disappeared beneath him and he started falling until, splash! Pulled down the currents, the male desperately fought against the rapids that were determined to pull him down. Gasping for breath he tried to swim in any direction not knowing or caring which direction was land. This wasn’t something his training had prepared him for as he helplessly followed the river against his will. Quickly loosing strength, the pockets of air were growing shorter. Finally, after five torturous minutes in the rapids he bumped against solid land. Gasping he pulled himself up with the bank with any last strength left in his body before collapsing.
“What do we have here?” Asked a soft but strong feminine voice. There was a bit of rustling before he heard the voice again, this time closer. “Hello? Can you hear me?” Groaning Rosso let out some coughs trying to get any water out of his airways. Once he was finished, he let out a sigh before falling back to unconsciousness again.
The next time he awoke he felt much better and was aware of his surroundings which had changed to some… soft bedding? Confused he rubbed his eyes as he looked around. He appeared to be in a den filled with spices hanging from every corner. Deciding he wasn’t in any immediate danger he laid back down. Soon enough he heard footsteps enter the den. Looking up he met face to face with a beautiful lioness. Her pelt was alike to the snakes he had encountered on his journey and a pair of delicate fangs protruded from her gentle lips. She was the first to speak up. “Hello there, I’m Xia, founder and Queen of Echolake Pride, welcome.” With a smile he sat up and bowed slightly.
“Rosso, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
