Feelings about the outsiders; At first, Lazaris was extremely naive about outsiders. His brother would never trust him with guarding the glade, let alone even adventuring outside of it. Surely the outsiders would not be so bad? After all, its just such a shame that they don't share the same blessing as the glade's residents! Nethimir's blessing should be shared to everyone in his opinion. He himself had preened over his beautiful flower shaped jewel, believing it to be the most beautiful jewel shape he'd ever seen.
Not everyone shared this sentiment, much less his brother, ever so weary of the outsiders living beyond the confines of the sacred glade. Some of the glade's other residents didn't take too lightly to his naivety, and he suffered many a lecture from the other residents, telling him of the dark side of the outsiders, and how Nethimir's blessing was special, it wasn't something for everyone. Not even everyone in the glade had been blessed afterall.
So Lazaris decided he'd show them that outsiders weren't bad! He'd stocked up on provisions, said a prayer to Nethimir, and in the morning light, adventured outside of the glade. The cool air giving him courage. He was so focused on preparing to leave, that he forgot to even tell anyone about leaving. And when everyone awoke, he was long gone. His brother fretted for years, and the other residents worried for his safety. Despite this, Lazaris was having the time of his life. By the time he began to return, he'd explored jungles, swamps, forests, towns. He'd seen sights he'd never had the chance to see, the roaring ocean and the soft sand beneath his feet. Everything that Lazaris saw only in campfire stories and books that had been brought back by travellers to their glade, was open for him.
He had begun to understand that while in some ways he was right, afterall he'd been helped by many travellers young and old, from old Simas letting him stay at their homes in return for him helping them with things they could not do in their old age, to young kits laughing with him and begging for more stories of his travels, he'd met many a Sima with good intentions and love in their golden hearts, but despite the kindness Lazaris had been shown, thise were many Simas who were just as quick to growl at him, telling him to leave off their territory and never come back, some who stole the precious provisions he had procured, and some who readily fought with him, with their teeth in his matted fur and claws on his worn back.
By the time he had gotten back, he had learnt everything that he wanted to know. He wasn't the same naive little Sima that had left the glade so long ago, setting out on a journey that lasted much longer than they had ever imagined. He was older and had experienced both sides of life, the good and the bad. And he came to give the glade his knowledge and his treasures, from beautiful hand bound books, to priceless gemstones and stories passed down through generations. His opinion on outsiders may have not seemed to change much, he still believed that outsiders were good and that the other residents of the glade should trust them more, but the naivety that his youth had brought him was replaced with the knowledge and experience he had gained through his travels.
Yet, no matter how much he changed, his brother was still happy to lecture him on how much he had worried for him over the years, and how much of a stupid stunt it was to leave, even if he only intended to leave for a bit. Nowadays he's assisting his brother with guarding the glade, using his knowledge of the outside world to assist his sibling in his duties.
