stars like freckles upon her pale face are
woven into the dark around her like
a cosmic quilt.

She fades in eggshell skies
and blooms
in twilight hours;

in a world tirelessly obsessed with
gold, she blesses us with
her silver glow.

They say that we are made of stardust
and that our blood runs with
specks of the universe;

and maybe that is why in her
we find comfort.

Sister moon, do you look down at us?
