Combat has a lot of pent up emotions that results in aggression. Since his arrival, the kennel continues to work with him regularly, and he’s continued to make amazing progress. The re-homing program had said that he was pulled from a dog fight, and the people who had called to have him picked up explained him as a cur. But it seems to us that Combat simply just needs a little reassurance, and aside from his sudden aggressive outbursts, he’s a sweet dog who just needs someone to love him– and that’s why he’s here. <3

Oli is very dependent on me, and has a degree of separation anxiety. After being in a very negative home environment for his younger years he is now so thankful for his new-found, loving home. We get the feeling that this affectionate dog truly would die for us.

Although Oli is on his best behaviour most days, there are times when he seems to take ten steps back. Unfortunately this is the reality for dogs with harsh backgrounds; we still love him though and help him work through these psychological obstacles that he faces.

Seeing as Oli is an older husky, we try to make everyday a good one by lounging on the sofa with him or taking him out on a car ride to the forest for a hike. Simple things like this has created such an intense bond between us that both of us feel at peace when we're together. As a pair, we can do anything together!

Oli seems to be a day-to-day battle with himself which appears most prominently in times of stress. He can turn from this shy, loving, tail-wagging baby to a scared, defensive, intimidating beast. Cupid is a very introverted soul. He keeps a lot to himself and only reveals his true colours to those he trusts. He yearns to be loved and welcomed into the warmth of a hug. Cupid overthinks a lot and it gets very overwhelming for him. However, he was able to slowly learn to take it a bit easier and not overthink things as often. When he finally reveals his true self to someone, its a beautiful sight. It’s almost like he’s been reborn. He is sweet and lovable, more than happy to return the love and appreciation he’s been given by tenfolds.

Phantom is highly misunderstood because of his aggression. While he does have the tendency to snap and get quite angry, he does it because he is highly protective of the ones he loves. He loves people and other animals with so much passion that he feels like he must go to the ends of the earth to protect them, even if it is misled and unwarranted. With them, he is sociable, friendly, and playful. His scars are a sensitive part of his story, as before he was adopted he had gotten into some tussles he is not proud of, but every day he is trying to be better for his family. One day he hopes to be a guard dog they can all be proud of.
