      TAPIRS
      • i would love to see a breed specific gene that either resembles or is loosely based off of the tapir coats. i don't think they should be just based off of all tapir's however, perhaps more like the baby versions of the malayan tapir or the baird tapir. [ x x ]. these specific breeds of tapirs have such a simple and yet unique pattern.

      • i feel like it would be cute if the genetic was called 'tapirse' or 'tapi' or something along those lines, although you can totally decide for yourself. perhaps the genetic could be 'tpt+' or 'ts+', although i am not sure how you could fit those in. i can leave that up to ya''ll, haha. <3

      Image

      • here are examples of malayan tapir babies [ x x x x ]

      • here are examples of baird tapir babies [ x x x x ]

      Image

      • i was thinking for the way it would work for pups is that perhaps only 1/4 pups can get the gene from their parent. i read (somewhere) that 1/4 tapirs look like their parents when they are older. i feel like it would be a good way to carry on the gene through the pups. and even if they don't look like their parents, they still can have the same genetic locus and such.

      • okay so i know i may have said all of these in a confusing way, but i think i may have got my point through. ahah, i'm not quit sure. you can decide all the basics of the genetics and such if you chose mine! i don't think i figured out exactly how the genetics worked, but you of course can tweak them. <3

Breed Specific Gene Suggestion: After looking at different unique animals- i came across the civet! I think having a marking based off of them would be lovely! It could simply be named after the animal itself! The marking would be entirely like the black on the civet, or without the mask. Maybe two variations? One with the mask and one without it!

      Owner: baers
      Name: ande
      > after the andes mountains
      Gender: Female ♀
      Breed Specific Gene Suggestion:

      black morphed fox.

      genetic run down here

to begin, the genetic inspired by the black morphed fox resides in the A locus, affecting the legs, shoulders, neck, back, sides and face, allowing beautiful hints of the base coat to beak through among the ears, behind the armpits, along the stomach, and along the buttocks, while the tail is tipped white.

      the face :
the masking of the foxtype gene is easily covered by the E locus. the muzzle is black, but the forehead and cheeks begin to loose pigment giving the facial markings of the foxtype gene a silvery look. the E locus is dominant over the foxtype gene, allowing genes such as Masking [Em_, EmEm], Bausaunt Masking [Emb_, EmbEmb], and Glass Masking [Emg_, EmgEmg] to express over the foxtype gene.
( also including cervus masking [EmcEmc] )

      the darkest points
the darkest points of the foxtype genetic is the legs, muzzle, and the backs of the ears. along the shoulders, withers, neck, loin, and hips, the foxtype genetic darkens these areas however, is followed with a roaning effect. it allows the base color to delicately show through with small hairs of the base coat overlapping the darkness of the foxtype genetic. along the thighs to the croup, following down the tail, the markings of the foxtype gene begins to add a light tracing of slightly silvering hair. the tail however, is always tipped white !

the genetic and how other geneics affect it
the foxtype genetic is expressed as amam, however, it may be subject to change do to confusion between am_ and the m locus

Ayam = sable is dominant, there for, the collie in question would be a sable carrying foxtype.

am_ = the am_ gene is dominant over genes such as ; alpine, reverse point, and argenti.

if the collie has ; sable or agouti, these two genetics interfere with foxtype appearing, overlapping the genetic and keeping it as a carrier

the following genes however, work together with foxtype ; saddle and recessive black. saddle creates a darker foxtype with less roaning

ama = extreme foxtype, which may cause most of the body to appear black with slight silvering

amam = amam is the full foxtype genetic, fully expressing itself without any other genes interfering.

      interfering genetics continued

the S locus = any piebald gene (irish white, extreme white, piebald) will express over the amam gene as it does any other.

the M locus = the merle genetics will overlap the foxtype genetic such as it does the saddle gene [asas]

the K locus = the K locus affects the foxtype genetic as follows ; KbKb or Kbky, overrides any foxtype marking, kyky allows the gene to show, kbrkbr or kbrky may be treated how kbrkbr or kbrky is treated on the saddle genetic, while kckc or kcky will override any foxtype genetic.

      smooth variant :

      Image

      slight color variation difference

the smooth variant is a bit neater, expressing this gene a little cleaner with clearer roaning.

      rough / curly variant :

      Image

the rough or curly variant adds longer silvering hairs along the back, croup, tail, shoulers, neck and face.

I'd suggest a common classic tabby pattern. Link here
Genetics could be ctct/CTct/CTCT. Or tata/TAta/TATA

Breed Specific Gene Suggestion: .Reverse Brindle. While a regular brindle pattern occurs when dark stripes appear over a lighter-colored background, a reverse brindle pattern switches the prominence of the coloring, so light stripes appear to sit on on a dark-colored background.

Breed Specific Gene Suggestion:
'Civet' a marking that darkens the legs, tail and face, creating unique markings around the face as well, as seen here. It can appear on any base colour however is not restricted on areas such as saddle. White spotting is the only marking that can cover it, however most other markings fade into it. The 'Civet' marking often appears lighter on the legs and tail of pups however it darkens with age. There could possibly be two variations, one that affect the legs, tail and face only, then another that is not restricted and darkens the back as well. It always appears darker than the base.
Face markings can differ, sometimes showing similar to badgers.
Could be represented as 'NC_' or 'CV_'

Breed Specific Gene Suggestion:
Based off of a Striped Polecat >> black, tan, chocolate
I would name it perhaps the Cape gene or Zorille/Zorilla, other names for the Striped Polecat. Something like "Cape Striping" or "Zorilla Striping" would be good.

The white stripes can vary in intensity, but they will always run down the body in the same perpendicular fashion and from the top view they will always make an "eye" type of shape.

The face white will also tend to be a singular dot on the forehead, plus white on the ears or the cheeks much like in the second picture.

The stripes on the tail are more varied and wild, with some simply having a full white tail.

However, the underbelly of the collie will always be free of stripes. With the stripes on the back of the collie only taking up half of the body while the stripes themselves can be thick or thin, or numerous or few.
