Primals are the original species of the felidus genus. These ancestors possessed three jewels and relied
more on their strength rather than the magic within their jewels. Their bodies were more than double the size of their
modern cousins, with muscle to take down prey larger than themselves.

Despite the misconception that they were lawless beasts, they had a rigid hierarchy similar to their descendants.
They lived in small tribes ruled by an Alpha- who possessed a specialized jewel and scars that demanded respect.

Cubs born with the Alpha jewel were automatically considered to be heirs to the throne of their tribe, although they
still must prove themselves to their brethren as the rightful leader.

In early Spring, Primal tribes were discovered in few remaining numbers carrying out their seasonal migration in order to
evade the yearly freeze of their homeland.

Prompt: There's a reason his name means "Welcome Back." Despite his strength, Okaeri struggled with many dumb fears, meaning that other Simas would treat him as less than an alpha. He was considered an outcast. Okaeri's most prominent fear, ironically, was fighting. He was a pacifist. He knew the time would come when he had to fight, he had to get over his fear. The time finally came. He had been attacked and caught off guard, meaning his enemy had the higher ground. Okaeri's adrenaline rush came to him, his strength with it. He valiantly fought before eventually defeating the offender. As onlookers saw his might, he was figuratively welcomed back and had been treated like he deserved. This fight is where he gained his scars, alongside his might and will to fight for his fellow Simas.

On the day of Jakko's birth what was supposed to be a day of celebration for the tribe quickly turned into a day of confusion and uncertainty. His parents, the alphas of the tribe had been eagerly awaiting the birth of their first cubs, hoping for an heir. When the day arrived they were surprised by not one, but two cubs born with the coveted alpha jewel! The young couple was distraught, as nothing like this had ever happened in the history of their tribe and they worried for their cubs futures. As the cubs grew it became obvious which brother was favored to inherited their parents position in the tribe. The first born Issur was seemingly better than his brother in all regards; Issur was bigger, stronger, and faster than Jaako and thus received the most attention and training from their parents. However, Issur was also arrogant and cruel, and was disliked by many members of the tribe.
After their fathers death it finally came time to choose the new alpha. That morning the tribe gathered around Jaako and what was left of his small family. ''We have gathered today to witness Issur take his fathers place as our new alpha. Should anyone object, speak now.'' his mother spoke, addressing the tribe. After a brief moment of quiet one member of the tribe spoke out, exclaiming that Jaako would make a better leader and should be the new alpha. Jaako watched in disbelief as murmurs of agreement rippled through the tribe. Issur turned to his brother and snapped. ''YOU!'' he growled as he swiped at Jaako, leaving a nasty gash across his brothers face. The terrified Jaako turned and ran only to be chased by his brother. They ran until they reached a dead end, a steep cliff at the edge of a canyon. ''Please brother, you don't have to do this!'' Jaako pleaded. ''As long as you live they will never accept me as the rightful alpha!'' Issur snarled in response just before lunging forward to attack. The two rolled dangerously close to the cliffs edge as they tussled, until Jaako was able to kick his brother off of him and sent him rolling over the cliffs edge. Horrified, Jaako rushed forward to catch his brother but was too late and he watched as Issur fell into the river below. Jaako returned to his tribe to explain what happened, and was rewarded with the title he never truly wanted.
