Tell me about a weakness they have: (750 words OR 1 art piece and 50 words explanation)

Moon, graceful- ah well, until she is not. Moon has a gift, to be beautiful without trying, but even true beauty has its faults, and her weakness comes from perhaps what is her biggest flaw- she is unbelievably clumsy. She trips over herself constantly, and if it is not herself, it is the air, or a rock. It drives her insane and has a tendency to negatively impact her relationships and friendships. However, to her, clumsiness is not her weakness- if anything it is her drive, and what makes her stronger. What may be an even bigger weakness than even the perceived weakness her clumsiness provides, to her, at least, is the anxiety that she wakes up to every morning, and falls asleep to each night…

The first time her “curse of clumsy”, as everyone calls it, started was when she was little. Everyone assumed from a terribly young age that she would never be able to walk, and for a while she almost proved them correct, as she was bound to a wheelchair like device that attached to her back legs because of how much she fell. Over time, however, much to the ecstatic shock of her family, she gained enough balance to keep her on her feet for longer, allowing her to move past her handicapped youth. There is no real explanation for this physical handicap that has been uncovered- Other than her tendency to have bad motor skills, she is perfectly healthy, and her mind is as sharp if not sharper as everyone else's that she's ever come across. Unfortunately, the fear and shame that those years previously mentioned instilled in her remained, and she was still constantly anxious of making a fool of herself, as she remains today.

Like everyone, crushes were a given; she was inevitably going to fall for some other squishy water dragon; and, quite frankly, it happened often. She would meet someone, and whether it was someone she wanted to be friends with or date, something always managed to happen. And often, she did fall for those that she tried to court, and her acquaintances, too- well, fall in front of them. Sometimes she would get laughed at, those were the times that scared her the most, and surely strengthen the overhanging fear and self-doubt she holds as of now. However, just like her difficult youth, Moon often got up after her falls without anyone to help her, and if people were around during these instances they were often laughing. She would always end up going home after those sorts of experiences and cry or lock herself up, but without a doubt after a fall you could always catch her crying.

It was not always this way however, sometimes karma would aid her during these instances and when she would fall in front of a crush, they would have some bit of empathy for her and help her up, instead of the reaction she had come to expect. They may even end up talking to her for a while. When people who cared enough to help were around, that is often when she made friends. It is how she made her best friend, and many other friends as well.

When she went into the ocean for swims, she often ran into similar issues, but a little differently. Moon would end up in a current, after tripping on something in the sand or over some fish, maybe some shells, and get pushed out to sea and along the coast or to somewhere else. She often wound up far away from home, but she used this to her advantage (free travel, am I right)? Only a few times however has she wound up so far from home that it became an issue. She could easily find home with her strong intuition, and it was a trait that she loved to test the limits of.

But with tests came limits, which were met with anxiety, and Moon did have the chance to become distraught. Her anxiety rarely stops, but when it does it is a gift from the heavens. It has taken her tons of time to get to where she is, where she can walk for longer than a few minutes without tripping up. Though she still falls at the worst possible times, in front of and into crushes, into bushes, and etc. (though only once has it been a beehive and oh boy did that hurt), she has a lot of fun playing around, meeting new people, making new friends, and playing as well as talking with her new friends. It has taken her a while to learn to live with her clumsy curse, but self-reflection does lead her to believe that was she not born with such a hard to deal with handicap, she wouldn't be as strong in her mind and relationships as she is today.

Tell me about a weakness they have:
Celeste loves music. She's a DJ and she loves mixing and creating new beats. Over the years, she's gotten good and accumulated a decent-sized following, but this passion of hers comes at a cost. Usually, her ideas for music come to her out of the blue and she rushes around to get them out somehow, whether that be through writing them down, tapping the beat out repeatedly, or even humming into the recorder on her phone to save it before it becomes lost in the ever-flowing and messy thinking pattern she has had her whole life.

However, this meant completely dropping everything she was doing in order to get the thought out, which sometimes was a good thing because she wouldn't get too distracted with the idea stuck in her head, that was if she could get it out quickly, which in retrospect, rarely happened like that. It tended to go a little haywire.

For example, once, a spark on inspiration came to her when she was in the middle of one of her final exams. She fought against every fiber of her being that seemed to be screaming at her to bring herself away from the exam sitting on her laptop in front of her so she could focus. She felt sweat beading on the back of her neck as she eyes the timer in the corner of the screen.

One hour left. Sixty-five questions were unanswered. She found herself trying to weigh her options. She could sit and finish her exam, with the song stuck in her head the whole time distracting her and possibly do bad. Or, she could focus so hard on the questions that the beat and tunes would get lost and her stroke of genius would never come back to her. Her leg bounced anxiously, creaking the bed a bit and alerting her cat Mr.Butters. He lazily strolled over to her and jumped up, pawing at her shaking leg. Celeste looked down at him and chuckled, picking him up and cuddling him close to her chest. "I know Butters, you don't like when I get like this but what am I supposed to do?"

She looks back at the countdown, forty-five minutes remaining. She sighed and placed her cat on the bed next to her. Taking a small break certainly wouldn't hurt anyone. The song in her head was fairly short, she could hum it into her phone in less than five minutes and have it out of her head and still have time to finish her test. It was settled. Celeste took her phone off the charger and stood up from the bed, moving into the kitchen to give her headspace a change of scenery. She sat down at the island and opened the app on her phone and began to hum the earworm.

By the time she was done, she smiled and walked back over to her bed, plugging her phone back in and plopping down. Mr. Buters had curled up near her pillows for a nap. Celeste wiggled her fingers on the laptop keypad to turn on the screen. Bright red countdown letters met her eyes and she felt panic rise in her chest.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

This exam has now been submitted. The final score has been calculated as: 22/100.

Tears began to prickle at the edges of her eyes. There was no way she had actually been working on the song for that long. She grabbed her phone once more and played the recording. An almost fully edited tune rumbled from the tiny speaker with both her voice, drums, and electronic ambiance from the music app mixed together to create a killer sound. She could not believe that what was supposed to have taken her all of five minutes turned into an hour-long ordeal. She also felt even worse because she was doing fairly poorly in the course, science never being her strong suit, and this error would surely push her grade into failing.

She huffed and closed her laptop, rubbing the tears from her eyes and pulling her knees to her chest. She heard Mr. Butters purring at her from across the bed and she reached out a hand to pat him gently. Oh, how she loved music dearly, but she knew that it was almost certainly one of her weaknesses. Extra: (optional 500 words or 1 art piece)

The lights faded to black and Celeste felt her heart drop to her stomach. It didn't stay there for long, soon after doing numerous turns and flips up and down the inside of her body. A hushed murmur fell over the crowd. She tried to quiet her breathing, it felt like they could all hear how nervous she was. She had never played in front of a crowd this large before.

She had been playing at this venue for quite some time, and on her starring nights, it always tended to be quite dead. But for some reason, unbeknownst to her, the room was packed from wall to wall. The sweaty bodies stuffed together like sardines in a can, all riled up from the opening act before her. The only thing she could see was the glowstick bracelets and necklaces that people wore to see in the dark of the crowd. There were blackout curtains to keep the cops from being called from the intensity of the strobe lights during performances but it made the final moments before a performance even more dreadful.

She fastened her headphones to her head and pulled up her laptop to triple quadruple check that her setlist was correct. Looking out at the crowd again, she began to panic that she was taking too long. She fumbled around with the control board and she accidentally flipped one of the light switches on and off. The crowd murmured once again, this time in confusion, and Celeste's blood turned ice cold. She began to worry that they already thought she was useless and she was scared to even begin to play. She was about ready to run off the stage when she spotted someone gets up on another person's shoulders, throw their fists into the air and yell, "YEAH DJ BLACK PEARL!!"

The crowd exploded into cheers. It was the first time that anyone in the crowd had ever tried to interact with her. She felt breathless and speechless. She took another deep breath to calm her nerves, adjusted her snapback, and began her setlist. She flicked the strobe lights back on and began to headbang with the crowd as she (seemingly) effortlessly motioned through the songs, mixing and adding in new sounds as they went along.

Everyone seemed ecstatic and it was a night she would never forget. Even after the show, a small few people managed to line up outside of the doors to ask for her signature. Tears welled in her eyes but she complied with an ever-glowing smile. (426/500)

Tell me about a weakness they have: (750 words OR 1 art piece and 50 words explanation)
Astrea is a detective, and a pretty okay one at that. She is pretty clever as well, think Sherlock Holmes levels of smarts, just minus the excessive drug use. The only problem Astrea has is that she is cursed. It is not a real curse, it just seems that way to Astrea. You see, whenever Astrea gives an explanation, no one understands what she is saying. No one believes she is smart. Every deduction she gives out, although always correct, people just do not believe what she says. This leads to people just to ignore her, because surly whatever she says has to be wrong. Even though, whenever the police reports come back and people realize that she was right all along, people always forget she is smart, and continue to ignore her whenever she talks. She spent her whole life dealing with this conundrum, although it does not bother her as much as it did when she was younger. Peculiarly enough, it only seems to be when she talks that is the problem. So, she has found ways around this problem, which usually entails writing everything out for someone else to read, or using sign language. Despite her problem, Astrea still has a lucrative detective business.

There are only a few people in this world with the same problem, there may be others in the universe, but Astrea does not know this for sure. One of the people she met with this problem was a young human named, Elizabeth. At first she did not realise she had the same problem. It was not until she was listening to Elizabeth speak, that she realized that her mind was completely disregarding what Elizabeth was saying, regardless of how right she was. And she knew she was right because what she was saying was a scientific fact, but despite that, her mind was somehow compelled to not believe this fact as true whenever Elizabeth spoke. This experience was startling for Astrea, for she was never on the receiving end of one of her own speeches. She now understood how people would never believe her, but she wanted to know why this happens. Why is it when people like her speak, no one believes what she says? Is it biological, is it something supernatural? All she wanted to know was to find out why no one ever seems to believe her.

So she and Elizabeth team up to try and solve this mystery. For both of them, this problem is a small annoyance, but they both hope that the answers could help people like them in the future. On time off from her job, Astrea will work on this mysterious case. She tries to find more people like her to interview them, and Elizabeth does all the biological and sciency stuff, since she does not have a job to go to. Eventually, more people like her join in this ongoing investigation, and they become a team of misunderstood weirdos. The people around them think they are crazy, but that does not bother them.

This story takes place in the universe of one of my main stories. The world she lives on is far into the future and has a great amount of technology, along with space travel. The world has animals, humans, and aliens living in relative harmony. (relative since there is not any big wars or battles, just disagreements, small fights, normal crimes, and slight racism)
