Wisteria’s favorite hobby is making telescopes! Not only
is it her favorite hobby but it has become a dream job. She hand crafts
telescopes in modern or vintage styles using iron or gold rings to
decelerate and style her telescopes. Wisteria uses special tools to carve
complex and beautiful carvings in the wooden scopes. She sells them in
a small work shop and it is littered with antique glasses. It can take three
days to months to complete quality telescopes, but she enjoys hard work
and wouldn’t want to do anything else, except maybe do some star gazing.
Sometimes she forgets that it’s her job and views it more as a hobby.
Wisteria has built herself quite a reputation for her works, and so travel
from one place to another is common. Seeing the smile on her customer’s
faces makes it all worth while. Her hobby has lead her to donating a few
of her most powerful telescopes to star and space researchers.
But one does not simply develop a love for telescopes. Since Wisteria
was a child, her father took her star gazing every night. They would
walk out to a large pasture, where the city lights couldn’t dim the star’s
sparkle. Fireflies would twinkle here and there, but the stars and the planets
were the only thing lighting up the space around them. Her father would tell
her stories about the stars and great machines that had been built to study them.
Unfortunately, at that time, machines like telescopes were too rare. Even if
her father were to find one, it would be too expensive. Wisteria was inspired,
and took the initiative to build her first telescope. The process took many months
and lots of labor. And the books about telescopes were hard to find so in every
library, Wisteria would scower for any books about telescopes. She wanted her
father and her family to experience a close up and all the details of the bright
lights in the space above them. Until one night, she gave her project to her
father. It was the first time her father got to see the true beauty of the night lit
sky. It had taken months to learn how to build such a device, but it was all
worth in the end. That night would never be forgotten.
