Lucia tapped her foot, thinking.
"Mom, what are you doing?" Angelica asked.
"I'm trying to figure out what kind of gift I should get for your brother." She replied.
She surveyed the room.
Potted plants lay dead on the window sill, obviously killed by being ignored.
The china cabinet was closed and locked, preventing small children from getting the precious plates.
Finally, her eyes fell upon something.
"I got it!" Lucia said, picking up a empty cassette tape.
Over the few days, Lucia recorded herself telling bedtime stories, each more calming than the last.
Finally, the day came.
Lucia and Angelica exited the car and walked up to the front door.
Lucia knocked loudly, the present wrapped in wrapping paper that, in a bold font, said "Happy Birthday Son!".
The door opened and Lucia was greeted by Leon, who was standing idly in the doorway.
They nodded at eachother, and then the girls entered the home.
Marcus was sitting on the couch with two of his friends, who were eating Pizza.
After everyone ate, they finally unwrapped presents.
Marcus tore the wrapping paper off of the small box and looked curiously at the tape inside.
"What's this for?" He asked, looking up at his mother.
"Just read the label." She said.
Marcus did so, and smiled at his mother sweetly.
"This.. This is amazing.." He said, tears welling in his eyes.
"I love you, Marcus." Lucia said.
"I love you too."

Prompt;
Leon looked down at the image in his lap, a sad expression fell onto his face.
Music was his favorite thing, but it tore his relationship apart. He spent too much time on it, and not enough time with his SO and son.
He put the image back onto his nightstand and then turned to his guitar, which had been gathering dust in the corner of his room.
Boxes were strewn about, some full of his things and some full of random junk.
He got up and sat down next to a box that was labeled "electronics" and swept a thin layer of dust off the top, coughing as he breathed it in.
He opened it carefully and looked at the items, reading the labels.
He finally pulled something out. An old MP3 player with a pair of extremely dusty earbuds came out of the box.
He blew the dust off, promptly covering his desk with it, and turned it on. Its battery was half full, and only one song was there.
He read the title carefully, blinking.
"Hey There Delilah - Plain White T's"
He scratched his head and smiled.
"She used to love this song," He said to himself, looking over at the image on his nightstand once again. Getting up, he grabbed his guitar and played it quietly to the song,
"If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all"

Angelica passed by the toy isle, her mother dragging her along.
Her eyes darted across the shelves as they passed, children scurried around, as if they were looking for something.
Suddenly, something caught her eye.
A soft colored box with a bright-looking animal inside peered out behind two other toys on a shelf.
Angelica tapped her mother's shoulder before asking her,
"Mom, can we go look in that isle?"
Her mother went to say no, before stopping.
Reluctantly, she nodded.
Angelica grinned and ran to go try and figure out what she saw.
She moved the two toys and her face lit up.
'Pastel Furby! Limited Edition Toy!'
Her eyes scanned the box, reading about it, and then finally getting to the toy itself.
It had dark colored eyes. It's body wasn't a singular color, but multiple strung across in strips along the toy. It's ears were perked up, and it's hair was in a tuft on its head.
Angelica held the box up, showing her mother.
"Mom, can we get it?" Angelica asked.
"Sure, Hon." her mother replied, a soft smile on her face.
---
Angelica loves Tuft to the moon and back.
Since her parents split up and she didn't see her brother anymore, she was lonely out of her mind.
Every day was a living nightmare as she struggled to keep herself occupied, and most everything her mother tried didn't work.
But then, when she got Tuft, all of those worries went away. She was happy at last!

Dream;

Marcus was standing in a field. It was late at night, and there was a pond in front of him.
The water shimmered brightly as if there was some sort of light reflecting onto it.

He walked up to it, the light seemingly drawing him in.
When he approached the water, he instantly looked at his reflection, as if he were controlled by a being other than himself.
The water stopped shimmering, and the plants next to it stood up straight, even though it was windy.
His hair wavered slightly as the breeze carried the water to the side.
He inhaled sharply.
His reflection wasn't himself, but a creature. He knew it wasn't a Kalon.
Its eyes were red, and it had matted, dirty fur. Its face looked mangled, and it didn't have a nose.

Marcus gasped, trying to back away from the pond, but he couldn't. It was like he was glued in place.
"Let me go! Please!" He cried out.
His fur began to tangle. His reflection was now mirroring his transformation.
"N-No! No! Let me go! Leave me alone!" He cried out again.
He sat up swiftly, warm tears running down his cheek.
He opened his eyes and took a deep breath, taking in his surroundings.
He missed his mother, and when she would tell him bedtime stories, he would have wonderful dreams of fairytale worlds.
But then, his mother became more and more hateful to his father, and that tore their family apart.
Marcus sighed, curling up in his bed and falling back asleep.
