Word Count: 129
Prompt:
Mia is often alone, but that is her choice. She has never really been a social cow, probably because when she was a calf, all the others always talked about themselves but never asked about her. She always expects that now, so when someone does ask, she is taken by surprise but sometimes indulges in their small talk. She daydreams a lot when she is alone and likes the quiet. Instead of hearing chatter constantly, she can listen to the sounds of nature. Mia also loves to read, the smell of the book and turning each page is enthralling. Rarely does she ever feel truly alone, but if she does, shell just wander over to the chatty cows and they are always ready to welcome her into their circle.

      Word Count: 130 / 100
      Prompt:
Has there ever been a time your Buttermilk has ever felt alone? If they have, how do they deal with it? On the flip side, if your kiddo is more of an optimist, perhaps they could recall some good times they've had with friends and reminisce with Liz!

Morgan has spent a lot of his early, repressed childhood alone. However, once he ran away to the woods, he suddenly found himself surrounded by company. Both animals and plants alike had begun to spend their time with Morgan, either from Morgan visiting them (esp in the case of plants, which could not move much but could appreciate Morgan's presence nonetheless, at least in his perspective) or them dropping by Morgan's little camp in the forest. So, he never really found himself alone: he enjoyed all the bustling activity around him, and did not mind solving their problems as a result.
Now, though, Morgan truly never is alone: with Wulfe, he is no longer lonely. He is no longer just by himself, but has his loving husband by his side.

Buttermilk: Triton
Word Count: 258
Prompt:

Soon after becoming an adult, Triton moved off of his parent's farm and his own. After Rho ran away, he felt increasingly lonely. He knew there were people out there who were only children but as much as he bugged his sister about being lazy and not liking her attitude, they were each other's support system.

Triton remembers sneaking into Rhodos' room whenever she would get in trouble to spend time with her because he knew sitting in silence and having nothing to do drove her crazy. And vice versa, on the few occasions that he messed up, she'd bring him snacks and sit on his bay window, reading books or drawing because that's how Triton preferred to spend his time.

She let him ramble on and on about plants when he was feeling low and he would always go on adventures with her when she needed to blow off steam. Once, she had gotten grounded for evading work on the farm for weeks at a time and she wasn't allowed outside of the room except for doing her chores. After their parents had gone to bed, Triton took her a plate of leftovers from dinner and they went off to the forest, muddying their shoes as they pretended to be wizards of a fantastical realm.

Triton often thought back and reminisced those times with his younger sister when he didn't have anything else to occupy his thoughts. He was lonely on the farm, but he always held out hope that she would come back to find him.

Day 5

    Buttermilk: Wulfe

“I’d like to help harvest some more!”
    Username: ceance
    Buttermilk: Wulfe
    Word Count: 502
Prompt: Of course Wulfe had been lonely throughout his life, hadn't everyone? He might have been one of the special cases where he was lonely for longer periods of time and at a more extreme amount, but he had been lonely before. His parents were always there with him, but they weren't ever there for him. He wasn't ever left alone in the house or anything, but when he needed emotions to be dealt with, he didn't have anyone to rely on. There wasn't a shoulder that he could cry on; hell, he wasn't even allowed to cry half the time. Wulfe wasn't trained to have emotions like he was trained to be stoic.
Regardless, there were times when Wulfe had been in college and he felt lonely. It was hard, hating the population around him solely because of what had happened to his parents. Until Bianca came around, he was left feeling like he was supposed to be lonely throughout his life and without anyone else to rely on. His life consisted of sticking to himself. Then he met Bianca and while she absolutely annoyed him, he got used to her rambling and even began to enjoy it. For once in his life, he didn't feel lonely and distant from the world around him.
She was his way into the social world. She allowed him to become more acceptable of the people around him. He didn't see everyone as a nuisance that should be avoided, instead he saw people as just that. People that were human. They made mistakes, they caused trouble and they were probably the main issue on the planet, but they were still people and that meant something major to Wulfe. It made him realize that the world might be cruel and bad in itself, but there were some good parts of the planet that he couldn't miss.
Then, through Bianca, he met his entire future in one sitting. Morgan was a surprise that jumped on him and he genuinely didn't expect to get far with the other man. Wulfe hadn't ever dabbled in relationships, at least not serious ones, and couldn't even see himself getting past having to grit his teeth to stand around Morgan. But alas, here he was, talking casually with Morgan on a daily basis and sharing his life with him. Morgan weaseled his way into Wulfe's life by chance and he wouldn't change his husband for the entire galaxy.
Long story short, of course Wulfe felt lonely. He never truly had anyone there for him until Bianca came into his life and showed him just what it was like to be social and accepting of the world, regardless of what it was inherently. Then came Morgan, his faithful, beautiful husband. It's hard for Wulfe to say that he's lonely anymore, with every other text coming from either Bianca or Morgan, especially when he's trying to relax, but he doesn't mind the social life. Being lonely was worse than having people that cared about him.

“I’d like to help harvest some more!”
Username: Northstar.
Buttermilk: Eponine
Word Count: 609
Prompt:

Eponine knows loneliness when she looks in the mirror.  It is cold and creeps up like a waking dream. She walked hand and hand with it for over six long months; she and solitude were close friends. Not by choice.

No, Eponine was made for people.  It was a deep betrayal that sent her running in the opposite direction with only herself for company. After that, no living beings were seen for many, many long and lonely weeks.  She blossomed in that time, became someone independent. But her soul withered nearly to dust.

She remembers that first day truly alone.  Trapped in a room, surrounded by death. He had used her as bait to save his own skin.  She didn't think she could go on.  She was so broken from his words.  All of what made her Eponine was in jagged shards.

He thought that I had paper wings to shatter, crumble, melt away...

But she went on.

I am iron, forged in fire. I'll live to fly another day.

She managed to escape the horde and flee. Eponine remembers running flat out down the street, her heart in her throat as she looked for salvation.  It came in the form of a dumpster, leading up to an empty fire escape.  At the time she thought death had come for her - she was trapped on a roof with no supplies.  But there was an unusually large air vent and she slipped through into the building below.

It was a blessing.

The museum was boarded up and barred.  It would be the last place anyone would go.  She alone made the museum home and at first it was nice.  Peaceful.  Eponine nested in the smallest room she could find for safety, until she realized there was no way anyone was getting in.

Supply runs were hard alone.  From the moment she left to the moment she returned she was on edge. With no one to watch her back any small mistake would cost her life. That wasn't a price she was willing to pay.

Time blurred together, endlessly. She lived and breathed but Eponine did not live. She survived but she did not enjoy it. She was trapped in a neverending cycle with no one to break it.

A stray cat wandered in one day, squeezing between weakened boards. It woke something in her. She wanted to find someone, someone living, but if she couldn't then she would take what she could get. Eponine scavenged daily for supplies. Cat food and litter and toys were stocked, and soon she had a half dozen cats regularly in an out, and another two that made themselves at home. It helped. She didn't feel so foggy headed and goals became more clear.

The birds came after, housed separately in the vast greenhouse that was formerly a butterfly garden. They came on the heels of Ghost - who Eponine chased tirelessly for weeks before she could convince the reclusive bovine into teaming up.

The loneliness cleared and thinned into something manageable. Eponine finally had ahold of herself again. Ghost was company and Ghost was there. She finally, finally wasn't alone after so many long months. It was like coming out of a dream and stepping into the waking dawn. She felt alive. She felt like she could do anything.

It's only in quiet moments that it creeps upon her again, and she beats it back with fierce fists. She won't fall beneath that lonely call again, to be in a waking slumber - it would make her no better than the creatures that hungered outside. And she refused that fate long ago.

Word Count: 385
Prompt:
"I will not lie, it's been kind of difficult doing this all on my own. I'm really happy you're here to help," Elizabeth wrapped her arms around Antheia and gave a light squeeze. Antheia was glad that Elizabeth was getting assistance not only from her but from other moos. It made Elizabeth happy and happy was good, it spreaded positivity. Antheia was glad Elizabeth didn't feel alone, its hard to handle for Antheia had experience. She had always felt alone depsite being surrounded by people. It was like she could not attach to anyone, mentally or emotionally and it frustrated her. She had always been like this her whole life, alone. Except that one memory she had regained of that bull covered in moss and vines. She wished he could be here but she also hopped her was safe and okay. She did not want to be alone although nobody did in general. Being around people excited her core but she still felt lonely at the end of the day. It was saddening. She had to step past it and continue to put herself out there for friends. She needed to stay in contact with people no matter how hallow her body felt. In all honesty, Antheia was okay with being alone. Yes, there were sad times where she didn't know how to cope with it but then there was other times where she cherished the quiet empty space. She couldn't decided if she really wanted to be alone but interacting with people at the booths and throughout the farmers market made her long to have friends, people close to her, people who she could love and treat right.

"....eia, ..theia, antheia!" Antheia's head snapped towards Elizabeth and her voice. "I've been calling your name for the past 5 minutes! Are you okay? Is it the suns rays? Do you need to get some water?"

Antheia shook her head, "No, I'm okay I was just thinking sorry." Antheia nudged Elizabeth slight as she gave her a worried look, "I'm okay, I promise."

"Okay, as long as you take care of yourself and be safe, that all that matters."

“I’d like to help harvest some more!”
Username: Ravendarus
Buttermilk: Lydia
Word Count: 507
Prompt: Lydia nodded her head, "I can understand." She said, "After my mother and I went our separate ways so I could find my father I admit... it was hard and very lonely." She said, "I can't remember feeling more lonely then those sleepless nights. I admit I didn't handle it well." She said gently, "I mean... it's different being on my own knowing that when I go home someone else is there." She said gently, "But being truly on my own was absolutely devastating, it took a while to get used to it and then it just became normal." She said. "It took a long time to deal with it and then the next thing I know I didn't realize how lonely I had been feeling until I was completely alone and then reunited with my father. Once I joined back up with him I didn't realize at first and then the first day I was without him again was torture. I felt the solemn pull of my hearts strings and then a wash of relief once my father was home. I decided at that point I didn't want to be alone again. It took some time for me to get back to normal and now I can go alone for a bit I guess. It doesn't feel the same but at least I know when I leave to be on my own I will come home to my family." She said.

"Mhm? Good memories?" She asked, "I guess... I don't know. I thought about it I suppose." She said, "I remember one time when Venus was just a little calf I had to babysit her so my Dad and Marshmellow could work." She said, "She was my baby sister after all so I figured I'd take her around town and show her around." She said. "We ran into Zebra and Savannah there. Venus ran off while I was a little distracted. Now I know what you are thinking, but it turned out in the end. Zebra and Savannah noticed first and I felt terrible I was supposed to be responsible for her. I knew my father would be very upset with me... in the end they ended up helping me find her, turns out she was following after a cow with a box of donuts, she really wanted to try one." She said. "So we took her to the shop and ate a ton of them before dinner." Lydia mused faintly. "It was a good time in the end even if it started off rough... then there was the time that Venus fell in the pond." She said, "Or the time that Zebra got lost even though her house was right behind her. Then there was the time that Magpie and I got in that fight and ran away hiding in a pile of hay..." She mused, "It was nice." She said gently. "That... is all." She said, "That I can say really, if I think of anymore I will let you know." She said softly.

“I’d like to help harvest some more!”
Username: Bluebird-
Buttermilk: Belle
Word Count: 313
Prompt: Belle nodded to Liz, grinning as she accepted the thanks. "Oh, it's no problem at all!" she beamed, equipping her saddle baskets to head back into the field. Today was turnips and beets, luckily they both had clumps of sprouts that she could easily pull up to fling the roots into the baskets hung on her sides. She recalled her childhood and how alone she was, being called a freak for her love of reptiles. However, she had made many friends in her adult life!

There was Kenya, a gorgeously slim antelope who always wore light, colorful scarves with intricate designs on them. Kenya took a particular liking to snakes and they took a particular liking to her long, twisty horns! Benji was neat too, he was that big old tortoise who was able to speak to the other shelled reptiles on Madagascar, a special talent none of the other researchers shared. Belle's closest friend, though, was a Highland cow. She wore beads in her long fur and loved walking around in the jungles and down on the beach. Her and Belle frequently combed the sands for shells to collect, putting them into a large jar that they stored in the cabin they shared. The heifer had really taken a likening to Idra, though she never confessed her feelings. It wasn't too late though, the next Madagascar research trip was only a couple months away and Belle couldn't wait to see her again! She had made some special hair adornments from twine and shells they had collected on their last trip that she was excited to give to her friend. There were 3 she had made, the twine a different color in each, one was the traditional brown, the other was a deep green, and the last one was a rusty orange. All would compliment Idra's fur color and were made with love!
