Leaving the crop fields behind her, Alli made her way over to Daffy's booth, hoping there would be positive news regarding the recent duck-related events. Oh, how she had been worrying about that poor thing.
When she arrived, Daffodil informed her of the bird's most recent misdeeds. She gasped, followed by a burst of laughter. That silly duck, how much more trouble was it could to cause?
After finishing her conversation with Daffy, she decided to head over to the booth of the unfortunate vendor. "H-hi, sorry about what happened to your produce, that's really a shame." He simply grumbled in response. Just as Alli was turning away to find something to do, she was struck with an idea. She could totally use the produce to try and find the duck!
It was simple logic, the duck must have enjoyed the produce if he ate so much of it overnight, so why couldn't she use it to lure it back? She began to formulate a plan. What was the best way to catch the duck without spooking or harming it? A funnel trap!
After spending some time thinking out the logistics of the trap, Alli went all around the farmer's market collecting supplies, it was worth it if it worked. She spent the rest of the afternoon assembling some mesh net in a big circle, attached to wooden poles, with an opening that is tapered inward. Now all she had to do was get some of those fruits and veggies to put inside, put on the top and voila! They would get that duck in no time.
When Alli went back to the booth, the vendor didn't look any happier than he had been the first time she saw him. "Hi again," she stammered, "would it be possible to borrow some of your fruits and vegetables?" "Borrow?" "Well, not really borrow I suppose. I'm trying to catch that duck that's on the loose, you know the one that- uh, never mind. I think I could lure him into a trap." He grunted, shaking his head, "That darn duck isn't getting any more of my produce than he already has!"
After several minutes of back and forth, Alli almost gave up until she pointed out that; "Well, if you donate some of your product, and the duck gets caught, he won't be able to get any more of it after and you would save more in the long run!" After a few minutes of consideration, the bull finally gave in.
Alli remembered hearing somewhere that ducks enjoyed grapes, bananas, and peaches, so she gathered a couple of each and headed back towards the funnel trap, "Do you really need all that?" "Just trust me!"
The heifer placed a couple pieces of fruit inside the mesh circle, then laid the rest in trails going various directions all stemming from the entrance. What she hoped would happen is no matter which way the duck came from they would follow a trail into the trap and could be caught. The last step was to place some mesh on top so the duck couldn't jump out, held down with a couple of rocks. Alli stood back admiring her handy work.
Now it was just a waiting game.

"Oof, this duck! Hopefully now everyone realizes how serious this is and follows the rules. I’m sorry this has been so crazy, but I’m grateful for your continuing help. Here’s another 6 sunflower seeds for each of you to recognize all of your hard work!
Maybe today we should take a bit of a rest... our traps have been set, and the fruit and veggies carefully placed. Hopefully they’ll work!
