Day 2

    Day 2
    Username: ceance

    Cow: Percival
Prompt: Percival knows for a fact that other people look at him with sympathy, thinking of him as a helpless child due to his extreme anxiety and his solution to most problems being a good cry or cuddle. While there isn't anything wrong with this, sometimes it does upset him to see people smile sweetly at him and treat him differently as a result of how he acts. Sometimes he doesn't want people to constantly sympathize him or act like he is entirely helpless. It is nice to get help now and then again, but sometimes he can't even try to lift his dog's food up without some bystander offering to step in.
It isn't like Percival can help his irrational fears of his troublesome anxiety however. He acknowledges this and as a result he can only politely decline bystanders help and explain that he doesn't need their help. It might not prevent everyone from offering to help him based on his feminine and gentle looks alone, but he can't help his own sense of style. Overall, while Percy doesn't exactly favor being offered help at the drop of the dime due to people stereotyping him as a helpless damsel, he can't necessarily help it. He would never think about snapping at anyone for helping him and he doesn't blame them for helping him; he would probably offer to help himself too. [231W]

Day 2
Username: Knickknacks
Cow: Phoebe
Prompt:
There is an interesting duality in the way that others tend to perceive Phoebe. Her bright, warm coat color and her cheerful markings, from the sun and clouds on her flank to the small mustache-like one gracing her muzzle, might give a first impression of a cheerful, 'sunny' personality. Indeed, many are surprised upon meeting Phoebe when they hear the typically deadpan manner in which this heifer speaks. It's not that Phoebe is unfriendly, so much as she comes off quite differently than might be expected. Her sense of humor is usually quite dry, and not everyone she meets understands or appreciates that.

Phoebe is well aware of this contrast between the expectations others might have before truly meeting her, and the way she acts in reality. When she was younger, especially, she struggled greatly with this perception. Many times she wondered- was she supposed to act differently? Was there something wrong with her sarcastic smiles and wry jokes? Should she perhaps try to change herself, to better match up to the 'sunny' kind of persona that seemed to be expected of her?

It took a long time, but Phoebe feels that she has grown into herself. Where she used to become anxious about others' perception of her, she now finds it amusing when someone is surprised by her mannerisms. She knows she might not match up with one's first impression, but has made more friends by being honest about herself than she ever did by trying to pretend she was someone she's not.

Day 2
Username: BadgerBuddies
Cow: Bodhi
Prompt:
Bodhi wasn’t always quite sure just how other Buttermilks viewed him. He’s often wondering if many take pity on him considering the fact that he was orphaned as a calf and then adopted. Is this the only reason people are so kind to me? he often asked himself.

In addition to that, Bodhi also struggles with his body image. He can be prone to stress eating, which does not help with the way he views himself. To most, Bodhi appears to be a young, fit, handsome bull, but when he looks at his own reflection, worry and doubt flood over him. For some reason, he sees a chubby and out of shape Buttermilk instead. He’ll poke and prod at his body, wondering if this thing or that thing could be improved upon. He fears having to get on the scale.

What the soft bull doesn’t see about himself is his kind heart and gentle nature. While he may fool himself into thinking those around him don’t truly care about or appreciate him, he could not be more incorrect. How Bodhi views himself and how the world views Bodhi are two very different beasts. He does a good job at keeping this discrepancy between his mind and reality hidden, but those close to him that know his true feelings wish he could love himself like everybody else does.

Day 2
Username: Northstar.
Cow: Khepri
Prompt:

Khepri is like a star you can't quite reach - cold and untouchable and bright in the dark. She doesn't mean to be this way - distant and chilled.  It takes light-years for you to see past this perception, to see how bright she really is.  The closer you get, the hotter she burns, until her light blinding and all-encompassing.  She draws you in, until you're stuck in her orbit - how she sees things, how her world works.  You'll never want to leave.

She wishes she looked softer, friendlier, more approachable.  Maybe she'd have more friends if she smiled more, laughed louder, loved easier.  Khepri adores people - she likes their quirks and their smiles; she wonders if maybe her own laugh is what keeps them at bay - a soft snicker behind covered hands.  Now what she doesn't like the cutting eyes, or snide remarks - and most of all she doesn't like assumptions.  She's confronted a few with winning smiles and a sunny disposition. Kill 'em with kindness.

She can't help that she walks with her head high - to some she's merely a mirage.  It is only when Khepri's dancing that this outer view of her fades into smoke and her bright personality shines through like a beacon.

Day 2
Username: Cactologist
Cow: Bedelia
Prompt: Bedelia thinks first impressions are everything, and she would never want to come off as rude. She sees everyone as a possible friend, and strives for them to see her the same way. She'll make friends with anyone that will let her. She knows everyone has their own battles, struggles, hopes, and dreams, and she wishes nothing more to help them get through life. Since she sees everyone as a friend, she is immediately very bubbly and open, sometimes too open that it can be compromising. In the past this has come back to bite her, but she never changes her ways. Those who know her think her heart is immune to breaking, and that she'll always look for the good in people, not the bad. She is definitely a people's-person (or should I say, a cow's-cow) and very optimistic, which is obvious upon the second a stranger sees her huge smile. She could talk to others for hours and never get bored or feel awkward. At the same time as all of this, though, she holds herself to a higher standard. She knows you are who your friends are, so she keeps her distance from hooligans, while still being kind to them. She also appreciates time alone, so she can unwind and recenter. Even when she's low on energy, though, she still is as friendly as possible. She doesn't see the purpose in being mean or trying to put others down, because that would just be a waste of effort. Overall, nearly everyone like Bedelia, and she wouldn't want it any other way.

Day 2
Username: ♔Voltaire♔
Cow: Bridgette
Prompt:
"Honestly, I am not quite sure how everyone in my herd perceives me. I always try to be peppy and cheer others on whenever I can, just because that's how my siblings and I were raised. I am really on-and-off when it comes to whether I care about what people think of me or not. There are days where it really bothers me and then there are days that I don't have the energy to care.

How I want others to perceive me? I want them to see me as someone they can always talk to, someone who they can confide in or ask for help whenever they need it. Lots of people tend to fear social interaction but I crave it badly, and when someone seems afraid of me it really does hurt my feelings, because I am a really nice person I think. I want people to perceive me as kind and compassionate, someone who is there for people no matter what. I want them to respect me, to trust me, and to think of me as a responsible individual."

"I don't really go out of my way to make sure people perceive me correctly. I just do what I have to do and then start back at square one! I honestly think it's a waste of time trying to please everyone, but as long as I can make at least one person smile each day, that's enough for me!"(242 words)

    Day 2
    Username: acadicus
    Cow: Edmond
    Prompt:

"I can't say I know exactly how others perceive me, but I do hope it's something positive. I know sometimes I really don't put too much effort into being a nice guy. Don't we all have those days? I try my best to keep that under control, though. I hope it's not too off-putting. I'd hate to be that mean old guy that lives around the block.

"I really wish people would see me as someone they can confide in. I know I have needed others too many times to count and I would like to return the favor. It's hard when you feel like people don't trust you, though, isn't it? I just want people to see me as a good person. To be fair, I think everyone does. But it's difficult when you sometimes don't see yourself as a good person.

"Eh, I suppose you could say it's that. It's more like when I feel I did something wrong or I could do it better I'll craft something up to apologize, in a way. I'll make the occasional batch of muffins or a little twig doll for a calf. That really sounds like bribery, doesn't it? I have good intentions though. Wow, I sure hope they take it the right way." Day 1
Username: Pufferheart
Cow: Beth
Prompt:

When you first take a look at Beth, you see an angry, mad, and grumpy Buttermilk. Beth is usually frowning and swishing her tail around about something recent that made her mad. She knows she's seen this way, but she doesn't ever hardly try and change it, . When others ask her why she doesn't try to change her mood around, Beth responds that she was just born that way and that's just the way things are going to be

The thing those others don't know is that she has tried to change her personality quite a bit in her past. All Beth ever wanted was a good friend, and at multiple times Beth felt that beong less angry all the time was the right step forward. Unfortunately, she wasn't successful. It always makes her extra mad inside whenever Buttermilks just view her just as someone with a bad temper. But Beth has never told that to anyone, so she continues on as that one Buttermilk with a temper.

What Beth doesn't know is that some see her as a lonely soul. They see how she doesn't have any friends and how she travels around often. But those Buttermilks are far and few, and those Buttermilks are often scared off by how mad she always seems.

Heartland Hootenanny (Day 2)

Postby ptarmigan » Wed Apr 15, 2020 9:53 am

day 2
username: ptarmigan
cow: froyo
prompt: froyo was unsure how people saw her. if she had to guess, she suspected nobody paid much attention to her where there were many people. living in a place with nearly year round snow, the white cow tended to disappear into the background. she was soft spoken, so many people simply talked right over her or just would not hear what she had to say.

she was extremely sociable, though, despite her soft voice and quiet demeanor. if in a small enough crowd, froyo will definitely shine through. rather than being mistaken as a quiet introvert, people begin to see that she's truly just a gentle extrovert. froyo strives to make people smile and always has random facts to say - endearing or annoying, depends on who you ask - and is almost constantly smiling. to others, they might view her as bubbly (and a little air headed) but she didn't mind that. she always felt like happiness was the most important thing in life - and being seen as a happy, go-lucky heifer wasn't all bad.

the lengths she goes to change people's perception of her? well, the one thing froyo knows for sure that she does is always act happy - even when she's not. she created an image of an always happy and carefree heifer and refuses to let people see her get sad, angry, or annoyed.

    Day 2
    Username: paopu
    Cow: Caspian
    Prompt:
How is your Buttermilk perceived by others, or how do they wish that they were perceived? (Optional Addition: What lengths does your Buttermilk go to to nudge people in the direction of the way they want to be perceived?)

At first blush Caspian is perceived as fairly average. There's nothing particularly distinct other than perhaps a touch of beauty. Other than that she's not tall or short or smart or dumb; she's just sort of...there. And then she opens her mouth. It takes about two seconds of Cas talking for someone to get the impression that she's a bit in over her head. Impulsive and a little rash, but in a way that speaks to a calm before the storm. Really, she's been told she's terrifying and, honestly, she's flattered by that assessment. She's determined to make something of herself and would love nothing more than to earn a Reputation, for better or worse. After all, all good pirates eventually get a moniker of some kind.

Most of the island honestly just finds her a little silly. Some of them mean it fondly, others not so much. Depending on who you ask you're likely to get everything from a good-natured eye roll to an angry scoff. Either way, Cas is used to it. She may want to be known, but honestly she's not attached to her little island in any real capacity. She's far more concerned with impressing the outside world and exploring whatever it has to offer.
