Heartland Hootenanny (Closed)

Postby sprig » Tue Apr 07, 2020 1:13 pm

“Howdy there! This being my first year running the show and all,
I wanted to try something new and start up a good ol’ fashioned Hootenanny!
Oh, ya’ll never heard of that? Well, it’s just a fun and easy way to get to
know people, let me explain! All you gotta answer the ‘get to know you’
questions and I’ll give you some Sunflower Seeds to spend at the shop!”

- These questions can be written in any perspective that you would like - Keep in mind they are not necessarily formulated as if someone is asking them directly, they are more to help you build some core developmental pieces of your Buttermilk!
- Unlike the other booths, you can change the cow you are using daily when answering Daisy Grace’s Hootenanny questions, though it is highly recommended that you stick to one, to fully develop them!
- You are welcome to copy the daily questions and store them where it is convenient for you, to reuse when developing your other characters!
- The “optional addition” questions will not earn you more sunflower seeds; they are simply to help add on and give ideas on more development!

All questions have a MINIMUM of 200 words, but no max! All prompts will be awarded the same amount of tokens so long as they meet the requirements, except for in special cases when tokens may be awarded for outstanding creativity. This booth is meant to give you the tools to create a deep connection and development of your Buttermilk!

This booth rolls over at 8:00am CST

Day 7: how did your Buttermilk feel about the farmers market? Did they learn a lot about themselves?

    Day 1
    Username: Areater
    Cow: Tempest
Prompt: "oh, wow, i haven't thought about home in a while, haha," tempest said with an awkward smile. "although, the gladiola herd is my home now. anyway, i hardly remember where i grew up, to be perfectly honest...i found the gladiola herd when i was hardly an adult, and my childhood was nothing to write home about. it was just me and my mom, and we lived in a barnyard. it's funny, really - a lot of the herd has never even met a human! but i was pretty comfortable with them - they mostly ignored us besides feeding us. anyway, it was nice. it rained a lot, so i spent a lot of nights in the barn, listening to the pitter-patter - or sometimes, the torrent - of rain on the roof." she smiled at the memory. "anyway, it was nice, but it's nicer to be with so many other buttermilks. i hardly even think about where i grew up, but it was nice to think about. thank you." she swished her tail. "you know, besides the rain on the roof, another nice memory i have is of being pet through the fence by small humans. they're so cute when they're little - they would go wild when i would tilt my head and my bell would jingle, and they'd always feed me through the fence. it was silly - i had the exact same grass on my side - but i ate it anyway, just to hear them giggle. i guess i miss that, a little. but as for the actual location...i prefer the wide open space and wandering on the hillside."

Day 1
Username: BiscuitTheDog
Cow: Carmie
Prompt:
"Oh, sure!" Carmie responds to the cow. "I already told Azai over at the cafe about my place of upbringing and I don't feel the most comfortable sharing it again. So... I'll talk about a prominent place in my life!
I haven't been many places. Was just where I live now (Hidden Stars Ranch) and the place where I was born and spent a year of my life in, a factory.
So I guess I'll talk the ranch!
It's a very neat place. Good food, good water, good toys. The humans that work on the farm daily are kind and they never brush me harshly or do anything bad, really. It is the best life I ever could've asked for. I've never had a bad day, and the other animals that reside on the farm are very nice aswell! they never talk bad about the place, either. Might sound generic, like I've found the perfect, bestest place ever, but it really is great. Not perfect- There was an incident when I was relatively new to the ranch. One of my friends that had come with me to the ranch, who I will not name, accidentally stepped on the leg of a rooster one gloomy morning. It had caused a huge commotion. That friend had blamed me for it, which I didn't understand and... Oh, it was just a big mess. there are sometimes still days like that, but it's all fine and dandy overall.
It's a great place. there are ups and downs somtimes.
But I wouldn't have it any other way."

Day 1
Username: ♔Voltaire♔
Cow: Bridgette
Prompt:

"Oh man, where do I begin? You see, when I talk about home I tend to go off on these long tangents, so I really do apologize if I start to ramble- just shove a piece of pie in my mouth if I start talking too much, you have my permission!"

"I grew up on this super small family farm called Willowbend Farms. When I say small, I really do mean it- I was one of only a dozen cattle, another being my friend, Temperance- but we grew up in that small barn together and made so many wonderful memories there. Willowbend was something out of a storybook, the geography of the location really did lend itself to the name of our farm! The willow trees there were absolutely stunning, I loved resting under them. When I was a kid I used to pretend they were like entering a whole new world, almost like weaving your way through vines and shrubs through a jungle. They were my favorite hiding spot, almost like a secret lair, and my goodness did the other calves and I have a blast! Oh! And there was this rickety old watermill that nestled into the hip of the property as well, and we would always go down there to drink from the river and watch the wheel turn. We had a lot of minks living in the area, so we would chase em around for as long as we could to see who could stay on their trail the longest. Yeah... That watermill was where my best friend met her husband- it's where I first learned how to swim and where my first boyfriend broke up with me haha! So many memories, I wouldn't trade them for the world."

"That farm was wrecked due to a huge virus that spread. It affected all of the livestock in such a short time, and we lost a lot of people. Tem's husband, her calf... It was horrible. We were the only ones that really made it out, and I honestly didn't think i would make it either. I caught it bad, and it took forever for me to stand up and start walking again afterwards. But Tem stayed with em that whole time, even though she knew her family was gone and buried under the willows right outside. As soon as I could walk we were out of there. I miss it. I do. No matter where I go I always think back to Willowbend, and truly nothing compares. Gosh I wish you could have seen it in all it's glory. You would have loved almost as much as I did. As much as I do still. " (449 words)

Re: Heartland Hootenanny (Day 1)

Postby BadgerBuddies » Mon Apr 13, 2020 2:44 pm

Day 1
Username: BadgerBuddies
Cow: Bodhi
Prompt:
Bodhi would often find himself lost in thought about where he came from. It was all such a mystery to him. He couldn’t remember anything about his origins, not even his real mother. Of course, he was wonderfully grateful and happy for the childhood he had and his adoptive family, but there was always this shroud of unknown he felt was surrounding him. He didn’t truly know anything about himself he felt like, and this troubled him.

He remembered vague bits and pieces, like lying alone and scared in a run down shed. There was this cat that would come inside every so often to keep an eye on him, but other than that, he was truly a lone calf. Every so often, baby Bodhi would squeak out a weak call, for someone, anyone, to come help him. It felt like he was there for forever until his adoptive mom Briar came along, nuzzling in alongside him in comfort and strength. Before this, however, he couldn’t remember a single thing.

The thoughts tore Bodhi apart; on one hand, he’s had such a happy life! He’s been given everything he could have ever wanted or dreamed of. He lives with a big, happy herd of Buttermilks on a large piece of property with woods and trails and creeks and even a wonderfully large garden! What more could a bull want out of life. Maybe to know his true parents? He wondered if knowing even just their identity, or just seeing a picture of them would help ease his mind. Just to know who they are so he could get back to his normal day to day life.

Bodhi suddenly got a massive chill that jolted him awake again. He looked around, wide-eyed, coming back into the present. The bull realized he was in the middle of a hootenanny of all things, and he was trailing off again, wondering about his past and who he is. He sighed, trying to quickly recompose himself, as this was supposed to be a fun event. He didn’t want his overactive mind to ruin the festivities for himself or anyone else around him. Bodhi shook himself off and took a deep breath. Everything was going to be ok. Now that he was more relaxed, he set out to have as much fun as he could at this hootenanny!

Day 1

Postby yeena » Mon Apr 13, 2020 3:03 pm

    Day 1
    Username: ceance

    Cow: Percival
Prompt: Percival was like every other average child, except that he was twice as sensitive and he had a habit of wanting to hide away. He was scared of everything, especially open spaces and would often start shaking out of the anxiety about being watched. Even if there weren't any eyes on him, he would feel like there was some kind of ghostly figure staring at him that would make him want to curl up and hide in a corner or something. Blankets didn't cure his fear of being snatched and hurt, so he couldn't simply pretend to make everything disappear under the covers of his baby blue sheets.
Instead, his parents would sit down with him and help him build a sheet fort. They would meticulously move chairs around and position sheets to be held together without falling apart under some pressure. They would carefully set up his pillows in the fort, adding a strand of fairy lights on the chair inside of the fort as a way to provide him some dim and calming light. The forts that his parents built for him were a miniature sanctuary for him that kept him safe from prying eyes and allowed him to relax enough to drifting off into a slow and heavy slumber. If sheet forts were the only way to make Percival safe in his own home, his parents would dutifully help him build a fort as many times as he needed and when it was needed. [247W]

Day 1
Username: Ravendarus
Cow: Zebra
Prompt: Zebra blinked a bit surprised by the sudden question, "Well... I grew up not far from the place I work at now, but the good news is that I still live there." She said, "It's a good place to grow up. I grew up in a field of tall grass in a small cabin near the forest. There is a beautiful river by the forest where we used to go fishing for crayfish, we used to keep them a tank when we were young and by we I mean me and my friends." She said gently. "We loved to play all day in the river and in the field, we always had to be careful because we could slip and fall or run into snakes in the field." She said. "I have loved that place since I was very young and I never moved out. I was very lucky a friend of mine started a farm near by so we all sort of got together and help him out from time to time." She said gently. "It's really magical walking through the field or the forest at night, there is nothing better then to watch the fireflies dance in summer or the birds in spring." She said, "It's perfect..." She said. "I wouldn't trade it for the world..." She said.

Day 1
Username: DarkestWerewolf
Cow: Aria
Prompt:
Aria was born into a wild herd and was raised that way for the first few years of her life. There were a lot of great times frolicking in the tall grass but there were also harsh times where food was limited and predators lurked about. Life as a feral cow was very interesting and she loved it. The herd travelled and have seen many places. They’ve even came across a part of a forest that has been burned during a wild fire.
However, the herd eventually found a place that they started to settle down into. The was a barn that started off with a couple treating it as their vacation home. Only coming and staying for a few months before leaving. They would feed the cows and watch the herd. However, over time, they decided to stay there permanently and hired in a few hands to get things in shape. They built a bigger house, expanded the barn and pasture size, even bringing in some poultry and growing their own vegetables. By then, Aria and her herd had decided that staying around them would be ideal. They were allowed into a fenced pasture to stay for the night and by day, someone would come by and open up the pasture for them to leave if they want. They were allowed to come and go as they pleased and the herd was extremely happy. Most of the time, the herd would go out to graze before coming back into the pasture and rest. The fence helped to keep the herd safe at night and they didn’t have to worry about predator attacks. Aria and a few others eventually grew close to the helpers and owners, allowing them to hand-feed and stroke her.
While life out in the open had been exciting and fun, Aria loves the comfort, warmth and safety of knowing that there’s a place she can return to and call home.

Day 1
Username: Winter Shores
Cow: Antheia
Prompt: Antheia sat there staring off into space. Had she really forgotten where she grew up or was her mind just fogged? She closed her eyes and took soft deep breaths. She could honestly remember it vividly even though there was never really “one place” when she was growing up. It was always something new and different with her mom and she enjoyed it a lot. When she was younger she never really understood why they always moved around a lot but growing up and having the ability to be somewhere safe made her understood. She could remember the day when her mom took her to the meadows. Just big open fields full of beautiful flowers, all different shapes, sizes, and colors. She lit up on the inside remembering it all, to this day it was one of her favorite places to be. Sure it wasn’t that exact meadow but on the ranch there was for sure a few of them. But, her and her mother would bounce around in the fields and chase each other, taking small breaks in between so her mom could rest. During the night she would sleep close to her mom, hoping one day she could be protecting her mom instead of the other way around. They would only stay for a few days before moving along. Antheia always questioned how her mom knew about all these cool places. Was it from experience? Or was she just wondering where her legs took her?
