First Meeting

Cake rolled over in bed, groaning lightly as he was pulled into consciousness by the light pouring into his room. He mumbled something to the empty side of the bed as his eyes cracked open. It was morning? Oh. And just like that the memories of the previous night came flooding back, Miana being out of town, Rossi going into labor, getting up every half an hour to go check on the pregnant queen, Mona shrieking her disapproval at constantly being woken up, the anxious pacing of the blond queen in a nearby stall. He rolled out of bed and quickly made his way to the barn. He speed walked over to the black and brown queen's stall, peaking inside. He saw a giant lump of sleeping Rossi, but no ritten. For more than one reason, he hoped nothing was wrong. He didn't know this farm stuff, and he really didn't want to have to call Miana's brother to come help. He opened the stall door, speaking a soft greeting to the skepluvi as he stepped in. Rossi lifted his head, giving a sleepy blink and a light purr of a greeting. Slowly, he stretched himself out and raised himself to his feet, approaching his human for pets and scratches. As he did so, Cake noticed something on the bedding where Rossi had been laying. At first he thought it was just a pile of bedding piled up, the dim lighting too dark to make out much of a shape or color, but then it began to move. It gave a small trill and he saw Rossi pause before turning around and heading back to the small bundle on the ground, nuzzling and cooing. Cake watched as the smaller form slowly got up, legs a bit wobbly, following Rossi as he returned to the human man, still eager for his morning pets and scratches. Cake was happy to oblige as he focused on the smaller skepluvi lingering near the queen's legs, blinking sleepily, but obviously curious about the new creature in their space. After a few minutes of petting Rossi, Cake ran his hand down the skepluvi's neck, down his side as he slowly stepped towards the ritten. He kneeled slowly, reaching out a hand palm up for the child to sniff. He waited patiently while the small skepluvi gave the hand a once over before stepping forward and going straight for his hair, sniffing with fervor and taking little curious nibbles on it. The man gently placed his hands on the ritten and stroked the soft, albeit it dirty, fur. After what he assumed to be ten minutes of petting and loving on the new baby while Rossi happily munched on some cactus, sounds came from the neighboring stall. He got up slowly, not wanting to spook his new ritten friend, and headed to the stall of the blond skepluvi. Aponi stared at him through the bars of her stall door, lifting and lowering her foot repeatedly as she gave a soft whine. Cake had the foresight to step aside as he opened the stall door, which was probably for the best considering that Aponi bulldozed out of it like a skepluvi on fire, barely sparing him a glance as she beelined for, and then into, Rossi's stall. He stepped infront of Rossi's stall once more and watched the pair of skepluvia's eagerly grooming eachother, seeming almost frantic. After a moment though, the grooming ceased and Aponi shifted her attention away from her partner and to the ritten, beginning to gently groom the ritten while chittering contently. Cake couldn't deny the smile that was spreading across his face as he watched Aponi lower herself to the ground and curl around the ritten, allowing it to nestle into her fur, followed by Rossi lying on the other side, sandwiching the ritten between the proud new parents. He took a moment to compose himself before heading back to the house, ready to start the rest of the day and inform his wife of their new ritten.
