Daffy's Great Duck Hunt - Day 7 Open!

As you find yourself wandering around the farmer's market, admiring the goods for sale, suddenly, you hear an incredible clamor! Your attention turns to a brown heifer, sopping wet and struggling to carry a handful of noisy ducks, making her way out of the little duck pond at the center of the market. How odd... You watch her trudge back to a shoddy booth with a hastily built pen taking up more room than the booth itself, plopping the ducks down inside. It appears as though one of the ducks has already taken a liking to her, and is somehow comfortably perched atop her head. She looks up as she places the last duck in the pen and your eyes lock with hers. You're so intrigued by the strange nature of what you've just witnessed that you decide to step closer and speak with the eccentric heifer.

"Well hi there, my name is Daffodil! Nice to meet ya!"

"Weโ€™ve been getting a lot of reports lately of too many
people feeding the ducks in our lovely pond here at the
farmerโ€™s market! For their safety and the safety of all
Buttermilks, weโ€™re temporarily moving them to this little
makeshift corral behind my booth until we can put up the
proper signage warning everyone not to feed the wildlife.
I love to swim, so I was able to jump in and round up most
of the ducks, but thereโ€™s one that just keeps on giving me
trouble! I think I need some extra hands (and brains) to
finally catch the last duck. Are you able to help me?"

Welcome to the Daffyโ€™s Great Duck Hunt booth! Over the course of the event, there will be one prompt per day about your Buttermilk assisting Daffy in reigning in this one last wacky duck. If you do not have a Buttermilk of your own, you can use Bluebell or Buttercup for the prompts instead! Please use the same cow for each of your prompts. Prompts should be a minimum of 150 words, but there is no maximum. If you choose, you may also create an art piece for this booth! The word minimum will drop to 50 words in order to explain and develop what is occurring within the art youโ€™ve made. Art should be clean lined and colored please.

Prompts will update around 10:00PM EDT. For Day 1, the prompt will be left open until it has been up for 24 hours, but all other prompts will follow this schedule. Please do not post new forms or edit forms for previous rounds once the new round has started. Each completed prompt will earn you 6 tokens. Extra tokens may be awarded to those who show a lot of attention to developing their Buttermilks, but this is not guaranteed and will not be a daily occurrence. It is highly encouraged that you participate each day the booth is open, as you never know what may happen if you do!

Todayโ€™s Prompt (Day 7)
โ€œThis darn duck has been giving you a heck of a lot of trouble all week, but itโ€™s finally over. How are you feeling now that itโ€™s time to leave them behind with me? Looking back, did you have fun on this wild goose duck chase, or did you just find it to be a hassle?โ€

Code: Select all
Daffyโ€™s Great Duck Hunt - Day 7
Username:
Buttermilk: (please provide a link)
Prompt:
Word Count:

Previous Prompts
Day 1: โ€œThat dastardly duck has made a run for it! Heโ€™s left the duck pond and is now tearing through the crowded farmers market! Are you ok to handle the large crowds? Are you able to ask around if anyone has seen the duck? Tell me how you plan to navigate this crowd to find the duck today!โ€
Day 2: โ€œThis duck is still nowhere to be found. When everyone arrived at the farmerโ€™s market this morning, they find that several booths have been chewed up, partially destroyed, or have been left dirty! Thereโ€™s a trail of muddy, webbed footprints and some white feathers indicating just who the culprit is. Do you stay behind to help repair the damaged or dirty booths, or do continue on your search for this pesky duck? What made you choose this course of action?โ€
Day 3: โ€œYesterday, the duck muddied up several booths. Despite our warnings, one of the farmers left his produce at the market covered overnight, hoping he would return ready to sell some fruits and veggies today. However, the duck has struck again, and many fruits and veggies have been half eaten. Maybe you could use some of these fruit and veggies to lure the duck over? How would you convince this farmer to let you borrow some produce? What fruits or veggies would you want to take and why? How will you use the food to try and trick the duck?โ€
โ€œDay 4 and still no sign of this duck. How did he get to be so evasive??? He canโ€™t even fly very well! UGH! How are you handling being seemingly outsmarted by a duck? Are you growing more and more frustrated with every day the duck continues to evade capture, or are you able to laugh it off?โ€
Day 5: โ€œOk, we really need to catch this duck and put an end to his rampage. What is your new plan to catch the duck now that weโ€™ve had a day to calm down and think things through? Will you be crafty about it, or very obvious and uncomplicated? Why do you choose the plan you did to catch the duck?โ€œ
Day 6: โ€œCould it be?!?!? It appears that whatever you did was a success! The last rouge duck has finally been caught!!!! Now that you managed to capture it, how do you plan on escorting it back here to me and the makeshift duck pen behind the booth? How are you feeling now that youโ€™ve caught the duck?โ€

    Daffyโ€™s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
    Username: acadicus
    Buttermilk: Disney
Prompt: "Oh, this little quacker ain't nothin' on me!" Disney exclaimed when she heard about the mischievous duck. Big crowds were completely fine with the small yet determined heifer. Heck, her name was Disney; you couldn't expect any less. "I'm gonna get that duck faster than a blink of an eye. If I need to, I can ask others, but honestly, I wouldn't put it past them to not even see that duck a-waddling on past. Kids these days are so caught up in their business that sometimes they forget to look down!"
Coming from the countryside, Disney wasn't one to mess around with when it comes to tracking down animals. She had her fair share of time on the critter-chasing block, and she knew what to do with a rogue duck or two.
"Food. Food'll be sure to do it for that bird. He'll be back home in no time, don't you worry."

Re: Daffy's Great Duck Hunt - Day 1 Open!

Postby Venatici » Mon Apr 13, 2020 3:29 pm

      Daffyโ€™s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
      Username: Morghettio
      Buttermilk: The Holy Trinity
Prompt: 1 - โ€œThat dastardly duck has made a run for it! Heโ€™s left the duck pond and is now tearing through the crowded farmers market! Are you ok to handle the large crowds? Are you able to ask around if anyone has seen the duck? Tell me how you plan to navigate this crowd to find the duck today!โ€
Word Count: When Morgan heard about this dilemma, he barely even thought about what he needed to do. Almost on instinct, Morgan hatched a plan on how to solve this problem.
Handling large crowds was not a problem... finding a tiny, teeny duck in an area where the main obstacle is just the amount of people did cause a problem, though.

After waiting a few minutes, including pestering everyone around the farmer's market in that time, Morgan comes out behind a stall donning a... duck suit? God did he look funny. He then bent over a eating competition's table, scribbling with pens on notebook paper. The notebook paper wrote, in very poorly scrabbled letters that looked like glyphs. "Did you see a loose duck? Please notify a grounds attendant, or find the man in a duck suit!" While he could not see that great at eye level, Morgan readily was able to visualize the chuckles that his husband, Wulfe, was not all that subtle about. Figures. Morgan was very, very sure that the other young man had his phone out, taking photos as if Morgan would disappear into thin air.

(Of course, that did not stop Morgan's husband Wulfe from dutifully following this man around, throwing duck feed... and, maybe now and then, eating a handful of the duck feed even when people were looking right at him).

Even giving a characteristic duck waddle, Morgan started walking and honking around the farmers market. If he was loud enough, it startled some farmer's market goers into stopping and looking in awe at the "duck man". The "duck man" ran into more children than he did ducks in this costume, but he greeted everyone with a smile and with a helping hand, almost as if he worked here. To him, it felt natural: while finding the duck would take longer than it might take for literally... LITERALLY anyone else... Morgan made sure everyone attending had their needs taken care of. Was there a lost child? Morgan helped them find their parents. Did someone need directions? He personally walked them there.

So, it was in all likelihood, that the duck would have been the last person Morgan found in this duck suit. Morgan was glad, though, because staying in that duck suit at least allowed the duck to want to go near him. He figured that being a big duck would make the little, genuine duck, want to flock towards him. Such a little creation would want to find comfort, and being in a big market would probably scare them! So, Morgan spent the rest of his time trying to hunt down the little fellow, to bring him home: and, of course, not without dragging his husband everywhere he went!

    Daffyโ€™s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
    Username: Knickknacks
    Buttermilk: Logan
    Prompt:
"Okay with a crowd? Pfft, yeah. This'll be no problem- I'll have that duck tracked down for you in no time!" Logan seemed to be brimming with confidence, almost bouncing as she surveyed the swarming crowd at the farmer's market for a telltale flash of feathers. It was evident that she viewed Daffodil's request for help as something of a challenge, like she was"I'lll go looking- ask around, maybe, but it really is quite loud around here- eh, worst case scenario I can always give a shout to those around me- that ought to get their attention!" Here Logan grinned crookedly, relishing the thought.

"Really, though- don't worry about me. Navigating this crowd can't be any worse than hiking, can it? Picking your way along a path- same principle, really, but the sides of the path are moving about, you know?"

You're not quite sure you follow her logic, but she certainly seems enthusiastic about this whole duck-hunting proposition.

Day 1

Postby yeena » Mon Apr 13, 2020 3:42 pm

    Daffyโ€™s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
    Username: ceance

    Buttermilk: Evangeline
Prompt: For such a noble and feminine name, some would assume that Evangeline came from an extremely wealthy family and that she was a very dainty woman that was pleasant and well-mannered. In reality, Lee came from a farm and she was raised in hay, dust and mud. She was raised on rounding up cattle and tripping goats. A duck would be nothing for her. Lee isn't shy to push through to where she needs to be and while she might politely nod at people and excuse herself as every turn, she still has a mission to get done with.
Lee doesn't do anything extravagant or extra for the sake of her own dignity and, while she is capable of doing many things, embarrassing herself on purpose isn't one of those things. Instead she asks those around her for advice and if they've seen a young male mallard duck running rampant, possibly trying to trip them up to snatch their food when they fall.

Daffyโ€™s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
Username: Ravendarus
Buttermilk: Magpie
Prompt: Day 1
Magpie laughed softly as she waved her hand, "A Dastardly Duck you say?" She asked, "Easy as pie to catch! But what's in it for me? Tokens you say? Fine I guess I'll lend a hand." She grinned as she looked towards the crowds. "It's easy first I will scan the area, look for any distraught customers because they are mostly like to have seen it. Look for a trail of clues, ducks drop feathers here and there. I'll be easy to find them and follow." She said, "If push comes to shove I will climb as high as I can get it be it roof or tree and look around for it. Can't be to hard." She said, "Or when in doubt they say the best course of action is to just dive in!" Magpie laughed before she looked towards the crowds and focused, she scanned the area before she took off swiftly, "I'll find that duck don't you worry!" She called back.

Daffyโ€™s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
Username: drift.
Buttermilk: Lori
Prompt:
"Ack-! A-are you sure? Through all of those people?" the grey and white heifer peered around Daffodil,
her tail flicking nervously behind her. Poor Lori was a bit of a shy cow, despite her inquisitve nature,
and the bustling, daunting market made her legs quiver.
"No- no ! I can go find him. I'll be right back." she assured the booth owner, swallowing the growing anxiety
and taking a nervous step towards the center of the noise. Lori glanced around, under and over both cows
and bulls alike as she struggled to locate the small white bird. Please come out little guy, you might get hurt out
here. Her frustrated thoughts were distracting her from the terribley awkward moments of shuffling passed irritated
shoppers. Oh please little ducky- where are you. The soft heifer had fallen deep into concentration, her brows knitted
together in a focused scowl, so when someone tapped her on the shoulder she flinched and squeaked out "Ee!"

"O-oh no! I'm so so very sorry!" the bull's face was twisted with worry, and Lori immidiately felt sorry for
causing him such panic. "It's alright, I was just deep in thought," she murmured, her eyes still wide and heart
thumping loudly in her ears. "It's just that you looked like you had lost something- and - well I suppose I may
have something for you back at my booth. With a small nod and her face flushed red Lori followed the bull back
to a quaint wooden stand heavily cluttered with Goat's Milk products. But, despite her curiosity, a small 'quack'
from behind the counter piqued her interest and she peered around to find Daffodils runaway duck nestled happily
in a crate of goat kids, grooming it's beak through their fur as they all snoozed in one big pile.

Postby Winter Shores » Mon Apr 13, 2020 4:24 pm

Daffyโ€™s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
Username:Winter Shores
Buttermilk: Antheia
Prompt: Antheia looked at Daffodil with awe as she asked her to catch the duck that seemed to escape the clutches of her hand. Had Daffy really entrusted someone she barely knew with the task of catching the rouge duck? She nodded her head, โ€œThe farmers market you say? This will be easy! Crowds are never a problem, maybe they can help me!โ€
Antheia turned around quickly and dashed off into the crowd eager to tame the wild duck and get it back to Daffy as soon as she could. She tried not to push people around as she made her way through the crowd looking for any signs of the duck. Growing up she found out easily how to track other animals and figure out if she was being hunted so this should be a breeze for her, right? She kept her eyes towards the ground knowing well enough the duck was small and could easily make its way in between other cows. She was so focused that when she bumped into someone she forgot to apologize which made her seem rude, but in fact she was not. She was invested in a task given to her. As she kept her eyes down she saw something white, possibly a duck feather! Quickly she ran over and looked at it closely, upon inspection it was a ducks feather. She hoped it had been the rouge duck's feather, it would hopefully give her a clue that maybe he was still in that area of the farmers market. She looked around, maybe someone had some information on the duck? She softly touched someone's shoulder, โ€œExcuse me miss have you seen a duck around here? It has white feathers.โ€ When asking the heifer she just shook her head and wished her good luck before moving along. Antheia glanced around for more people that looked helpful and when she asked them they just gave her all different types of directions. How could catching one simple duck be this hard?! Maybe one of the booth owners knows...
