Euphorian Thoroughbred #619

Postby hellenistic » Wed Apr 01, 2020 9:25 am

Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings. Everything else about the sub-type is the same. Long, strong legs, a powerful hind, and great speed. Their eyes are soft and the breed is incredibly smart, if not a bit goofy. They love kids and have the rare ability to excel in any discipline. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Some of these horses will come with a little training already, and will have their new discipline already determined. Although others you’ll get to pick how they move forwards!

So prettyyyyyy <3

Username;;Ghouly_
Show Name: Shamans Brave Warrior
Barn Name:Apache
Gender: Stallion
Age:4 years 6 months
Height:15.3hh
Halter:something like this would be really nice on him :3 but if it's too complex simply do whatever u want for the Halter
Discipline:Trail Horse / Cross Country
Competition:Apache is only 4 years old, but already he has seen many hardships in his short life. Most people call him a spooker or a terrible mount, that u can't walk him because he will step on ur feet or how he always acts in a nervous manners and panics over the smallest things, even just a loose pebble behind him or something catching the corner of his eye. The truth is, he's always so nervous due to the past few years of Bad luck that he has had.

His mother died a day after birth and from then he was bottle fed, so human contact was never an issue, but then his owner sold him early and to a horrible home where he suffered, before it was brought down by a natural disaster and he was one of the lucky few horses to survive mostly because of his small underfed size allowing him to escape under the toppled barn door to freedom. He was on the run for most of the day before running into the front of a car but only slightly hurting his knee, but was caught and taken to a better place where he healed.

He thought his early hardships were over, but instead he got mercilessly bullied by three stallions at the new place, they would chase and bite him and it got so bad that he stopped eating or grazing and became ill, he was lethargic and had to be put in solitary. This caused his anxiety to only worsen and he became fearful of other horses, he was afraid he would never be accepted and that there was something wrong with him, that he was cursed. He eventually found a nice rider who looked after him and helped him, but once again lady luck was not in his side.

One day he had gotten spooked by a panicked deer that crossed in front of him after crashing out of the bushes and almost ran into the Stallion, but he had reared and his young rider had not been able to react quick enough to stay on and fell. She landed quite horribly and hurt her head, and was taken to the hospital but could never ride again and so she was kept away from the stables and he was branded as cursed. Apache became quite sad and lost and spent most of his days alone, far away from others because he was afraid he would hurt anyone or himself.

One day a new filly arrived at the stable to be fostered, and she was similar to him. She had a hard life and wasn't too social, but she clicked with him almost immediately. Their young blossoming romance that developed was cut short when she was stolen from the paddocks one night when the barns were set on fire and he was heartbroken after that, and so he was once again sold and sold off after that.

He just wants to have a happy simple life away from pain or panic. When others ask him why he's so distant or afraid all the time he can't answer, he worries himself relentlessly, and doesn't sleep too well at night. He will spook at anything and constantly worries about being stolen or attacked by a loose dog in the paddocks or falling and hurting his knee and being forgotten and left behind, he paces along fences almost constantly when not with any human companions, and is always I've r protective of them. He worries for their safety because of his own nervousness and can often make blunders and mistakes, and gets frustrated at himself and his rotten luck.

He's only a 4 year old and yet his life has been nothing but misery and worry, so when he finally came to a loving home his anxiety almost tripled. He was immediately sure it would go wrong or he would do something to be given away or hurt someone and worries now more than ever despite the other horses and humans best efforts to keep him calm and reassure him.

He is nervous because he is scared that his new start to life will once again be stolen from him by the cruel hand of fate.

Show Name: AA's Never Tickle A Sleeping Dragon
    Barn Name: Draco
    Gender: Stallion
    Age: 5 years
    Height: 18hh
Halter: emerald green with black hardware
    Discipline: show jumping

"𝑶𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒆, 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒕𝒉𝒔..."

This is the story of Draco, born during a mid-July night, the moon illuminated the little prodigal foal, son of two great champions, his parents were both world-famous racehorses and people expected a lot from him. The day after the birth some buyers and jockeys had already gone to see him, photos were taken and published in the most famous horse sites, the prodigal foal was born and within a few years -the media said- he would also become a great racehorse like his parents.
His mother and the other horses quickly realized that the predictions were actually not accurate. While growing up young Draco was not at all like his parents, he hated running but he loved jumping over rocks and fences. Even his trainer realized this when he started training him, he had a few years of life and little desire to run, despite the strength of the young horse he could not finish a running lap in a decent time. He also got distracted very easily, looked around, played and jumped.

-this horse will not be a race horse-
Said the trainer after yet another useless lesson, the owner did not know how to react, all his aspirations went shattered and the media were disappointed and criticized the whole ranch.

Draco initially tried not to give weight to the criticisms but this became increasingly difficult with the passage of time, the other horses made fun of him and his parents were extremely disappointed. The stallion felt insecure and knew that no one accepted him for what he was, just because he loved jumping rather than running didn't mean he didn't deserve affection and attention.

To increase even more his fears and his insecurities were some running races that he was forced to do, he ended last and became sad and fearful of anything, he spent the day alone on the sidelines, he didn't even want to get out of his stable some days, it was difficult to bear the burden of being a disappointment for everyone.

One day at the ranch a couple of jockeys with a very close-knit air arrived, they asked to see Draco, everyone knew his story and the owner simply said that he could not be a race horse and also lately he didn't even seem to get along with the other horses.
They insisted and took him to their reserve for animals including horses.

Over time they managed to gain his trust, they wanted to help the young horse gain the self-confidence he had lost.
-you have to believe in yourself-
Was the phrase that his new owners repeated to him at any time of the day. It was certainly difficult for him after all he had gone through but he hoped he could do it.
When it was time to train for the first time he feared he was dealing with running again but when he realized that his new jockeys had more in mind his mood changed. He started training for show jumping, jumping obstacles was what he loved to do more than anything, he felt free, he seemed to fly.

From that day he began to change, Draco became happy and serene, made friends with other horses and other animals and although he still has to work on his confidence, every time he doubts himself he thinks about the phrase that his new owners always repeat. Like a mantra, the phrase resonates in his head when he feels insecure and thanks to those words he can calm down and overcome that insecurity.

"...𝒊𝒕 𝒏𝒆𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖."

Oh, Pluto? Ah, I figured you'd want to know about him. He's one of our rescues, from a situation we got involved in a few years back. Word was going around about some malnourished and improperly cared for horses on a little farm up closer to the mountains, and we got called to see about retrieving them. The day we went up there was pretty cloudy and chilly, but that tends to be normal around here until the middle of summer, y'know? We pulled up the driveway and it was all grown over, the grass in the tiny little pasture was almost taller than the fence itself. We searched the property a bit, but found no sign of anyone still living there. The doors to the house were barred shut, the place had basically been abandoned. We found all of the horses cooped up in the barn. No stalls, just an open barn with 3 horses locked up inside. No food, no water, barely any light.

We had no idea who owned the property and couldn't do much legally to get the horses out of there, so, we waited. We went back to our property and brought our two trailers, they're only 2-horse trailers, mind you, and went back once it started getting dark.
The wind had picked up and it was raining a bit, and we could tell a storm was coming, so we had to move quickly. We managed to get the two loaded up into the first trailer, and my partner went ahead and took them back to Oakridge, but Pluto was already terrified. The storm had started, and every time the thunder boomed, he spooked even more. You could tell he wasn't used to being in the trailer, and he didn't trust me in the slightest. I finally managed to get him inside and started following my partner back to the farm, but he was quite a ways ahead of me.

I hadn't even been driving for more than 10 minutes and Pluto was all over the place back in the trailer, kicking and pacing and making the trailer sway. The storm had gotten pretty bad, and it was pitch black outside, which didn't help much either. We came up to a curve in the road, about 5 miles away from the farm, when lightning struck right by the road. He freaked out and shifted the weight of the trailer so hard that my tires spun out, and we went straight off the road. Wrecked head-on into a tree just down off the ditch. Just a couple bumps and bruises, but the wreck added so much more trauma to the poor guy. We don't get good weather as it is, and most storms still make him pretty antsy, but he does a lot better with the trailer now. He still doesn't have much trust in anyone who hasn't been around him very much, unless it's kids, which he's never seemed to have a problem with.

We got really lucky that no one was hurt, but man, we could've done without that wreck. He was difficult enough to work with due to his life before we got him, and the trauma from the wreck didn't make it any easier. But hey, we all grow, right? He's a great horse now, been winning a lot of rodeos in the area. What about you though, partner? What makes you so nervous?

Show Name: Rocky Mountain Phantom
Barn Name: Jasper
Gender: Stallion
Age: 4 years
Height: 16.3 hh
Halter: Coral
Discipline: Show Hunter
Competition:
Jasper is a huge bundle of nerves and extremely insecure. In many ways, he is just like a prepubescent middle schooler. We all remember those years, right? Everything was just so awkward and we were scared of the simplest things that really do not matter. Well first off, he is extremely insecure about the way he eats. He hates eating in front of other horses, leading to him having to be fed alone and away from any other horse. If given feed where he can see a horse, he will only pick around the food and shy away. This occurs when grazing too. Jasper tends to graze away from the herd, out of sight from the other horses. If the herd moves too close to him, he is more than happy to give up his grazing space and migrate to a more isolated patch of grass.

Jasper is nervous and shy about horses in general. As a foal, he always stayed close to his mamma. You could say they were attached to the hip. Wherever mom went, Jasper was right on her heals. Because of this, Jasper grew up shy and some could even say lonely. With his mother off with the older, retired horses, he was forced to make new friends. Whenever other foals asked him to play, he would be hesitant. Slowly but surely, he gained one or two other horses that gave him companionship. Still, his insecurities get the best of him.

However, this applies to when he got older. Whenever one of the other stallions wants to race, Jasper timidly looks at his hooves, scared that he might embarrassment himself; especially in front of the females. Oh the mares! He gets the most timid when being seen by one, let alone talking to one. Remember how I said he reminded me of a middle schooler? Well this is exactly why. He freezes when mares walk by and watches in awe as other stallions talk so easily to them. “Don’t they get nervous?” he might ask.

Although Jasper will never admit it, he is insecure about his coat color. His mamma always told him that being a blue roan was so dashing and handsome; nothing to be ashamed of at the least. However, after seeing some of his stablemate’s glossy coats, he gets major anxiety when by them. He always wished he did not have spots, regardless of the multiple compliments he gets about them.

Now that we have talked about his major anxiety and insecurities, let me talk about what relieves them. Every anxious horse needs an outlet to let out that energy. For Jasper, its show hunting. I know what you might be thinking “That type of eventing is judged on good form, perfection, and discipline! How could that ease a ball of nerves?” Well simply put; his rider gives him the confidence. Before every show, she grooms him and compliments his coat. She tells him oh how much of a handsome boy he is, rubbing his nose. He has a special bond with her and her touch makes everything disappear. When she is riding him, he forgets about everything and excels at his discipline. He has won multiple competitions because of this.

His insecurities are plentiful and anxiety through the roof. And yes his nerves may get the best of him when he is at the stable, but when he is out competing and with his girl, he becomes the most elegant, showstopping, amazing stallion you have seen.

”Sometimes you just need a little reassurance”

Show Name: AH Ocean Eyes
Barn Name: Isaac
Gender: Stallion
Age: 7
Height: 16.2 hh
Halter: Yellow w/ silver hardware
Discipline: Dressage
Competition:

(This is based off of a real story I was included in.)

Isaac was young and carefree. He is always happy and doesn't let small things get him down. Even the bigger issues in life cannot slow him down. When he was only a colt, he had a twin sister. His mother was weak and tired from caring for them, and there was a low chance of them surviving without a nurse mare, but due to unknown reasons, there were not any nurse mares available. So their best bet was to keep their mother going. And for a while, it worked. Isaac and his sister were healthy and happy, they would play and sleep together, their mother slowly got stronger every day, things were looking up for the three horses. All was right for them, life was slowly working itself out.

Everything was progressing well when Isaac's sister grew ill. She was sick and it did not look like she would make it. It took a long time, but she recovered, and that was it, right? His sister again grew ill, this time it was harder. She worked her hardest to make it, but his sister did not survive it this time. Isaac did not understand. One day he went to sleep and she was there, then he woke up and she was gone, she did not come back. Isaac never fully understood, but all he knew was that she was not going to come back home. He knew her friends were sad, but he was not sure why.

His sister ended up dying of an unknown illness. She was not able to survive off what she was given, and there was not enough time to save her in the end. Her friends were sad she was gone, yet Isaac never understood she had died, and thought she was just gone. Since then, Isaac has been fine. He does not want to let the past hold him down in the future. Isaac sometimes remembers her, and forgets everything else. He begins to sweat and grow anxious, still not fully understanding what happened. Sometimes he just sits down and thinks about it, other times he stresses over it. But he has done well so far, not allowing it to damage the present.

Isaac doesn't let even the big things drag him down. He does not want to waste a minute of his time worrying, so he does his best to shake off his worries. His owner loves him and he is currently progressing through dressage. He enjoys the discipline and puts work into it. Isaac is doing well, and his rider is proud of him. He is not going to let anything get him down.

Barn Name: Heth
Gender: Stallion
Age: 5yrs
Height: 16hh
Halter: Artist's choice / Whatever fits him best
Discipline: Showjumping
Competition: Heth has never been the kind of horse to be nervous about things. So when he started to act up and show fear, his owners got scared. They thought he might have an injury, but he was in perfect condition. To this day they still don't know what it is. But Heth knows exactly what it is. Maybe a month before this all started happening, Heth lost a good friend of his, a black morgan by the name Sean. He was one of the only horses that could put up with his hyper and sometimes reckless behavior. In the middle of a lesson, Heth swore he saw Sean in the corner of the arena. He was confused at first but continued the course. That's until Sean had walked a bit then disappeared into thin air. This ended up causing Heth to refuse a jump and knock his rider off. His brain was rushing with a million thoughts. What had he just witnessed? Heth constantly saw Sean, making him uneasy and confused about why his deceased friend was there. He started to get used to it but he hated it when he disappeared, it was one very confusing, and the calming aura Seth brought would fade. Heth has tried to tell others what he saw but they never believed him, causing him to think he was crazy. But he isn't, Seth is watching his friend's life continued, every single step of the way.

Wipe was so tired when I started this
Blue had a normal life till he turned 4 and was retired from racing. That is when things started to get a little blurry at about 15 feet. At first Blue did not notice, but then one day while out in the pasture. A random cat popped up out of nowhere, this frightened poor Blue so much that he reared up in fright. For a few months after that Blue kept complaining to his best mate that everyone and everything was sneaking up on him. This is when his heard mate in exacerbation suggested that maybe not everyone and everything was out to get him but that he was having trouble seeing. This made Blue think long and hard, he started paying attention to how far he could see. Blue started to notice that very slowly things got fuzzy at a distance that things used to be clear. Thankfully it seemed to slow down a bit when he turned 5 but he could only see about 10ft around himself. And that plus the fact that he had no idea if the rest of his vision would disappear one day. Made him constantly nervous. Blue seems like a normal horse as long as he is with a trusted human or heard mate. But when left alone or with some one new, he becomes a nervous wreak.
