As explorers have settled into the island and among the native people, both human and horse alike, whispers of trials begin to thrum steadily in conversation. Horses seem excited, more youthful as the days run on, and even Kes, usually stoic and un-moving, is more friendly!

Eventually the natives begin to dress their villages up with captured fireflies, many Vun-Toj coming from their homes in the forest to aid in the decorating tasks. It's a sight to behold for one not from the island, and eventually you spot a post on the Herds-Master's door.

"Forest Trial to begin soon!
All runners and heavers chosen.
Trial begins sundown on the eighth day.
Bring your flags to Kes to enter."

You're left excited and confused, and so seek out Kes, intent on learning more about this Trial.

"You want to know about the Trials?
Well, there are quite a few. Spread throughout the seasons.
Spring we host the Forest Trial, only Aquell and Dyesdale are seen.
Summer is the Cliff Trial, Aquell and Boh-Tot are there.
Fall we have the Plains Trial, on the strongest Dyesdale will be there."

Kes directs her attention to her fireflies for a moment, then back to you with a smile.
"You need a flag? Here. Give it to the Herds-Master when the choosing begins, then back to me.
And good luck, outsider. Choose wisely..."

The Forest Trials have two events!
A race, showcased by Aquell Warmbloods, and a Pulling Competition, showcased by Dyesdale Drafts.
There are only five Aquell and five Dyesdale seen during the events, and all will be raffled off at the conclusion.
To participate in the event, riders are chosen among the people, a colored flag used to identify competitors.

All flag colors will be randomized for those participating!
Once those who wish to join have signed up, colors will be given.
All who participate will be given a choice of their mount for their respective trial.
At the start of each trial, you may choose who you think will win.
You are not restricted to the same horse per race or pull!

• All participants can vote on the winner of the Races and Pulling trials.
• Winning votes count as a bonus ticket for the final raffle.
• There are three events per trial, giving everyone a chance at three extra tickets.
• All trial results are randomized! Results will be posted per event.
• Individuals may only win a single Aquell or Dyesdale from the event at the end.
• At the end of the Trials, a Vun-Toj will be raffled off! Everyone is welcome to join.
• Mounts will be listed below, alongside their personalities.
• Personalities do not play a roll in the event, and they may be kept or changed upon raffle awards.

Kes will randomly award prizes for competitors.
She may feel more generous some days, and will award prizes multiple times a day.
These range from bridles to less common items from her shop.
Each day for the duration of the event, all entrants will be randomized and the top name will receive a prize.
Max of two non-bridle items per individual; bridles can be won without restriction.

Gold Cream Tobiano ♀
She looks sweet, but beware!
She's a nipper, and champs at her bit even as she bunches her hindquarters and just wishes
to get moving! Spirited and feisty, the Herds-Master says she's a good choice for someone
who can keep an eye on her just as much as their surroundings, or else lose their seat.


Silver Buttermilk Buckskin ♀
This mare is a doting friend, and often sticks with the foals and yearlings of the herd.
She doesn't seem like she's fast on her feet, and in fact she seems to take a bit of effort
in order to get moving, but once she's reached a canter she can go all day, or night, long!


Black Tovero ♂
Young and trigger happy, this stud is a blaze of black and white once he's been set loose!
He's hard to catch, and doesn't seem to much like people up in his space, but he has a
a mind that blocks all else out when he's in a race. No one can say for sure whether that
is an entirely good or bad thing, though...


Seal Brown Cream ♂
This stallion is a returning racer! He's getting up there in years, but his bones are just as
spry as his fellow racing stallion. Intelligent and experienced, the Herds-Master says that
even a child could stay on this fellows back while at a full gallop, as he's as attentive to
riders just as much as he is to his path.


Blue Roan Tobiano ♀
She's a calm one at first glance, but her ears are always swiveling, and her tail always swishing.
Despite her dark looks, the Herds-Master claims she's only ever been gentle and affectionate,
but also says she's one to hang tight to, as she's as fast as a startled rabbit!

Flaxen Chestnut Pangare ♀
Quiet and friendly, just as most Dyesdale are, this orange mare
is quite showy! She likes to convey her excitement vocally, too!
Despite her loud personality, she's a good prospect for pulling
even the largest of loads according to the village she comes from.

Seal Brown ♂
He's a bitter old fellow, and not at all a people pleaser.
But he does good work, and he isn't afraid to push himself
further to get toward his goal! He's a favorite from the past
two trials, but the Herds-Master doesn't seem happy with him.

Greying Bay ♂
High-strung for such a large horse, this youthful little
guy is eager and always ready to please those who ask
him to work! He's never participated in a trial before, so
let's hope nerves don't get the better of him!

Palomino Sabino ♀
This light mare is shy, but very reliable, according to the
Herds-Master. She can pull all you ask her to, and doesn't
seem to ever tire until her harness is removed.

Classic Champagne Leopard ♂
This stallions is an attention-seeking demon. He isn't
all that nice, whether it's horse or human, but he does
keep himself contained, especially when he's showing off!
He certainly lives up to his nickname, the Devilish Draft.
