clover’s earliest memories consist of two-legs surrounding him in… awe, perhaps? amazement? who knows, really? he never understood why he was treated so differently, from the two-legs and the other cats. was something wrong with him? he didn’t think so. he felt normal, at least.
his earliest memories were also… warmth. comfort. the smell of milk, and the smell of home. curled up in his mother’s belly, beside his siblings. he knew nothing happier than those moments, when the cold, fleshy hands of two-legs left him alone and he was with his family. that’s all he really wanted, to be with his family. if only that were possible.

he remembered the cold, icy cold feeling of two-leg fingers wrapped around him. the pathetic mewing coming from him and his siblings, and the panicked yowling from his mother. was this his fault? he hoped not. it wasn’t, really, but he didn’t know that.
the cold once again, the hard surface beneath his paws. the sounds of two-legs passing by, watching him as if he were a product on display. he didn’t really understand, of course, who understood the odd hairless creatures? but he was sure he could detect the emotion in their voices… happiness? maybe. curiosity? he’d never know for sure, but he knew that the two-legs were… confused by him.

swept away once again, is that all his life was? being stolen? it seemed so. but this time, something was different. it wasn’t the cold feeling he was so used to. it was… warm. he felt warm again. nothing would ever compare to the warmth from his mother, that warmth that he missed so dearly, but any warmth was better than the cold he got from the two-legs. fresh smells mixed with confusing ones. water, plants, animals. cats?
“you’re okay. it’s all going to be okay now, i promise.” cooed a soft voice, and his eyes fluttered open to a pretty orange and white she-cat. the warmth was back. he felt safe, loved, and most importantly, warm.
