[art i will do later of mel and oran lol] Escaping from all the hustle and bustle stirring the city, you slip away into the surrounding farming fields on the outskirts of town. These newcomers' presence have made quite a ruckus, and they won't stop asking you all these personal questions. Across the way you see a lovely sheep field, nearly empty except for the few sheep that wander around in a small herd and graze at the dewy summer grasses. A perfect place to rest and enjoy some peace and quiet, you consider to yourself. You lay back in the cool grass, soaking up the warm sun of the beautiful day and close your eyes, basking in the glowing relaxation.
You aren't sure how long it takes you, but you wake up startled as something pulls at your hair. Yelping, you open your eyes to see a large black nose hovering over your face. It glistens in the sunlight, and you can feel that its slightly damp when it presses up against your nose. You fly up and throw yourself away, and before you is not indeed a sheep like you originally expected but instead.. a cow? The largest cow you've ever seen! It's huge, easily large enough to carry maybe three other Kalons with no problem! It's mostly white with small black spots around it's back and face, almost like little freckles. Around it's eyes and nose are also black, and despite its large curving horns, its gigantic size, and the shiny ring in its nose, it seems rather docile. It moos gently at you, staring right at you as you lay panicking in the field.
"Oran! Please.. Be nice you big loaf." You hear a voice somewhere behind it, and an unfamiliar Kalon with curved horns and piercing red eyes comes into your view. The cow seems to turn his head towards the voice, and lets out another rumbling and low moo before it wanders off in another direction. "Sorry about that, Oran just really likes strangers. Friendliest bull you'll ever meet, hehe." He offers his hand to you, and helps you up. "Hello, by the way! I'm Melaneus, but that's a mouthful, so you can just call me Mel." He smiles warmly at you, and you shake his hand. He seems friendly and very open to new companions, and that's the only thing keeping you from being freaked out by the glowing red eyes that stare back at you from his skull.
"By the way, are you from the city? I came here with a couple of friends of mine, maybe you've seen our caravans around?" He asks you, the friendly smile still on his face. "I'm actually here for more.. personal reasons, I guess." Mel scratches the back of his head. "You see, I'm not really sure where I'm from. I was brought up as an orphan adopted by two amazingly sweet dads, I love them both so much..." He smiles widely for a moment towards the sky, and it's so precious you think whoever he's talking to might feel the love even from however far away they are. "...But, I'm collecting information about homelands and cultures and things like that, in hopes to find something that clicks with my soul, I guess? I know that kind of sounds crazy but.. I just really like to meet new people and learn about them. Everyone does things differently, you know?" His eyes are aglow with passion and curiousity, and you can see hes being insanely genuine with his words. He leads you back to a little caravan of his own, and offers you a seat which is pulled out next to it. Bags containing books and scrolls are everywhere, and tack only large enough to fit the bull you saw earlier lays across the ground in small piles. Does he.. ride that thing? You couldn't even imagine how scary that must be.
Mel pulls out a small inkwell and flips to what looks to be an empty page in a book. "So, why don't you tell me about your home? If you don't mind, of course. I'm sure you come from a really beautiful place, I'd love to know about it!" His eyes sparkle with intrigue and he gets his quill ready.
Tell Mel what your Kalon's home is like! It can be their actual home they live in, or as general as the universe you have your Kalon in. Do they live in a medieval setting, or a modern one? Is there any crazy aliens or pirates or bloodsucking six legged cats that run the government? Setting and surroundings are important when thinking of your character development, and world building can be one of the most fun and rewarding parts in the making of a story!
(word limit: up to 1000 words. you do not have to use all of them! this is just in case u wanna go ham like me lol)
Mel also hands you some beautifully crafted paint brushes and pigments in jars, in case you want to draw it out for him.
(art must be at least a clear sketch. only one piece is allowed, so no comics or gifs!)

CharismaCharisma is a simple girl living a normal life. Well if you consider owning and living in your own candy store normal.
Growing up she grew a love for making candy, she didn't want to be like every other kid who baked or cooked. No, she wanted to be able to make Taffy..Taffy of all flavors.
And when word got around that there was a young girl with amazing taffy she quickly became the talk of the town and then the whole state. Not enough supply and too much demand for a simple girl working from home caused her to save up and buy her own two story building downtown.
Her small taffy shop was colored a bright pink, with huge windows lining the front so you could see inside and look at all the candy options. A large, golden sign hung in the center above the door that read "Taffy-licious" in cute pink and green bubble font. The inside was surprisingly spacious, with two counters in an L shape in the back corner of the room. The rest of the room was full of barrels with tiny individually wrapped taffy pieces of all flavors inside them. There was small cute, pink plastic bags in 3 sizes with zip ties hanging in a few places for people to fill them up with candy. And in the very back of the room, behind one of the counters there was a small door that led up some stairs into Charismas small little house.
Her "House" was actually a very tiny little 2 room space with a small mini kitchen and a living space being in the front room. The bathroom was in the other room, decked out in white marble and hints of pink. everything was relatively put together and simple except for her bed. Her bed was in the far corner in the other room, adjacent to the kitchen area. On her bed were several notebooks and pens with little notes written on them and about 10 pillows, most of them smaller sized. Candy wrappers were thrown about on the sheets and a small pack of her taffy lay sitting on the edge of the bed. Her home was very small and homey but she loved it so much since she got to be so close to her job every day.
Her warehouse where most of the candy got made was located across town and it too served as almost a second home to her. She loved hanging out there and helping out when she had no shifts. It was nice that after all these years she still loved doing what she does so much. Always wanting to be around the action and have a say in every little thing in person.

The cowboy so gently patted the bull's face before watching Oran wander off. "Home is a lot of places" He explains, thinking about the cities he's wandered through, the lone nights with just a tent out in the desert under the stars. With the cold night chill and the hot morning sun. He pauses to think about this, but he isn't sure he'd call any one location 'home'. "It's more a feeling, I guess." He watches Oran in the distance and brushes a stray strand of hair back. He can never seem to get all of it pulled back into a ponytail.
I need a haircut Roy thinks to himself, but lets the thought pass by.
"I grew up in a small town out west. It probably had a real name used by travelers, but we just called it Gila, for the lizards around nearby. Don't know if I'd call it home." Roy takes his hat off and leans back in the grass, focuses on the way it feels against his hands. "It's more just... How it felt out there. Like nothing in the world mattered. Everyone around you was a friend and time didn't really mean nothin'. You'd go to bed and wake up with the chickens, collect their eggs and make breakfast. Maybe wonder down to Old Miss Yancey's house and trade her a dozen eggs for some of her special stew. Best I ever had, and ever will have, I swear she put her soul in it."
Leroy smiles a little, a rare sight on a face as old and worn as his. "Home travels with you, wherever you go. Its not written for me to ever return to Gila, but it's with me. I got a new town now that I look out for. And that's home too. The people are nice and I got people there that care about me." Roy sits up a bit and looks towards the clouds. "I reckon home is wherever you don't mind hanging your hat up at the end of the day."

"m-my house?', she stuttered, confused why someone would be asking about her house.
after a reassuring nod aria gulped down her hesitance and smiled,"it's-- small and tidy i guess? i live on the edge of town in a tiny two bedroom house." she cast her eyes up at the sky, thinking. "i haven't mowed the lawn in a while so it probably looks a little unkempt honestly. there's this huge willow tree sitting in my front yard that i put cat food under for the strays around my place. they keep out the rodents, which is a blessing. my gardening skills aren't up to par with nature, but at least nature isn't trying to steal my crops." she smiled, thinking about a few of the silly names she'd given some of them before continuing. "the first room you walk into would be my living room, i have this really nice day bed i use as my couch with some pillows and a cute blanket. i have this rug that my friend made for me in return for some cake for an event of hers that covers most of the floor. there's a bay window with a ton of little arts and crafts that are drying sitting on the ledge too, but i'd say the room is mostly filled with plants and a few bookcases." She giggled, remembering all the dusty books that she'd been neglecting for a while. "then there's my kitchen, it's pretty small but i think i decorated it well. the cabinets have lots of little star stickers on them from the kids at work offering me their stickers-- and my fridge has a few art pieces too. i wanna say it's clean but there's probably some flour on the floor or a rolling pin sitting with the pans. there's a little vase of these really cute pink roses sitting next to my microwave oven from the co-owner of my candy store." she thought for a second more before quickly adding,"oh, most of the appliances in my kitchen match-- it's all this really nice baby blue and black." the kalon let out a hum as she got lost in her own thoughts once again before piping back up,"the guest bedroom is kind of bland in my opinion, but i've been adding art to the walls so it isn't so miserable. i bought this really nice dark bed spread and some matching furniture last year, so at least it's put together. my own room, on the other hand, is a little messy right now. i've got lots of papers laying on my dresser because it's tax season and all-- i was originally going for a black and gold color scheme for the room but it got all sorts of messed up when i bought my night sky comforter. it's a really nice weighted blanket so i fall asleep in a flash too. theres also my cat mint plant, but i'm kinda struggling to keep that one alive." she giggled once again before continuing," uhm there's another rug from my friend and some silly motivational poster taped to the back of the door too." she smiled warmly at the kalon she'd run into, considering her explanation of her house complete. it seemed that she either forgot or just left out her bathroom, though honestly from the enthusiasm that had exploded out of her-- it was probably the former of the two.

"I don't really come from anywhere," Max looks down at his hands, picking at a hangnail, "and I don't consider any one place home, you know? I have family, and I consider wherever they are home."
He thinks about what he considers home and realizes it isn't exactly conventional. "If you mean where I live, I live in a city out west, where the laws mean little to the people there and family is whatever you can scrap together. You fight for what you have and if you fail, then you're wiped off the map. It's not somewhere people settle to raise family, and no one has a 'home' out there unless they're absolutely crazy and know how to defend it from being taken down in turf wars."
Max leans back in the seat and shrugs, tossing his head back a bit and laughing quietly at himself. "I guess that makes me crazy, though, huh? I consider that damned city home more than anywhere else, solely because that's where my love lies. They love it there, and so, by extension, I do too. I would do anything for that place to keep it up to their standards. I don't want them to lose what they love about it, so... I guess that makes it home? The fact I would do anything for it? Hell if I know."
Max apologizes for rambling and gets up, stretching his legs and putting his thumb to his mouth, biting at the tearing skin there. "Sorry again for... all of that, I hope it was enough. Stay safe, and I hope, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, that we don't meet out on my side of the tracks."

sitting down, the dark kalon picks at the wood of the caravan as he ponders on how to answer such a question, "my home....well, to answer, i work and live in a boarding school- if thats enough for you." it isnt and you wait patiently as he continues to purse his lips while avoiding eye contact.
"its for psychics and uhm- well-" you start to notice a few small objects around the caravan start to lightly levitate, a faint tinge of blue surrounding them. ryuuji seems to take no notice and you think better than to confront him. things will settle on their own eventually.
closing his eyes, ryuuji sighs, "sorry, im not good with these types of questions. i usually aviod them whenever the students start getting personal." and for the first time ryuuji fixates his eyes on you, a deep dark azure glistening with genuinity. "i started working there around four years ago and its been so wonderful and rewarding. i get to help all these kids with whatever problems or issues they have with their powers while also learning to better myself as a person."
"the day i got hired was a wild one, i could never forget it. i mean, imagine coming home one day to a letter on your desk, congratulating you on a job youve never even heard of- let alone apply to." ryuuji spreads out his hands in a 'could you believe it?' motion which makes you smile, forgetting to notice that the items have returned safely to their respective places. "i was completely suspicious at first," you nod along, who wouldnt be? "and did some more researching and digging into."
"i dont know how they knew i was a psychic, considering i kept that information to myself after i finsihed high school. it wasnt an important aspect about me, i told myself." the last sentence was dragged out and said in such a hushed tone that you nearly missed it, "turns out i wasnt the only one, a handful of others got similar letters." he explains, "though....the time stamp on their posts varied from many to just a few years apart and i concluded that whoever was hiring did so sporadically. which ended my one-man investigation."
leaves from trees breezed by as the psychic continued on. "i tried to ignored the letter for a few days, keyword there is few," ryuuji laughed, "but curiousity got the best of me and i read more about the place until i said 'screw it, ive got nothing to lose. im strong enough to escape if its some weird evil cult or something.' or, you know, try to at least." he said in a deep mocking voice of his past self. smiling to yourself, you notice how ryuuji is now more open and confident with his answer. far less nervous than he was just a few moments ago.
"joining the school was the best damn decision ive ever made. the community is wonderful there and im beyond glad to have left my old life behind to start anew." a contagious lop sided smile appeared on his face and you could tell that ryuuji meant each word, "i think i wouldve become a shut in. no one back where i lived was a psychic or could help me in the way i needed it." ryuuji lowered his eyes and kept a small smile to himself, "the school really did feel like my home."
then, just as you were about to ask more about what the place is actually like, ryuuji piped up, "oh! regarding the school itself, its huge with many different buildings specifically made for varying ages. surprisingly, its located in quite a populated area. youd think theyd locate somewhere more secluded for privacy." he shrugs. "anyways, i mostly help the teens and younger with their powers or just toss out some random advice."
"everyday is an adventure, all the kids have some outrageous power or ability. hell ive even seen a kid make fire appear from nothing!" the psychic exclaimed, "but its nice, feeling a sense of responsibility for the kids. it makes me feel like i belong.....and i suppose being needed for something good rather than bad is a nice addition." he confesses, shyly looking away.
"ive also heard of another psychic boarding school from across the country. personally, i dont know much about them apart from the fact that theyre our supposed rival school and a lot more......chaotic." ryuuji finsihes and lets out a small laugh. "sorry for rambling and going off topic there, i hope i answered your question well enough." ryuuji returns his gaze back at you with a smile so sincere.
